Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

I hope to high heavens that The Biggest Loser has the sense to bring Max in next season. it was just heartbreaking to see him realize how much his brother and father have lost and where they are in life compared to him.

And knowing that the final weigh-in is NOT done up on that big altar scale .... I found it unnecessary for them to have to carry Laura up the stairs. Admit they'd weighed her on another scale so she wouldn't have to make that trip up there .....

At the start of the make-overs, I told DD I hoped they took those skunk stripes out of Kristen's hair.

Please get Ron out of there .... now ..... :lmao:

How did the boys get SO obese when the Mom is SO thin? Did their Dad do this to them? Does the Mom have no control over groceries or meals? I don't get it. :confused3

Seems pretty obvious to me that you have to please DAD or else. I see alot of "feeling stuffing" when it comes to Mike with Ron.

The mom is skinny because Ron makes her a nervous wreck.:rotfl:

I blame the Mom. Grow a pair and help your kids. :headache:

I agree! How can a mother watch her two sons become obese? I don't care what Ron is like. We are talking about a mother and her children. And for all the Ron hate, I believe he truly loves his boys. I can't believe the wife/mother couldn't convince her husband that their kids need a different lifestyle. Ron obviously knew his weight was an issue since he has attempted to do something about it in the past. I blame the mom. I would love to know what her story is.

I noticed that when they went home for a week and said something then. The mom is a fit hottie with sculpted arms, etc. Her kids are morbidly obese. Her youngest son was SIXTEEN when Ron and Mike started the show and he didn't get to be 400 lbs overnight. Didn't she buy groceries and prepare meals for her kids? She, and to be fair Ron, dropped the ball when it came to their kids. How the heck does a 16-year old eat that much to get to be that darn big when his mother obviously understands about nutrition and exercise? IIRC, Mike looked perfectly normal sized as a young child in the beach picture they keep on showing as a "before" picture of Ron. What the heck happened?!?

You can only help a person if they want to be helped. True she could have got the boys to eat healthy when they were small but does everyone do that. You don't want to deprive your kids of stuff, stuff you yourself eat. Some people can eat and eat and not gain weight. It doesn't mean they eating healthy either. There are so many reasons for eating, stress, boredom, emotions you can't handle....

I have an 11 year old that that the wii says he is obese. He is chunky yes, I try to watch what he eat, now he closet eats or goes to the store with his friends with his allowance. I really don't want this to happen either. I know how he feels because I too did this when I was younger, not because my parents told me I couldn't have the food either. He is 5'6 and weighs 130lbs.

Yup, I agree. Kristen appears to be the most naive of the players and Ron thinks that she will go along with what he wants until he executes her at the end. It was more important for him to break up the green voting block that was protecting Mike's biggest threat: Tara.

Now, I agree with glasslipper that Tara and Helen are selfish. ALL of them are selfish. You don't participate in a game show like Biggest Loser if you are NOT selfish. They all want to stay at the ranch in their little diet/workout cocoon as long as they can. Was one of the reasons why Tara wanted Laura to stay because she wanted her protection vote? You bet. But I also think that this experience has brought them closer. I think that when Laura reached out to Tara when she was down and wanted to quit that a light went off in Tara's head and she realized what a good friend she had in Laura and you could see her reach back.

I agree with you 100%

I too feel really bad about Max. I wonder if maybe the Mom was ever overweight herself at one point or was she always thin and fit? It doesn't make sense, but both parents are responsible. they aren't the only family where the parents are obese and the kids are too. It's hard to teach your kids healthy habits when you are eating unhealthy.

Why did they make this huge production of carrrying Laura up to weigh in? How was she getting around everywhere else? I thought she could walk, but just wasn't to put extra pressure on her hip?

If you will go back and rewatch the end, Laura and Kristen were already in the "vote" room when the others came in, you did not any of the contestants walking into or out of the gym for weigh in, and you did not see Laura leave the table after her attempt to talk them into keeping her. The other contestants left the kitchen and went into the livingroom. I am assuming she is using crutches because we are not seeing her move around. And, when she returned home, we did not see the usual family "party". She really may not have the support at home that the others seem to.

I thought that might be the case when her friend was there for the reveal and not a family member. I am glad she was able to stay on the ranch for as long as she did because she needed that support.

What is closet eating? Sneaking food?

Ron's family would be a perfect place to study whether genetics plays a big role in our weight. Ron has been dealing with his weight all of his life (he said the last time he was in the 200's was when he was a young teenager) so maybe, just maybe they are predisposed to the weight. :confused3

Max made me cry last night...I think he truly thinks he won't be accepted by his family now that he is the only huge one now. :guilty:

Yes...only my son is not good at it he leaves a cookie crumb trail , I can't tell you how wrappers we find under the couch. Or empty boxes in the cupboards. Or my chocolate chip bag open in the cupboard with a chocolate chip on the floor.

I remember throwing something in the oven of the stove when my dad went by so he wouldn't see....:lmao: Found out just recently that he knew this all long and didn't say anything.

I know next you well say don't buy that kind of stuff but if you ever went on a strict diet you know that is hard to do, especially with other people in the house that want it. If we all could follow a great lifestyle what a world it would be, take a look around. We wouldn't need shows like the Biggest Loser either.

I DVR'd last night but so far only caught bits and pieces during commercial breaks from Idol and DWTS. Did Ron say he was 250 pounds at age 9?

There was probably comfort in the fact that all of the guys were overweight. If he got teased he could probably justify it to himself. So sad. :guilty:

He said 200 by the age of 9 I think. I remember that because I was thinking that is what I weigh now. :scared1:

My Mom didn't allow treats like that or she rationed them out. I would use my money to go buy candy bars and things and hide them in my room to eat at night or when she wasn't around. I also remember going to TCBY and eating one of those waffle cones full of white chocolate yogurt. Then got another one to eat on the walk home. I was fortunate never to have a weight issue, but it took me into adulthood to realize moderation with treats and that I could have them whenever I wanted so I didn't need to eat it all at once. After that sweets kind of lost their appeal, but not totally. ;)

Ron wasn't all that concerned about Laura's well-being. Like others said, it was smarter for him to break up the green team. Mike seems like such a smart, level-headed person. I can't believe he is Ron's son. Max breaks my heart. When Ron saw him at the reveal, he goes, "What's wrong Max?". It was almost rubbing it in. He knows perfectly well what is wrong! Go ahead Ron, make your son admit that he is the fattest in the family now:sad2:.

I really hope Mike and Ron are able to help Max when they get home. Watching him last night and the episode where they went home for the week was heart breaking.

I was fat as kid and it wasn't so much my mothers cooking or the food she bought.
I would sneak eating then buy more with my allowance, babysitting money, etc.
It wasn't until I was in the 7th grade that I finally decided I wanted to lose weight. Which began a roller coaster of diets for years afterwards.

Don't all kids do that? I find snack wrappers under the couch and empty boxes in the cupboards all the time. We keep a small wastebasket in the living room and my lazy DD cannot walk three feet to throw out her wrappers! It drives me CRAZY. Luckily, my DD is very active (she dances 90 minutes a week and swims on swimteam 5 hours per week) so she burns off everything she eats. I am trying to buy less junk for the house though as she already has a bit of a sweet tooth that I don't want to get out of control.
