Don't know if you said this already but does it seem like this season is too focused on Bob and his team?
Last night seemed like the first time I saw Jill for then a few minutes.
OK so Joelle is delusional.
I was upset by the way the people there acted toward her as they voted her off.
I thought it was disgusting and cruel.![]()
My opinion of the some of those people went down big time.
I noticed that right away too.![]()
Granted Joelle didn't want to be there but the sudden lovefest for Carla was a bit too much.
I think it was meant to make Joelle feel worse. We hate YOUI was trying to figure that one out. These people have spent 2 weeks with Carla but there was a month break in between those two weeks and they were fawning over her like love sick puppies. I know they spend a lot of time together and I really liked her, as well, but the gushing seemed sooooooo over the top. "I love you so much......you know I think you are the greatest........I will miss you so much"![]()

I was actually thinking that they would like Carla enough to keep her around even if it meant the Joelle would tag along. Brown Team has had every opportunity and still does nothing with it. Carla never really even had a chance. Then again, Brown Team annoys me so maybe I was just projecting.
I think I was the only person on the planet who still felt sorry for Joelle. She just seemed so ... lost. She could not open herself up to the hurt and disappointment and was so closed. It made me really sad.
I actually work with someone very much like Joelle. When confronted, she just totally shuts down and disengages from the situation. I think it is her way of protecting herself. In my coworker's situation, I think it was due to an abusive past. I see so much of her reactions in how Joelle reacts. She just keeps repeating the same things over and over. She is saying them to convince herself even when they are obviously not true. Psychologically, she cannot deal with the reality of the situation and retreats somewhere inside of herself. She has a lot of issues to deal with and her weight is only one of them. I am surprised that the Biggest Loser therapists didn't screen her out.
Now for my real question....
I remember from Week 1 that the Brown Dad had gastric bypass surgery and gained back all his weight in spite of that. Is it common for people in that situation to struggle even more with weight loss? I am wondering if there is a medical reason for his seemingly slow progress. Does anyone know?

I think the other contestants were disgusted at Joelle's LACK of understanding WHAT the Biggest Loser is all about...about an opportunity, a FREE opportunity to get yourself in shape. That is why they appeared to come off cruel. Joelle just (to me) did not seem to "get it". Carla gave Joelle that opportunity to stay on the BL campus when she went home. And week after week we see Joelle just "not into it at all". I agree with the others, they have all worked so hard and the results are visible on the SCALE. When after this many weeks and Joelle comes up w/o a loss....I did not see one contestant hug Joelle at the end, everyone was hugging Carla. OH WELL!!!!
I felt sooo badly for Carla, I liked her from the FIRST show. And what was up with Joelle after the show, she still does NOT get it at all. A message to Carla, MOVE ON FROM HER!!!![]()
I know what you are saying about Joelle being a crappy contestant, but their behavior was freaking ignorant to me.![]()
They sat there and "gushed over" Carla just to spite Joelle.
Please, like they loved Carla. They were just being cruel to Joelle.
Kicking someone when they are down is just not right. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
I think that Jillian would have had a better chance of getting to the bottom of what was holding Joelle back. She seems to have a knack of being able to reach her contestants on a personal level.I wonder what would have happened to Joelle if she would have had Jilian for a trainer? Like others have said there is something sad about her. And I don't think Carla was all that great, we saw 2 weeks of her thats it. I like the Pink mom boys she has way more in her than I thought.

When she walked out alone while everyone else engaged in the Carla Love Fest, to me it was a sad testimony to who those people are. I couldn't help but think that Dan and the older couple would have at least told her goodbye and wished her well.
It sort of made me lose respect for all of them quite frankly. I mean none of those people got to that ranch because they had all the answers. JMHO.
Agree, agree, agree.Thank goodness too, I thought I was alone in feeling like I do.

And yes Jillian would have been a better match for her. She yells at everyone and if you don't measure up you are out on your can.
You are not alone at all. I think the editing of the Joelle character has been horrible (only showing her bad side). I also thought the Carla love fest was too much. But I absolutely would have voted that team off just to get rid of all the drama/yelling. Joelle shuts down in response to yelling. Carla yells even louder in response to the shut down. It was a horrible cycle that would have gone on forever. I think BOTH of them are better off out of that friendship.
Yep. I would also have voted them off.
Forcing them to meet for the show ending was stupid too.
I really hope BL can get back to picking people that really want to be there to lose weight.
I think they are looking for "stories" too much. In fact....stop picking couples. I don't get that.
Hwy HomeschoolMama ... my old eyes can't read your font color. There is not enough contrast on the screen. Sorry, but I'll have to skip your posts in the future if you don't use a different color.
Feel free to ignore my posts. I don't think we'd get along anyway...Thanks for the hint, but why should we have to do that? If someone wants me to read their posts then they need to post it in a color that I can read.
I agree with you.I so agree! Yes, she was sort of a crappy contestant. But then she also got treated a bit crappy. A lof of them hated her for when she thought about taking the money and just leaving, way back in episode one or two. I bet she wishes she would have done that! I mean come on, nobody on that show but Joelle thought about taking that money and running away with it?
I also think that everyone's already negative attitude (and I think some of it was deserved) went even further south when Bob stood there screaming obscenities at her. Okay, he was frustrated. But he should have gone about that very differently. When you have someone who is as beaten down and messed up as Joelle, yelling, screaming, ignoring and berating her is a sure way to send her down even further. They all did that, Bob very much included. I also wonder if her outcome might have been different if Jillian had been her trainer. Remember last season when Michelle almost quit? Jillian didn't give up on her and who won! They showed Bob talking to her once, the rest of the time well Joelle was just a mystery to him.
