Biggest Loser 4 Week 1

Hello everyone!

I had a long weekend. I didn't exercise but my hubby and I added insulation into our attic and I loaded all the insulation bales into the hopper and that itself was work. That thing ate through those fast!

Only to find out we had another problem we didn't know about. Bats! YUCK. Well we only found out about them right now because I guess they hibernate and we must have made it to warm for them so they were looking for somewhere cooler. Sounds like they are in the walls. Called around to people who can get rid of them and said since they won't be leaving the house until spring time they can't do anything about it right now. So I guess they get to hang out in my attic/walls or whatever until spring :(

I did workout this morning, I did weight lifting for 40 minutes. Upper and lower body + abs. I lifted pretty heavy considering I haven't lifted in a few weeks. I was going to go for a run tonight but I am pretty tired this evening.

This is quite a chatty group!

I have done a good job drinking more water and cutting back my portions. I still want to work on getting rid of wheat in my diet and trying to get rid of as many chemicals as possible. I can't believe how much money we've saved in not eating at restaurants lately.

We went to a dinner dance last night and when the desserts came out I thought of all of you - thank you! They had the chocolate fountain and I ate fruit with only 1 piece dipped in the chocolate. If it weren't this group I have no idea how much chocolate I would have eaten. And, I only had a few appetizers. Luckily, I had preordered salmon for my main course and it was yummy.

And, the best news! I exercised yesterday and today. That's the first time I've exercised 2 days in a row in years! It was close to 60 degrees here today which is quite warm for January. I took advantage of it and took a long walk with my best supporter - my 7 yr old.

Such an active thread, I am trying to keep up and learn about everyone.

My resolve would be like everyone else here, to drink more water.

I also resolve to really think about what I am eating and why.

I resolve to keep my portion sizes down.

I resolve to exercise a minimun of 5 days a week, for at least 30 minutes.

Here is an interesting "mantra" that can get us going

DO WE LIVE TO EAT OR EAT TO LIVE?

I do weigh myself every morning - of course as OP as I have been doing with diet and exercise the scale is just not reflecting it. Has not changed in 4 days!! Must be water retention! ;)

I resolve to increase my water intake daily from 64oz to 100+ oz daily. I did a diet years ago and they had me take my weight and divide by 2 - that was how many ounces I should drink daily.

Keeping my eye on my huge 18lb GOAL for January!! I gotta go big or I don't seem to go at all!

Just a side note - I did inflate this giant exercise ball I've had in my closet for a couple of years. After DH did a bounce test (he weighs more than me yeah!) I have been using it in my home office - it is SO COOL!!! I can't seem to sit still and have been bouncing all over the place reading emails,:jumping3: etc. Gotta be better than sitting in a chair!!!

** WOW - this is my 100th Post - only took me 2 1/2 years!!! **

Okay guys - this is our "last chance workout" - just joking - but that was my thought when I thought about getting into some shorts to workout :) It has been so unseasonably warm the last three days and a large part of the area is under tornado watches with a warning in one county. YIKES!! It is NOT spring. I feel like I'm doing really well right now....and right now it isn't too difficult. I too tend to weigh every day although I'm trying to break that habit....if the scale holds tomorrow I will be VERY happy with this first week though. To start with I am just resolving to go to WW meetings, drink more water and less pop, and exercise regularly 3-5X a week. I know I need to take baby steps if I'm going to stick with this and be successful. I will add "stuff" as time goes on. It is good to have the accountability and support of this board though - THANK YOU ALL!!

An important announcement from the Weight Keeper

I am still catching up on my DIS stuff after my vacation and my hands are getting sore from so much typing. I believe we have about a million DIS WISH Biggest Loser 4 participants (well maybe not quite that many). I am still entering initial weights and getting ready to hear from everyone tomorrow. When reporting your weight please keep these things in mind -

#1 You may PM or email you weight to me, I prefer PM, but email is OK if that is what works best for you. Please report by midnight on Tuesday. If you are late that is OK just report your weight as soon as possible. If you prefer to email please send to brenda@kbelectric.biz. DH is threatening to cut off the comcast account. If you do email PLEASE include your DIS screen name. I still do not know everyone yet. We're talking a million people you know (well many not quite that many).

#2 Please report your weight in pounds ie xxx pounds. You may report your change if you would like but that is not necessary ie I lost 1 pound this week. 1/10 of pounds is acceptable ie xxx.x. I am not able to enter xxx.xx (ex 185.25 pounds) so please round off your figure.

#3 I know life happens, I know this weight loss journey will be difficult. Some weeks we will not have a loss. There is never a need to be ashamed or feel a need to apologize. Please check in anyway even if the week was not perfect. When we stumble the important thing is to get back on program as soon as possible. Remember this is not just a diet, it is a lifestyle change. By joining this challenge we are all committing to replacing our destructive habits with healthy ones.

Well I guess that is all my ramblings for now. I am so excited to see everyone here participating and sharing ideas. Keep it up. Your input is needed here to make our challenge a success. We are here to help each other. We can do it.

Have a healthy day!

Hi again everyone! My computer is broken and I can't include the little smilies so just pretend that there is a happy little face right *here* waving at you! Hehe.

I was so inspired by everyones resolves..I hadn't thought of it that way before and I'm glad I read all of yours.
My resolves-

1.No more stress eating! This is my biggest problem

2.No more sweets

3.No more fast food

4. I will pre-plan my meals and make as many as I can ahead of time

5. Smaller portions

6. More fruits and veggies

7. Exercise at least 5 times a week

Well, those are the biggies. I just want to say thank you and good luck to everyone here. It's nice to know we all have positive support to turn to!

Oh I forgot-I joined the biggestloserclubdotcom online so my biggest goal is to stick to that program. So far so good!

Some weeks we will not have a loss.

That will be me. :) I stayed on plan all through Christmas and New Year's, and last week was a good scale-loss week for me, so this is water-retention week. ;)

I've never done one of these before - is there more to the challenge than chatting and weekly weigh-ins?

My resolutions going forward are to

1. limit my starbucks runs to 2 weekly, one week day, one weekend.

2. bring lunch to work 4 / 5 days

3. journal everything I put in my mouth

4. keep my calories within range (1200 - 1500)

5. weather permitting fit in a outdoor walk at least 3 days per week. (this is in addition to my evening workouts)

Evening all,

Just came home from the gym, 60 min of step and boy was she on the fast mode tonight, 20 on the bike & 15 of weights. I was good at not eating any junk today too so hopefully tomorrow my scale will change. I am a daily weigher also, get up- use the bathroom and weigh before getting in the shower.

Have a great evening, I am cleaning the boys rooms since they have gone back to college....:sad1:

Good luck tomorrow every one........

Hello everyone

Well I am officially back to work after winter break tomorrow (I am a school bus driver). We had a 4 hour meeting today (:crazy2: and all the last day off errands to run. In someways being back to work is good because it puts routine back in my day.

My resolves for this year.

Invest time in me the family will survive.

Eat breakfast before leaving for work even if it is a quick hard boiled egg.

Exercise 5 times a week

No fast food. If I need quick food stop at the grocery store and pick up sushi or something healthy. It is just a fast as McDonalds but healthier.

Smaller portions

Drink more water

My resloves are:

Keep busy and no snacking at night.
Bring lunch to work and only eat out on Fridays.
More exercise.
Weighing less on Monday than Friday:eek:
Cut down on diet soda's.
Figure out how to get a cruise in this year!!!!!:rolleyes1

Hey all! It's been another good (and BUSY!) day. I stayed OP. I hit the gym and did my treadmill and elliptical. I got on the scale this AM (I do NOT weigh daily, usually weekly, so I figured to do a Monday weigh in) and found that I have lost exactly ONE pound. Well la-di-da!! OK, so I'm NOT beating myself up. (for a change...) Sooo, today I a) drank lots more water, b) cut back a little on snack portions and c) just kept on going. And I got to thinking, gee, why do I have to weigh in on Mondays? I can join all my Biggest Loser buddies and weigh in on Tuesdays! So I will climb aboard my scale again in the AM, and see what's happened in 24 hours. And then I will keep Tuesdays as my weigh-in day. Do I expect the scale to move tomorrow? No, I do not. But lets make it official, shall we?!?

Wendy (whgrn) I am in West Long Branch but I teach at Middletown High SChool SOuth. BigMama is from Point Pleasant.

You're not far from me at all!

I love reading everyone's resolves! Thanks jimmduck for the great idea!

No McDonalds at all today!:cool1: Very proud of myself.

Oh, and DH opened a bag of tostitos chips right in front of me...:faint: I know he wasn't consciously doing it to be mean, nor unconsciously, he was just having his own snack in the evening. I didn't say anything, I didn't want him to feel bad, I just kept my resolve and didn't eat any!!!! I am so proud of myself. But boy did they smell good.

Also I want to introduce 2 sets of new buddies!!!

mtomlin66..... krdisneybound
shell0616 ..... whgrn

WELCOME!!!!:cheer2:

:thumbsup2 Good job, Vija! That's a step and a big one at that for you. Weigh to go! And Brenda....
so please round off your figure
Thanks, but mine is round enough! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Good evening. I didn't do a last chance work out, but did a last chance drink of 2 large glasses of water tonight.
I am a daily weigher. I hop on the scale before I get in the shower. It's a habit I can't stop. I definitely fluctuate daily, and sometimes, when I'm up a little, it motivates me to get back on track, but when I'm down a little or a lot, I think it gives me some false reassurance to overindulge, thinking I have that buffer, but knowing it is really a fluid thing.
Hoping for a loss in the morning, but it won't be as big as I hoped. I did exercise 5 our of 7 days, but and journalled all my food for 5 days, but the 2 days I didn't I went way overboard.

I resolve to journal all my food intake, no matter what, to exercise 4-5 days/ week, to drink my water daily, and when I am feeling stressed, I will come here and be inspired and not go to the kitchen.
