Biggest Loser 2009 - Couples 2

Don't all kids do that? I find snack wrappers under the couch and empty boxes in the cupboards all the time. We keep a small wastebasket in the living room and my lazy DD cannot walk three feet to throw out her wrappers! It drives me CRAZY. Luckily, my DD is very active (she dances 90 minutes a week and swims on swimteam 5 hours per week) so she burns off everything she eats. I am trying to buy less junk for the house though as she already has a bit of a sweet tooth that I don't want to get out of control.

All kids do it but my son does not stop at a few cookies he will eat that and move on to something else. Binge eat. I try to stop but he point is a mother can not always stop a child from being fat unless they are on top of them 24/7. So I would not totally blame the mother in Max and Mike's family.

Like Muffycat it is a roller coaster ride if you have ever been fat. Only you can change yourself or find the cause of your over eating. Most fat people know how to get it off, it is keeping it off .....

true, I think the same can be said with any eating disorder, not just overeating.
No one should be quick to judgment, you just don't know what is going on in their lives, the reasons behind the problem.

I hope to high heavens that The Biggest Loser has the sense to bring Max in next season. it was just heartbreaking to see him realize how much his brother and father have lost and where they are in life compared to him.

I agree. Or I think Ron, Mike, Max and the mom could be their own reality show!

Yes...only my son is not good at it he leaves a cookie crumb trail , I can't tell you how wrappers we find under the couch. Or empty boxes in the cupboards. Or my chocolate chip bag open in the cupboard with a chocolate chip on the floor.

I remember throwing something in the oven of the stove when my dad went by so he wouldn't see....:lmao: Found out just recently that he knew this all long and didn't say anything.

I know next you well say don't buy that kind of stuff but if you ever went on a strict diet you know that is hard to do, especially with other people in the house that want it. If we all could follow a great lifestyle what a world it would be, take a look around. We wouldn't need shows like the Biggest Loser either.

I remember sneaking thick peanut butter sandwiches in my room.

And, when she returned home, we did not see the usual family "party". She really may not have the support at home that the others seem to.

Tara was saying she would have no support at home.:guilty:
But big cheif Ron said "No, she's going home" It's sickening how he rules.
With his health he should have been home earlier. He's selfish for keeping himself on while he clearly can't participate in all the challenges.

Yes, Kristen has alot more weight to lose but at least she has her mother as her diet/workout buddy along with what seems a supportive husband.

I've looked at a few message boards and no one has mentioned this -- Laura's injury is basically from over-training. It used to be mostly seen in the military from too much running or marching.

I feel that Jillian was the cause of it. With her pushing, screaming techniques, this was just an injury waiting to happen.

Maybe that's why the show gave her so much PT, doc, etc., support.

Charm

Jillian does that to all of her contestants and this is the first one whith this type of injury. Bob pushes too he just doesn't scream. Instead he asks Kristin "who is still the biggest girl in the house?" And she was the one who sent Laura to the Dr. in the first place.

As far as kids and sneaking food, if your kid is getting as big as those boys it's time for drastic measures, counseling, etc. That is more than a little weight gain from sneaking some treats. Young kids get treatment for anorexia why not for overeating?

I'm not mad at Jillian because she seemed genuinely shocked and sorry that it happened. She broke down in tears when she left Laura at the weigh-in. The fact is that obese people have many medical problems and it's good that they are under constant medical supervision. I am glad the BL paid for her continued medical care after the show.

It drives me crazy to see Ron take one step on that rope and just immediately give up.:confused3 I can see if it was a new injury or something, but this guy rarely participates! He's never disappointed in himself or anything! They better get him off very soon! I can see him winning the whole thing if given a chance.

I think BL is paying for Laura's care because they felt responsible for the injury and/ or they are just trying to prevent a lawsuit.

I agree it is annoying to constantly see Ron just give up at the start. I don't like how he "seems" to be the one in "control". I wonder how much of that is "real"? I really wish the editors of the BL would show us what different workout routine Bob is working on with Ron. As far as challenges, they aren't everything, the main focus is losing the weight and even though he doesn't pull big numbers, he is losing, except for that week he was in the hospital. Editing plays such a big part of the show, we all know that, look how the producers fabricated the marathon scene with Dane(or was it Blane?) How can we know what is really going on or who to trust and believe, when it seems they are all lying??

I didn't see the preview for next week...what does Mike do to "stand up" to Ron?

And add my vote to get Max the brother on the show as soon as he turns 18.

I think they must sign an agreement with the BL to provide medical care, don't you think?

Are these people getting compensated for being on BL?

They put the disclaimer at the end of every episode that all of the contestants are under medical supervision for the entire contest period (I think).

I would think there would have to be compensation because the contenders are without income for quite awhile on the show.

Well I don't think it can totally be blamed on Jillian. With the amount of training they do daily, I'm kinda surprised they haven't had more stress fractures, or other sport injuries thruout the seasons.

I remember Mark from a past season also either had a fracture or stress fracture in his lower leg and he trained w/Bob.

And I didn't care for Ron's reaction to Max either, what's wrong w/Max? Well for one Max has not had the opportunity that his Dad and brother have had. I'm interested to see what Ron says next week when confronted by Mike as shown in the previews.

Ditto. Underwhelmed with the "looks".

While I know Ron was full of it, he was right that Laura did need to go home to heal. Now if he could look in the mirror and come to the same conclusion.

Jill is still whooping Bob's butt. I really do not understand it. I wonder what is going on with that?
Just looking at the line it is Jill at the top and Bob on the bottom.

Eat that Felipe. Did you see him look over and think "damn".:rotfl:

Amen!

I like Tara but I can't stand Helen - I think she is extremely selfish especially sending her daughter home instead of offering herself to go home so her daughter could stay and get healthy. I was so happy last night when Tara beat Felipe - there is something about Felipe and Sione that I didn't care for.

Double Amen!!

How did the boys get SO obese when the Mom is SO thin? Did their Dad do this to them? Does the Mom have no control over groceries or meals? I don't get it. :confused3

I was wondering about this too  Do you think it is possible that Mom was big too at some point and had gastric like her hubby but it worked for her???

Not necessarily from over-training. Exercise actually helps build stronger bones. And people fracture at times just standing. Often with a hip, and a fall, its a toss-up to which came first. Did the fall cause the fracture, or vice versa. I know Laura didn't fall, but with the poor diet, lack of exercise, and extra weight she had a lot of other strikes against her.

ohh, great point!!

I think there have been other fractures in seasons past they just could be pinpointed to a specific incident....this one couldn't and was in a place that needs the extra attention and not just a walking boot.

Ron appears to be quite the controlling individual on the show - and perhaps he is that way at home too. Having said that, Mom may not have any control or be allowed to do anything to help control her sons weight issues. I'm not saying she is abused or anything, but a controlling person can be very difficult to live with - and it is amazing what you will do just to make that person happy. And, if that controlling person is over 400 pounds - who knows what I may or may not do to start a conflict. She may have jsut given up - it would be very difficult to 'force' your kids to eat one way with a father who is obese and controlling too. I'm sure at that weight, he was very miserable and miserable to get a long with too. Just a thought...
