Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

As usual, I cannot explain where the last few days went. I have been journaling! Yesterday, I used 30 of my 49 extras, but I'm okay with that. I was with some friends and enjoying myself and actually had an appetite for the first time in about a week.

sounds like a nice night. I always say thats what the extra points are for. good job for writing it all down.

Going to Kenny Chesney concert tomorrow at Cowboys stadium with Alan and my best friend. She wants Red Lobster for lunch before we head that way so I'll probably eat something small while we are there.

sounds like a fun day for you. sorry about having to deal with your brother. That is horrible what hes done to your mom and the animals.

Nick's team won their first game tonight :cool1:

Good job Nick!!!! I bet you are so proud!!!!

You might remember I mentioned a few months ago that I was going to try a spinning class at the Y but then I chickened out. Well.... DD talked me into it last night! All I can say is :scared1: It was nuts!!

P- you brought back a memory for me. Shortly after I had ryan I got back to the gym and the spin class was the new thing. I still had it in my mind that I was in tip top shape so I didnt even think twice about taking it. OMG once the class got started I thought I was going to die. This older man next two me was spinning away and there I was about ready to fall over.:lmao: I had a real quick reality check.

Glad you did it! and survived.:lmao: I cant believe DD lost 9lbs that is amazing. Good for her. I love hearing you talk about how the two of you are doing things together. Its just so sweet:goodvibes

Good morning! I wanted to explain about this race that's coming up--that I am having so much trouble giving up. If it were any other race, I would bag it. No problem. However, this is our local half marathon that I have wanted to do since we moved here 15 years ago. I have started and stopped training for it so many times--and everytime felt like a failure. I wasn't even going to do it cause I had kind of decided I was over it. But I had such a good princess race and was in such fabulous condition, I thought, why not? Two or three days after I signed up the itbs flared up. I couldn't believe it. I know I have not failed, it's just an injury. But mentally, I just really need to do this. I don't have visions of running Boston or winning a race, I just want the local race shirt. Anyhow, I'm sure I am being way too emotional about this, I just don't want to quit AGAIN. So, I am going to try as hard as my body will allow, and if it works great and if it doesn't, I gave it 100%. My chiro is totally in support of me trying--sometimes I wish he wasn't.;)

I can understand how you feel rose. I say take it one day...run at a time.

Tonight we may go into boston. Ds heard the radio ad about being in a disney channel commercial and we called the number and they are having auditions in town, so we signed up and are supposed to be there for 6.

that sounds pretty cool! Have fun if you do decide to still go.

Hello to everyone else...sorry I only had time to real the current page.

We went out to dinner with mikes coworkers last night in celebration of him leaving. It was very nice and we had lots of fun.

Today is yet another rainy dreary day. But instead of moping around I am going to make the best of it. My mom and I are going shortly to JC Penney to get my dad a bday gift. Then mike and I are going to take the kids to see HOP. We may also try to visit the easter bunny at some point but it depends if the kids want to or not. I have not one pic of the easter bunny with my boys. They are completely frightened to get near him.:lmao:

Tomorrow I have planned to run from my house to my nanas in the morning which is just about 11 miles. then we will celebrate my dads bday and just relax for the rest of the day.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Good Saturday morning teams

I did sleep in a little this morning. I slept until 6 got up and had breakfast and then dh and I have spent over 2 hours clearing out the family room. We still have 2 bookcases to move and a curio cabinet with many of my Disney things in it to clean out. I will start that in a little while. I also have to move some things downstairs to sort out and get rid of somethings.

It is a yucky day here in jersey. Windy with rain coming.

Dh will start painting the ceiling and maybe the trim tomorrow morning. We still have not decided on a paint color. We are looking for a very pale blue. The trim, which is very old fashioned and bigger than normal trim, will be painted white and so will the ceiling.

I will try to get on later but I want to get some things done in the next half an hour.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Morning Teams!

I was up early and am piddling around the house til Alan and Candice show up. Then we are headed to Red Lobster in Arlington and then over to the stadium. I'm debating on even taking the camera because we are going to be so far back from the stage. I really don't think the pictures will turn out that great.

I'll update later tonight when we get back!

Good Saturday morning friends!

I got up a bit ahead of schedule so that I would have a minute to hop on here to say hello! I've been extremely busy lately with work and such and realized that I haven't been on here in a few days. And I'm working every day next week (including Bible Study day..:sad2: ). With it being the week before April vacation and the fact that we have suddenly received an influx of new students who need one-on-one help, I'm sure they will keep me very busy. But swim starts again for DD on Monday, so my week will be just nutty, of course.

I haven't taken the time yet this morning to try to catch up, but I will try. I am doing a walk/run with DD at about 7:30 this morning and they we are heading to MA to see my parents as they just returned from FL and I haven't seen them since Christmas.

Things are well here. I didn't have another spectacular week on the scale, despite sticking strictly to my "South Beach with WW points" diet (down just .2 lb, although I might do another step on the scale this morning). I did get in a workout every day (but a few days they weren't as long as I'd like) and a double workout on a couple of days. BUt honestly, after a YEAR of trying to lose these last few pounds, I am now more convinced than ever that my body just will not be happy at 128 and I need to give up trying to get there. I need to settle into being happy in the low 130's. It is hard to give up that goal, but I truly am out of options.

That said, I did have a physical this week (first one in many years) and will be having a full blood workup soon. Perhaps they will discover something that might give me an answer to why I just can't seem to shed these last few pounds (thyroid disease is a possibility). But whatever the case, I am proud of myself for getting to this weight and maintaining it for over a year now.

You might remember I mentioned a few months ago that I was going to try a spinning class at the Y but then I chickened out. Well.... DD talked me into it last night! All I can say is :scared1: It was nuts!! I did NOT love it, but I made it through respectably (didn't cry or pee my pants!!:rotfl:). I kept up with DD and her teenage friends to my left, and with the older lady to my right. And the instructor was a VERY FIT 57 year old man, so I was determined that I would at least finish this if he could do it! I will admit, after the first 40 minutes I had to bump down the gear level a bit....but just a gear or two below the max that he wanted us at. And I never stopped and I did everything he asked of us.

I think it was a bit like childbirth. During the class I was thinking of 1000 ways to KILL the instructor and how I would never, ever, ever do this again. But now that it's over, I am thinking how it wasn't SO bad and I MIGHT do it again sometime!! I didn't love it and it won't become a "passion" but it is nice to add another kind of cardio to my list of things to do at the Y.

BTW, I mentioned that DD joined me on SB last week......well guess what??? She lost 9 pounds!!! Yup NINE!! Ahhh....to have a young metabolism. She is thrilled and wants to lose just a few more. Swim season heads into high gear again next week, so I'm sure the few remaining pounds will come off quickly if she continues to watch how/what she is eating. We have both decided to kind of try a modified SB Phase 1/2 this week..... very strictly watch the carbs, but not eliminate them completely. We both had a small serving of fresh strawberries last night. We might share an apple today. But still no bread, pasta, rice, cereal, crackers, etc.

Well...... I told DD I'd wake her at 7 for our 7:30 walk, so if I am going to catch up here at all, I'd better get reading! ..........................P

You look very good at your current weight. I certainly wouldn't worry about those last few lbs, I think you may have already lost what you truly needed too :goodvibes

QOTD Saturday, April 16

Do you have foods that you cannot have in the house because you just can't eat them in moderation? If you have a food like that how is everyone else in your family handling it?

Enjoy your Saturday!

Food :rotfl:Lately I'll eat anything that is edible:scared1: I know that I need to stop it, but I can't gain control back. I think my family would notice if I suddenly stopped buying all food :idea

DH and I do very well when we do it together and neither of us do well without each other. We actuallly talked this morning and decided that the time has come (again). I'm running some errands later and will pick up the Atkins book (again). Tomorrow I need to grocery shop so the timing works.
So that's the plan

I'm pretty sure this is my 2000th post.:goodvibes

QOTD Saturday, April 16

Do you have foods that you cannot have in the house because you just can't eat them in moderation? If you have a food like that how is everyone else in your family handling it?
I can't have potato chips (plain Lays) in the house. I could just eat and eat and eat them. I will occasionally have a small bag. Mike isn't a big chip person, so that's easy. DS will be home this summer, so it will be interesting--he loves chips too. Most other things I can handle in moderation. Though we had mini bags of m&ms last week and I found myself snacking on way too many so I won't be buying them again for a while.:goodvibes

It's looking like a nice day here in MA. I am going to run/walk with my friend at 10 and she wants to go a long way, so that will be good.
Have a great saturday!!:)
Kathy--I hope the audition is fun! And the run too!:goodvibes I love running with a partner. And I do agree--it's quite the feeling to know that you worked hard and reached your goals. I hope you see one-derland soon.:goodvibes And thanks for the vote of confidence. I am feeling better about running today. I think tomorrow is going to be a fun run.:goodvibes

CC--hope you made it to the gym today.:goodvibes

QOTD- cookies, and pizza...if either of those two things are in this house i will eat them, and eat them, and eat them

will weigh in this evening when i can get to a scale, until then wishing everyone a great day!
Pizza is a hard one. Have you tried thin crusts? We made pizza at home every Tuesday after running until I went off gluten. We used the Mama Mary prebaked thin crust and loaded it with veggies. It was really tasty, not too bad on calories and satisfied my pizza craving. Each week I tried to make something different. The key was to load it with healthy toppings. Then 1 or 2 pieces really fill you up. Hope the weigh-in goes well.:goodvibes

I can understand how you feel rose. I say take it one day...run at a time.

I hope the run went well Lindsay! And you're right--one run at a time.:goodvibes And you really need some vitamin D! My sister in Lititz said it's been horrid this spring--grey, grey and more grey.

Dona--I hope the painting is going well.:goodvibes

That's how I was last year. I felt like I couldn't control anything. I know it will get better for you when you get a more normal schedule and get used to the new job.:goodvibes I think it's great that you and Chris do this together.:goodvibes
*****

The g-f fair was interesting. We got a lot of good ideas. We tried a delicious frozen pizza that I am going to get for emergencies. And I bought a mix for choc chip cookies that were fabulous! I had some other thoughts on the whole experience, but I'm going to stick them in my journal if anyone is interested.:goodvibes

Please pray for all those effected by the tornadoes in NC! My parents are in Morrisville and are ok. My sister and her family live in Cary though they are in SC on vacation! Tremendous damage in downtown Raleigh and in Sanford!

Watching Deathly Hallows part one again! We watched most of the 2 special features disks that came with the movie.

Big burgers for supper! I made margaritas for Brian and me! Hope I can stay awake tonight.

Ash wants a banana smoothie and Izzie wants a drink so I had better go now!

I had an okay day today. I didn't really like dinner tonight-too spicy-so I didn't eat very much of it. In reality, I probably ate a normal portion, but I still have 5 points left for the day. I've already had dessert too. I'm not sure what the scale will bring this week. I'm guessing I will not see too much of a loss after last week's big loss, but the Wii says I'm down 2 more since I weighed-in at WW, so I could have another good week. The problem is that I want to lose weight in a healthy weight-not like this. Plus, I have no idea where I'm losing it from-my big toe? :rotfl2:

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow! Hoping to make it to the gym as I didn't today. Today makes at least day 5 of not feeling well enough to exercise. I felt better yesterday so I thought I'd be good to workout today, but I woke up worse than I was yesterday. Cannont wait to figure out what is going on....

Rose&Mike
I do make pizza at home often, what i meant was i can't keep it around, like cookies. If i had frozen pizza in the house of a box of cookies, i would pick at that sucker a little at a time until it was all gone, finished , kaput...it's a weakness :lmao:

Hi, everyone! Just a quick check-in since I wanted to read how everyone is doing.

It was a busy day here, but in a good way. Patty and I got out for an hour-long brisk walk. Then I went to WW where I was down 1.8. Then Howard and I ran errands: butcher, Einstein Bros bagels (I did a plain thin with RF honey almond cc that I scraped off mostly); a gift shop, Shop Rite and Trader Joe's. Then I made a list of dinners for the week and cooked a bunch of stuff today. Tonight, Howard, J. and I watched "An Affair to Remember" - I can't believe the scenes with Cary Grant's grandmother were in Villefranche where we'll be this summer. That was amazing!

Food was good today. I probably ate too many grapes, but I'm okay with that. I also had a plain baked breadstick with dinner, but that was good, too. I did not get in my 2nd dairy serving or my healthy oils today but will get back on track with those tomorrow.

Going back to my TurboTax screen to submit our returns now that we've reviewed them. Hugs, all!

:wave2:Busy day today, and even busier one tomorrow. But fun. We went to the mall to get DD11 some shoes and one of her favorite stores was going out of business (only at the mall) so they were pretty much giving everything away. They only had about 4 racks of clothes left but we bought 2 bags full. And then got some good clearance at another of her favorites, and finally were able to get her some shoes.

I am really concerned because she is complaining that her heels are hurting. Just looking at her feet you can see that she takes after me so I am worried. I have no idea if an 11 year old can have PF problems but I may need to make a call to our Podiatrist.

We went to the HS musical this evening and it was great. Amazing how much talent high schoolers have. Just about everyone was there-- I love being in a community where everyone goes out to support others kids and works together. Whole families were there just to enjoy the entertainment.

QOTD Saturday, April 16
Do you have foods that you cannot have in the house because you just can't eat them in moderation? If you have a food like that how is everyone else in your family handling it?

For me mostly baked goods-- cakes, cookies, brownies (and I don't even care for brownies!), rice krispy treats any goodies like that. Cheddar and Sour Cream potato chips or chips and french onion dip are also a big weakness.

I missed the goals question the other day:
I hope to meet my initial goal within the next 3 weeks or so so I may add to at that point, or just get started on my next one.

The first swim team practice is tomorrow. My youngest will be on the team but the oldest is the only one going. DD11 has a girl scout event to go to, but they needed teens to help out with the little kids and I am one of the few returning Swim Team Committee members so the Manager said she would like to have me there to help out. We are still waiting on the MRI results on DD15's shoulder but I don't think that she will be swimming competitively anymore. She just has too much pain when she tries. She will have fun helping with the little ones though so she isn't too upset.

Gotta get to bed so I can hit the ground running tomorrow.

Quick check in. Didn't run today, woke up with a horrible stomach ache. Damn travel!!!
Felt better by around lunch time.
Dropped DH off at the contemporary so he could set up his classro and headed to MK. Got a really good veggie wrap, grapes and water at Cosmic Rays. I wandered around MK for a bit so I probably got a few miles in. Met DH at DTD and had Earl of Sandwich but could only eat 1/2.
Will try to run tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Holey moley I am behind! I need to be checking in at least weekly to know what's been going on.

Well, I had a stinky week and fell off the wagon at least 7 times:scared1: I'm drowning in IEPs and bologna at work so I'm just trying to survive. Looking forward to finishing plans for my July trip. I still need to get moving on my health so I can enjoy it.

Fat smash day one begins tomorrow...here's to a successful 28 days of fat smashing.:banana:

I'm pretty sure this is my 2000th post.:goodvibes

congratulations.:goodvibes

I am actually running this morning. My dh is taking the kids to sunday school and I am trying to leave a little before they do. The church is near my nanas so I told him to go the same route I am running so they can cheer for me as they drive by.:lmao: Then I told dh to drop them off and drive back to check on me. One part of the run is through a bit of a tough area of the city. I am basically running from one city to another and it involves going through "center city" to get there. It will be just under 11 miles. Not exactly following any kind of training plan this time.:rolleyes1 Just livin on a prayer.

Your GF fair sounded good. I will check out your journal later.

Hello to everyone else too!!!!!!!!

not much time to chat I need to keep movin this morning so I can get everything done. Hop was great yesterday. The kids loved it. We had a great time.

Lindsay-Good luck on your run this morning!:goodvibes

CC-:hug:So sorry you have been feeling so poorly. I hope things turn around soon, and that the urge to overeat stays away when you are feeling better.

Buffy-Hope you are feeling better already. Nothing worse that getting sick on vacation.

Rose- Congrats on your 2000th post. I'm glad you're feeling positive about running today. :goodvibes

Lisa- Good luck on your race today!!!:goodvibes

Hello to everyone else.:wave2:

We had a fun night last night. We went to the audition, and there were 2 parts, one you spoke one on one with someone from this company called THE, pronounced tay who run events where you pay to go, and you are seen by many different agents and businesses, for acting, singing, dance or modelling. Tempting part is it is in Orlando this july. Non tempting part is the price of the convention/event. The cheapest package is 1950, and they go up to about $7500 and you get more exposure. They evaluate you and you are invited to go to the event, but you need to email on monday with phone numbers, and then they call you if you are invited, and you need to commit this monday.
The second part was a 3 line commercial bit you read infront of a camera for an agent/manager.
They showed us a video beforehand, and someone from THE spoke as well at the agent. The agent seemed really nice, and told us all about his career, and had many names from disney and nick he has worked with in the past, and now he manages the kid who played Rowley in the Wimpy kid movies, so that was exciting.
The woman from THE was stern, and tried to impress the seriousness of the night. She picked a girl in the audience out who was playing on an iphone, and really used her as an example. We need to be listening and if we're not then we're not serious, and we should just leave now, and not waste their time.
Michael did great with the commercial, was a little shy with the interview, but he had fun, and it was interesting, but we talked and he knows we don't have the money to spend on it this year even if he were invited, and I couldn't change my vacation.

We saw many people in boston last night with their marathon jackets on, and was talking to one man in the elevator at the hotel and I asked if it was his first, and he said he hoped it would be his first that he he would finish. He ran last year injured, but didn't finish. We wished him be best of luck, but he seemed so nervous.

We ate at quizno's after the audition, and split a sub and soup, then went bowling in Malden. ten pin which I haven't done in years, and it was fun, and so much easier than candlepin. I actually got over 100.

We had to pick up my sister at the airport at 10:30, so we got ice cream after bowling. I journalled it all, but need to go online and figure the points. I'm sure I"m still within my weeklys, but ate too much.

Michael is still sleeping. I'm thrilled. He woke up at 6, and after going to bed at 12, I knew it would not be a fun day, but he went back to sleep in my bed. Phew. We are going to see Hop later with my niece and nephew.

Have a great sunday everyone!!:thumbsup2

Please pray for all those effected by the tornadoes in NC! My parents are in Morrisville and are ok. My sister and her family live in Cary though they are in SC on vacation! Tremendous damage in downtown Raleigh and in Sanford!
Very scary. I don't know how we missed the storms this time, but all we got was tons of rain.

Hope you feel better today.:goodvibes

Gotcha! I do ok with things I have to actually cook. It's once they are cooked that I get in trouble!

Sounds like you are having a good weekend Cam! Congrats on the loss!:goodvibes

It might be worth having someone look at them. There are lots of stuff you can do to prevent some injuries--including being in the right shoes. I'm sure you already know this. I've been using the tennis ball a couple of times a day on my foot while watching tv and that's helped a ton with my foot soreness. (I'm having a fatty pad issue right now--what an ugly term for a body part!)

Quick check in. Didn't run today, woke up with a horrible stomach ache. Damn travel!!!

Good luck with the fatsmash!

Just livin on a prayer.
Take my hand and we'll make it--I swear. ;) (I need to put that on my running playlist.) Have a good run!

Ok, time to get ready to run. I wish it was a little warmer, but I guess I'll survive--it's only in the 40s this morning. Brrrr.

Have a great day!:goodvibes

I'm having a lazy day. I stayed up reading Kingdom Keeper IV until around 2 AM so I stayed in bed until 10 this morning :scared1: It's very cold with scattered showers so we won't be outside today anyway.

I need to open the Atkins book and make a list for the grocery store. I have a Lacrosse meeting with a neighboring team at 2 PM. We're meeting at a local brewery. From there I'll head grocery shopping in a town that I don't normally go to just because it is a bit out of the way. They have better prices on groceries so I'll make the effort today since the brewery is about half way there anyway. Tomorrow we will start Atkins. I know from past experience that it is day 3 of being completely on track before you actually go into ketosis which means that any going off track will throw you off plan for a minimum of 3 days. I'm in the right mindset to do this so it had better work.

Sorry Team Mickey!!!!!
It has been such along timesince i have posted or been in contact with you. Since I had my Surgery on March 16th things have not been so good. I am still flat in bed toes above the nose so I thing at this time I have no choice but to drop out. I will still read up and wish my team Mickey the best!!!!!!
Hopefully something good will happen soon I go back to the doctors on the 26th then maybe I can get out of bed and start walking. At this time we have still not canceled our trip for May 14th. If I get clearance to start walking I may just have to ride around in a scooter as long as it is not flat in bed.

Here is an article from Spark People about emotional eating--it's one page so a quick read. Do you identify with anything in the article? Do you see yourself using any of the strategies to deal with stress eating in the future.
http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/wellness_articles.asp?id=55

I identify with the whole thing. I am a major stress eater. I find that replacing the junk in the house with healthy treats helps. Then I run for carrots instead of chips.

good article
