Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

P--I know LTS is the SB expert, but here is my experience. We did SB several years ago. I lost a bunch on Phase 1. And I felt good--probably cause I was eating no gluten!!! Anyhow, I stayed on Phase 1 for 4 weeks (poor choice, I know) and ended up having a bout of depression afterwards. I think my seritonin levels just dropped through the floor. Maybe it had nothing to do with SB and staying on Phase 1 too long, but it was pretty bad for a couple of months. Anyhow, take care of yourself. It's so hard to decide when enough is enough--as far as goals go.

So far so good, but thanks for the words of warning. I'm sure by this Easter Sunday, we will be SO ready for some carbs!! We decided to stick to Phase one for this week, at least.... but I am going to start adding some fruit and whole grains back in the week after. Don't want my system to be going haywire at Disney!

QOTD Saturday, April 16

Do you have foods that you cannot have in the house because you just can't eat them in moderation? If you have a food like that how is everyone else in your family handling it?

Well, I must say, after 3+ years of this journey, I have developed a pretty good attitude about just ignoring tempting foods. But that said..... sweet potato chips and cookie dough are definitely my downfall. I have had the same bag of sweet potato chips in the pantry for a few months now. No one else likes them and I know if I open them, I will eat the entire thing. So I just choose to ignore it. Not sure what else to do with it.

As for the cookie dough (or CRACK, as I call it).... I NEVER, EVER, EVER buy fridgerator cookie dough any more. Absolutely CANNOT control myself with it. And since I hate to bake, I only have to worry about the occasional few times a year that DH and the kids get craving cookies. And I only like the dough, so once the cookies are baked, I'm safe.

Good Saturday morning teams

I did sleep in a little this morning. I slept until 6 got up and had breakfast and then dh and I have spent over 2 hours clearing out the family room. We still have 2 bookcases to move and a curio cabinet with many of my Disney things in it to clean out. I will start that in a little while. I also have to move some things downstairs to sort out and get rid of somethings.

It is a yucky day here in jersey. Windy with rain coming.

Dh will start painting the ceiling and maybe the trim tomorrow morning. We still have not decided on a paint color. We are looking for a very pale blue. The trim, which is very old fashioned and bigger than normal trim, will be painted white and so will the ceiling.

I will try to get on later but I want to get some things done in the next half an hour.

Have a happy and healthy day.
You will certainly be busy this week! Enjoy your school vacation.

You look very good at your current weight. I certainly wouldn't worry about those last few lbs, I think you may have already lost what you truly needed too :goodvibes

You're sweet.

Food.Lately I'll eat anything that is edible. I know that I need to stop it, but I can't gain control back. I think my family would notice if I suddenly stopped buying all food :idea

I definitely have had times like that..... it didn't matter WHAT the food was, I just wanted to eat and eat and eat!!

DH and I do very well when we do it together and neither of us do well without each other. We actuallly talked this morning and decided that the time has come (again). I'm running some errands later and will pick up the Atkins book (again). Tomorrow I need to grocery shop so the timing works.
So that's the plan

So nice that you are in this together. Good luck.... stay healthy.

I had an okay day today. I didn't really like dinner tonight-too spicy-so I didn't eat very much of it. In reality, I probably ate a normal portion, but I still have 5 points left for the day. I've already had dessert too. I'm not sure what the scale will bring this week. I'm guessing I will not see too much of a loss after last week's big loss, but the Wii says I'm down 2 more since I weighed-in at WW, so I could have another good week. The problem is that I want to lose weight in a healthy weight-not like this. Plus, I have no idea where I'm losing it from-my big toe?

Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow! Hoping to make it to the gym as I didn't today. Today makes at least day 5 of not feeling well enough to exercise. I felt better yesterday so I thought I'd be good to workout today, but I woke up worse than I was yesterday. Cannont wait to figure out what is going on....

Sorry you are still feeling so poorly. Could any of it be spring allergies???

Hi, everyone! Just a quick check-in since I wanted to read how everyone is doing.

It was a busy day here, but in a good way. Patty and I got out for an hour-long brisk walk. Then I went to WW where I was down 1.8. Then Howard and I ran errands: butcher, Einstein Bros bagels (I did a plain thin with RF honey almond cc that I scraped off mostly); a gift shop, Shop Rite and Trader Joe's. Then I made a list of dinners for the week and cooked a bunch of stuff today. Tonight, Howard, J. and I watched "An Affair to Remember" - I can't believe the scenes with Cary Grant's grandmother were in Villefranche where we'll be this summer. That was amazing!

Food was good today. I probably ate too many grapes, but I'm okay with that. I also had a plain baked breadstick with dinner, but that was good, too. I did not get in my 2nd dairy serving or my healthy oils today but will get back on track with those tomorrow.

Going back to my TurboTax screen to submit our returns now that we've reviewed them. Hugs, all!

You've been busy.... and good job keeping track of the dairy and oils. I know I lack pretty badly with the oils. I try to remind myself to have just a bit here and there, especially if I am not having a salad that day (the dressing is my main source of oils).

Quick check in. Didn't run today, woke up with a horrible stomach ache. Damn travel!!!
Felt better by around lunch time.
Dropped DH off at the contemporary so he could set up his classro and headed to MK. Got a really good veggie wrap, grapes and water at Cosmic Rays. I wandered around MK for a bit so I probably got a few miles in. Met DH at DTD and had Earl of Sandwich but could only eat 1/2.
Will try to run tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I am SO jealous thinking of you wandering around MK all by yourself, following your own lead, doing what you want!!! SOMEDAY I WILL take a solo trip! But for now, I am SO excited about my trip with DD..... just 17 more days!!

Holey moley I am behind! I need to be checking in at least weekly to know what's been going on.

Well, I had a stinky week and fell off the wagon at least 7 times:scared1: I'm drowning in IEPs and bologna at work so I'm just trying to survive. Looking forward to finishing plans for my July trip. I still need to get moving on my health so I can enjoy it.

Fat smash day one begins tomorrow...here's to a successful 28 days of fat smashing.

Good luck SMASHING the fat! Try to check in with us every few days and let us know how it is going!

Lindsay-Good luck on your run this morning!:goodvibes

We had a fun night last night. We went to the audition, and there were 2 parts, one you spoke one on one with someone from this company called THE, pronounced tay who run events where you pay to go, and you are seen by many different agents and businesses, for acting, singing, dance or modelling. Tempting part is it is in Orlando this july. Non tempting part is the price of the convention/event. The cheapest package is 1950, and they go up to about $7500 and you get more exposure. They evaluate you and you are invited to go to the event, but you need to email on monday with phone numbers, and then they call you if you are invited, and you need to commit this monday.
The second part was a 3 line commercial bit you read infront of a camera for an agent/manager.
They showed us a video beforehand, and someone from THE spoke as well at the agent. The agent seemed really nice, and told us all about his career, and had many names from disney and nick he has worked with in the past, and now he manages the kid who played Rowley in the Wimpy kid movies, so that was exciting.
The woman from THE was stern, and tried to impress the seriousness of the night. She picked a girl in the audience out who was playing on an iphone, and really used her as an example. We need to be listening and if we're not then we're not serious, and we should just leave now, and not waste their time.
Michael did great with the commercial, was a little shy with the interview, but he had fun, and it was interesting, but we talked and he knows we don't have the money to spend on it this year even if he were invited, and I couldn't change my vacation.

That audition sounds like fun. And even if nothing comes of it, Michael will always remember that you let him try.

I'm having a lazy day. I stayed up reading Kingdom Keeper IV until around 2 AM so I stayed in bed until 10 this morning :scared1: It's very cold with scattered showers so we won't be outside today anyway.

I need to open the Atkins book and make a list for the grocery store. I have a Lacrosse meeting with a neighboring team at 2 PM. We're meeting at a local brewery. From there I'll head grocery shopping in a town that I don't normally go to just because it is a bit out of the way. They have better prices on groceries so I'll make the effort today since the brewery is about half way there anyway. Tomorrow we will start Atkins. I know from past experience that it is day 3 of being completely on track before you actually go into ketosis which means that any going off track will throw you off plan for a minimum of 3 days. I'm in the right mindset to do this so it had better work.

Careful with the ketosis. It can be hard on your organs. Good luck.... share some of your meal ideas if you want!

Sorry Team Mickey!!!!!
It has been such along timesince i have posted or been in contact with you. Since I had my Surgery on March 16th things have not been so good. I am still flat in bed toes above the nose so I thing at this time I have no choice but to drop out. I will still read up and wish my team Mickey the best!!!!!!
Hopefully something good will happen soon I go back to the doctors on the 26th then maybe I can get out of bed and start walking. At this time we have still not canceled our trip for May 14th. If I get clearance to start walking I may just have to ride around in a scooter as long as it is not flat in bed.
GO TEAM MICKEY:cheer2::cheer2:

Well... I don't know you, but it sounds like you've definitely been through something! Good luck with your ongoing recovery and fingers crossed that you make it to Disney in May!!

Afternoon Teams!

We had an awesome time at the concert last night! It took us over an hour and a half to get home (not because of traffic but because we got lost :lmao:.) We went to IHOP and had some breakfast and got home around 2am. I watched tv for about an hour and crashed. I didn't wake up until a little while ago.

Alan is watching Blind Side and we're waiting for hot dogs to defrost so we can have chili dogs for lunch. I think we may do something simple for dinner as well (tuna sandwiches with soup possibly).

I'm getting ready to correct some 200 flyers for our grand opening. I also need to continue on my cleaning of the house.

29 days til Disney bound!

::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :wizard:

Sounds like a fun weekend! Sorry I didn't get back on here to share my list... and I don't have it with me right now (I'm at school). I'll try to find the time this week to share.

Sorry to say that I did not have a good week.

I gained 1 pound this week.

:sad2:

Disney1990
Team Donald

Sorry.... maybe you can start fresh today and have a great week!!

We are having a gorgeous day today. We ran this morning and this afternoon went to a baseball game. I was able to go the distance I wanted to, but my knee has been pretty uncomfortable this afternoon. I'm really hoping it recovers quickly otherwise I am going to have to ice it at work tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great evening.:goodvibes

Glad you were able to "go the distance". Did they find the g-f beer for you this time??

Not sure if I will be on at all tomorrow--busy day--so here is the QOTD.:goodvibes

QOTD Monday, April 18
We've done this one before, but it's one of my favorites. What's your current favorite workout or motivational song?

My favorite song currently is My Body by Young the Giant
Not quite sure what the song means, but I really like it.:goodvibes I listened to it a bunch today while running.:goodvibes

Not sure I have a current favorite. My "desired" music changes depending on what I am doing (walking, running, weights, etc). My current favorite song is that Cee Lo Green "Forget You". But it is interesting that this question came up today. DD and I are trying to make a playlist for our trip (to list to on the plane and in the car on the way to the parks)! We have a short list already, but need to do some more thinking about it.

Good morning BL friends:goodvibes Trying to get back into the habit of posting daily but "it's always something". I did get very sick last week which is quite unusual for me.

Today I need to get in my 45 mins on the elliptical. I will watch Ruby while I do that. Then need to go over our vacation plans/lists/print out check-in for the resort. Need to start making a list with pictures and prices for all the things we are selling here before we move - lots of electronics. And, of course I will be drying the 6 loads of laundry I did this morning! Anytime left after that I will continue planning the trip for when my BFF visits here May 21-31. I have all reservations made except a hotel room in Prague. Oh, and I am constantly searching the internet for a house back home!

Hope you all have a great day!
Shawnprincess:

CRAZY BUSY LADY!! Wow! And I thought MY week was nutty! Enjoy your remaining time in Europe and get the most out of it. Sorry about the washing situation... what a PITA. Get well soon!!

Good Morning. Did want to get up this morning. Stayed up reading Kingdom Keepers until midnight. I was caught up in the book and forced myself to stop reading then. The hard thing about Atkins induction is that there isn't much grab and go. I had to make omlets for breakfast this morning. Since I don't have leftovers for lunch I made a low carb wrap, but technically wraps aren't alloweed during induction either. A girls gotta eat. Hopefully I can throw something together tonight for tomorrow although I probably won't get home too early from work tonight

I agree.... the whole "low carb" thing makes it VERY difficult for grab and go food. Dd had to take a cold cooked chicken breast, two hardboiled eggs, and a string cheese with her to a volunteer job at the Y. She said there was lots of "carby" foods available (baskets of bread and rolls and desserts and candy) and that I would have been "proud" of her for eating the lunch she brought.... and she was right. I'm sure it was hard to resist.

My "normal" grab is something like a piece of fruit or a Fiberone bar..... so these few weeks have been really tough. I like cheese well enough, but don't want intestinal issues that come with too much cheese consumption, so I've been careful..... and I like nuts okay, but the portions are just too tiny to really amount to anything (IMHO).

And breakfast is a challenge every morning. Our usual pattern is a bagel for DD and a whole wheat english muffin for me in the morning on our way to school..... we drive and talk and eat and drink for the 20 minutes.... but lately we've had to gobble up some eggs before leaving. Doesn't make for a very relaxing morning. I have changed over to lowfat cottage cheese some mornings and that is a bit more portable. And I'm not adverse to having cold chicken or something like that.... but DD doesn't want "lunch" for breakfast.

hi everyone! i'm back from my weekend trip to NC. had a GREAT time seeing my friend's new baby. he's so cute! and SO good! hardly cried! i'm used to colic babies so seeing a baby just hanging out in the swing happy as a clam was so fun.

anyway, i ate my weight in BBQ, milkshakes, chicken sandwiches, fries, etc so i'm back on the wagon today (scrambled eggs with a piece of whole wheat toast).

i have another OB appt tomorrow and hoping to see the munchkin again. i really hate the first tri b/c i'm just so nervous all the time. we leave for maui in less than three weeks. i'll have another ultrasound the day before we leave (the NT scan).

i have to go back a lot of pages and catch up. hope everyone had a great weekend. ready for easter??

Hope everything is good at the OB appointment. I'm sure you'll be fine! Good for you for getting right back into a healthy eating pattern after your fun weekend.

Good morning all! :goodvibes

I did have a wonderful day yesterday. I ran our local 5 mile race. This was my first race last year and I was the poster child for poor training. Did it in 1:44 and couldn't do anything for a month afterward. This year it was 39 and windy at the start. I did it in 86 minutes -- that's 18 minutes off my time from last year. And I'm totally ready to keep on with my training for my half at the end of May. I may not be where I want to be weight wise yet but I've made great strides in my physical condition which will only help me. Have a great day all!

WOOHOO! Nice job on the race!! I"m so proud of you!

I went to an intro to spin class last Sunday, and while I want to do more, I'm a little worried because of a lingering pain in my leg, on the side just below my hip. A full week later and it still hurts pretty bad. Anyone have any experience with this?

I tried my first spin class this past Friday. It was a combined beginner/intermediate class and he totally kicked my butt! But other than a sore backside and a tiny bit of stiffness the next day, I had no lingering pain. I would definitely think about some treatment for this if I were you.... ice or heat, not sure which would help at this time.... maybe some massage and/or stretching? How about a good soak in the tub??

:wave2: Has anyone seen my motivation? :confused3 I seem to have lost some of it. I am still doing okay on the eating part but the exercise part has wandered off. I wasn't able to get to the gym for a few weeks because of illness, work, kid stuff and our vacation so now the momentum is gone. I was going to try to go today but I have a headache and my hip is hurting. (whine, whine, whine)

I'm so sorry.... I'll look around for it! I totally understand the getting off track thing. I got off track after DH got home from the hospital..... it was a change from the "norm" plus the holidays were coming up and I just got totally out of my normal routine... and it took several weeks AFTER the holidays before I got back into the exercise routine.... but I'm pleased to say that I did EVENTUALLY get back into a regular exercise routine and I'm glad I did. You'll get back to it. How about SCHEDULING it for the coming week??? I've written myself an exercise schedule for this week because I KNOW it will be crazy and I will have EVERY EXCUSE in the book to not fit it in. And if the vacumming doesn't get done.... so be it!

Does anyone else treasure their days at home? That is my other problem, if i have no where that I have to be then I like to stay home in my comfy torn jeans and get things done around the house.

I DEFINITELY treasure my "at home" days.... especially when I've been working a lot lately!! But I have so much that I want to do and have to do, that I can't decide WHAT to do!I

am happy with my loss for this last week (1.5) and have a goal of hitting 1.5-2 for this week.

Excellent!! She has a "challenge" today for her seat in band (the kid in the chair below hers is challenging her so he can move up) so she is nervous. I will be nervous for her all day too. I hope they find out the results today.

Really? They can do that?? SOunds very nerve-wracking! Good luck to DD today.

**********Phew..... I'm caught up!! Sorry I haven't been around much. I'm at work right now and been trying to read a bit here and there as the kids have been out of the room. They are in Library now and so I have just a few more minutes to chat.

I'm feeling crazy busy/overwhelmed with all I want/need to get done this week and next. But honestly, I know that the MUSTs will get done and whatever doesn't.... oh welll. Working every day this week, plus dentist appointments and Robotics and swim for DD every night. House is a bit of a disaster (although I caught up all of the laundry yesterday!!). I did plan out a full week of SB meals (had to tweak the previously prepared menu, but it wasn't too far off) and prepped the stuff for at least the first half of the week yesterday. Plus I did my grocery shopping yesterday, as I won't be out to do it Tuesday. I've got some chicken breasts marinating and will throw them on the grill tonight while dinner is cooking..... that will be for lunches for DD and I for the week again. Kind of tired of the salad with chicken thing, but it certainly is easy!

Scale seems to be all over the board for me..... which reminds me WHY I usually on weigh-in once a week! Took a sneak peek at Saturday that was VERY encouraging.... but today's "peek" was :scared1: for no reason at all! I am vowing to not step on the scale again until weigh-in on Friday. Not sure how you daily weigh-ers can handle the emotional rollercoaster!

I haven't even gotten the suitcases out of the attic yet! We are leaving in 17 days.... usually I am filling suitcases a month in advance! That said, I do have a large pile on my dresser of stuff to go IN the suitcase, whenever I get it out! THese next 17 days are going to FLY by.... especially since Easter is next weekend and school vacation is next week!

Haven't had a minute to check out my new camera..... gotta make that a priority tonight.... I don't want to end up in Disney with a camera I am clueless about using!!

Making a yummy lowcarb recipe tonight that was already on the menu, even before we decided to try SB. It is from an old cookbook from the 1970s called More with Less..... put out by the Mennonites. Anyhow, the recipe is called Easy Moussaka.... kind of a hamburg/eggplant casserole. Very delicious.... and there is a vegetarian option if desired. I will share the recipe if anyone is interested. Thankfully it is fairly quick to put together. I browned and drained and rinsed the hamburg yesterday, so I should be able to throw it together quickly tonight. And the next two nights are crockpot meals (thank goodness it is still soup weather!).

PLanned out the meals for the men left behind while DD and I are in Disney and got some of those bought/started for the freezer. Was gonna make a quiche, but found one on sale in the deli at the grocery store.... marked down $3 cause of the date... so that went into the freezer for them. Broccoli and cheese with a real crust.... what a treat!!

Found a new healthy "treat" today..... cut a red bell pepper into large wedges.... stuff two wedges with LC light blue cheese.... very yummy! Next time I'll try light swiss! I'm not a fan of celery, but I love raw red bell pepper!

I'm gonna fly for now. TTYL......................P

No matter how much I tell myself I'm going to be better about checking in, it just doesn't happen...

Finally got the taxes done. Glad to see from some of your posts that I'm not the only procrastinator! DH teaches workshops around the country for the college board each summer and this year we had to prepare five state returns in addition to our federal! Just a little crazy, to say the least.

I, too, am having trouble staying motivated. I try to watch what I eat, but the exercise is eluding me (or am I just avoiding it...yeah, that's probably it!). I've been lucky not to gain back what I lost in the beginning of this challenge, but I seem to be stuck at 11 pounds. I'm hoping to get my head back into this challenge and get moving downward again!

Hoping to start watching Dr. Who again from last season so we will be ready for the premiere next Saturday night.

TTFN :tigger:

Tracey, I'm so psyched to see another Dr. Who fan! :woohoo: DH and I have watched it since the old days, and our dd got hooked when she saw "Barty Crouch" from HP on our show (she still loves David Tenant best...everyone has a special place in their hearts for their first doctor, don't you think?!). We're looking forward to the premiere also. Should be fun to see it set in the U.S.!

Gotta run! Have a great day, everyone!

~Lori

Afternoon Teams!

I'm taking a break for the 2nd time today. I went over to my mom's earlier and took care of the cats. Then came home and started on the kitchen. I'm going to have to run to Wally World because that kitchen floor is dirtier then a thought and the swiffer just isn't getting it clean. I also may pick something up to make for dinner while I'm out. Well, now come to think of it I have chicken fajita meat in the fridge that needs to be cooked up.

Everyone have a great day! I've got the country music station on the satelite right now nad just taking my time getting this stuff done.

Well, the scale is going up again another pound. I've put back 8lbs of the 15 that I lost a couple of months ago  Oh, well, I'm not going to let it bring me down b/c while I'm up half the amount I lost, my clothes certainly aren't :thumbsup2 I was sooooo excited this weekend when I went shopping! I was on a mission to Old Navy, determined to buy a nice spring dress that I have never owned in my life :rotfl: Really, I've always been intimidated by spring dresses, with my figure (top heavy), they just don't make spring dress big enough on top to cover the girls :lmao: (sorry guys if that was TMI). Anyways, since I've gone down 2 sizes, I was determined to celebrate by buying a new spring dress, worse come to worse, I'd just wear a tank top under it. So I start by picking out XXL and XL, go try them on, and waste 30 minutes in the dressing room because they were WAY to big  I don't know why I keep grabbing them, I just don't give myself credit for losing weight.

So I ended up with 3 new dresses in size large! Woohoo! :woohoo: I nearly had a stroke when the total came up on the register, I'm extremely frugal. But I deserved this, so I marched right into my house, bags in hand, and told DH just how much I spent :yay: :rotfl: He honestly didn't care, he thinks I'm too frugal too, so he was pleased :thumbsup2

So I got my 60 minute run in today during lunch, working on my water, and we're having fajita salad for dinner!

Have a great day everyone!

Nicole :upsidedow

Lori- We're watching some more of the episodes from last season right now! I loved David Tennant and "Donna" but I also am enjoying Matt Smith and "Amy". They are cute together. Hoping Rory will be in it more this season. He's so funny.

Sorry I haven't been on today. I am feeling much better today. Thanks for the good wishes. The winds were short lived last night.

I spent the morning bringing down all the clothes tubs from the attic. I have taken 7 bags to the clothing recycling bin at the grocery store and have 5 more in the car for tomorrow morning. I have 5 tubs of little girls clothes for a friend of mine and a tub of maternity clothes that I may try and consign.

I found a lot of old clothes with great memories attached to them including a dress I wore for my niece's christening 14 years ago! IT FITS! The dress I wore the day Brian and I got engaged! It FITS and I'm taking it to the dry cleaners so I can wear it for Easter. I also found a fancy dress that I wore on our honeymoon! IT FITS!!!! It was so exciting to try these on again and actually be able to wear them! I am definitely comfortable where I am now.

I have been eating very poorly today and didn't exercise. I plan on getting up tomorrow and getting in a workout before I go to work. We're having jambalaya for supper that's made with kielbasa, chicken, salsa and rice though I may use egg noodles tonight. It's very simple. I found it in a healthy menus cookbook in the grocery store check out line many years ago and this was our favorite recipe. We had cold cut roll ups and chips for lunch and just had some breadsticks for a snack. I've had a few drinks as well. It's a holiday here so we're enjoying ourselves. We're going to do the garage on Thursday when the weather is nice again. I plan on working on the storage room tomorrow night and Wednesday.

Our dryer stopped working. We think it's just the belt as it starts and then stops again. They are coming to check it out tomorrow afternoon so I need to clean up the laundry room this evening. I have a lot of wet clothes that I will have to wash again tomorrow. Otherwise, we will have to buy a new one tomorrow after I get home from work.

We also found some old sports jerseys and sweatshirts! I'm so excited to find these things again. I found some skorts from several years ago as well that still fit. Izzie is set for summer clothes and Ash has inherited some of my old clothes.

As long as you send in your weigh in by 2 Tuesday afternoon it will get counted. We have soccer practices tomorrow night as long as it doesn't rain. Brian and I plan on walking the track during that time.

I signed up for the Relay for Life in my town this morning. I am on a team named Be Well! Our walk is May 20-21. I'm really looking forward to this great and rewarding event!

Ok, I think I've rambled enough! Time for one of my favorite episodes of Dr. Who from last season!

I feel your pain. That has been the biggest adjustment to going g-f. I really have to plan or go hungry! Can you have nuts? I love hardboiled eggs. We'll boil a dozen at a time and just eat them all week. Yum!

thanks to everyone who wished for my safe trip!

there was a tornado in raleigh and it appears that the weather there killed 24 people! we were in durham which is basically right next door and we had some crazy wind but essentially nothing! sounds like we got pretty lucky!
I'm glad you made it back ok! Hope the appointment goes well.:goodvibes

I went to an intro to spin class last Sunday, and while I want to do more, I'm a little worried because of a lingering pain in my leg, on the side just below my hip. A full week later and it still hurts pretty bad. Anyone have any experience with this?
If it is the outside of your leg, it might be your itb. I am dealing with a nasty case of itbs right now--I ignored the hip soreness for a long time. I have had to stretch, use the foam roller and do strenthening exercises for my gluteus medius. If it goes from sore to pain you probably want to see someone. My pain showed up in my knee and it was pretty bad. Good luck!

:wave2: Has anyone seen my motivation? :confused3 I seem to have lost some of it.

She has a "challenge" today for her seat in band (the kid in the chair below hers is challenging her so he can move up) so she is nervous. I will be nervous for her all day too. I hope they find out the results today.
I hope you find your exercise motivation soon! I have been doing a bunch of arm stuff since I hurt my knee--nothing like muscley arms for summer.:goodvibes Just a thought. I hope it goes well for your DD today.

I'm the same way, music just isn't motivational to me either. I much rather enjoy watching a good, intense tv show like House, Law and Order, or 48 Hours. Something to keep my mind of running. I also prefer to have the subtitles on so I can read it, I find that helps too, to have something else to concentrate on.

Nicole
I like to read the subtitles and listen to music at the same time. I don't know what that says about me.;) I watch sportscenter and listen to music. Tv shows really make it go faster!

Happy monday everyone!!

I took the day off, and might get tomorrow off too since it's school vacation and work is quiet. We got up at 3:45 this morning and went down to Lexington and saw the reenactment of the first battle of the American Revolution. It was pretty interesting, but cold. Michael really enjoyed it, and I'm glad we did it.
Since then I've been relaxing and watching the Boston Marathon on tv, and I must say this is the first time I've actually sat and watched the entire coverage, and have loved it. Usually the tv will be on and I'll catch bits and pieces. It is so inspiring, and the elite americans did so well.

Have a great day!:)
What a great day! That sounds like so much fun! That is the kind of stuff Michael will always remember. :goodvibes

I have that song on my ipod too! And I'd love to see the recipe if it appears to be g-f if you get a minute.:goodvibes

~Lori
Maybe try something new or find an exercise buddy. I hope you are moving down again soon!

Really, I've always been intimidated by spring dresses, with my figure (top heavy), they just don't make spring dress big enough on top to cover the girls :lmao: (sorry guys if that was TIA).

Congrats on the new dresses. Ok, Dave and Matt--close your eyss for a minute.;) I was always pretty top heavy. It was the last thing to budge when I lost--and sooooo frustrating. Anyhow, I started at 40D and now am in a 34D (the d is smaller as the band gets smaller) and can probably get into a 32. And the best part is I can wear small and medium off the rack dresses! So congratulations and hang in there--I no longer feel like I the girls are leading me around so it's kind of nice.:thumbsup2

I signed up for the Relay for Life in my town this morning. I am on a team named Be Well! Our walk is May 20-21. I'm really looking forward to this great and rewarding event!

Ok, I think I've rambled enough! Time for one of my favorite episodes of Dr. Who from last season!

TTFN :tigger:
Congratulations Tracey! And very exciting about Relay for Life!:goodvibes

We have another bb game tonight. Someone asked about the g-f beer. They know us now, so they are taking good care of us. We might be the only ones buying g-f beer! I am doing some emotional eating lately. I need to go back and read that article! Lots going on here, but hopefully things will settle down soon. Have a great evening! I will definitely be having a g-f beer tonight!

My energy puked out about 3pm. I got most of the kitchen cleaned and my desk for the most part cleaned off. I'm going to Wally World later tonight to get some things and then going to finish everything up tomorrow. Then I'll start on our bathroom/bedroom as well. I'm not going to do as much cleaning tomorrow considering I have a hair apt around 3. I can't wait to get my hair done! The last time was before Christmas last year.

I am happy with my loss for this last week (1.5) and have a goal of hitting 1.5-2 for this week.

I don't really have an answer to the QOTD, I don't usually listen to music if I go to the gym (they have TVs), and when I do I just have a very mismatched collection of my favorites: 80's, Disney, Veggie Tales, Comedy, Muppets, Christmas and some other odd things. I am sure that if anyone ever looked at my Ipod they would think I have a multiple personality disorder! Music really isn't motivational to me.

nice solid weight loss.

i have been told i must have multiple personality because of my verrrrry wide range of music on my ipod!

I'm the same way, music just isn't motivational to me either. I much rather enjoy watching a good, intense tv show like House, Law and Order, or 48 Hours. Something to keep my mind of running. i've started watching shows on my iphone while doing the elliptical instead of listening to music. helps pass the time better.

So glad you had a nice visit in NC and didn't get hit with those crazy storms! And, no I am nowhere near ready for Easter!!

Bad eating weekend for me with a trip to the California Pizza Kitchen (bad choices from the menu).

LOVE CPK!

Happy monday everyone!!

I took the day off, and might get tomorrow off too since it's school vacation and work is quiet. We got up at 3:45 this morning and went down to Lexington and saw the reenactment of the first battle of the American Revolution. It was pretty interesting, but cold. Michael really enjoyed it, and I'm glad we did it.

that sounds right up my alley! i would have definitely been there! love history!

Hope everything is good at the OB appointment. I'm sure you'll be fine! Good for you for getting right back into a healthy eating pattern after your fun weekend.

I tried my first spin class this past Friday. It was a combined beginner/intermediate class and he totally kicked my butt!

I will share the recipe if anyone is interested.

i've never done a spin class before - seems very intimidating!

wait - mennonite and low carb in the same sentence? i don't believe it! lol! my mom is part pennsylvania dutch and her grandmother was a mennonite. the only spices they seem to use are salt, butter, and more butter. i'd like that recipe. i love eggplant.

So I ended up with 3 new dresses in size large! Woohoo! :woohoo:

awesome! nothing better than buying clothes in a new (lower) size! i'm interested in what dresses you got - i have huge knockers and all the pretty spring dresses are made for people who have nothing going on up top. i can never find something that fits me and covers me properly. i really had showing cleavage!

I will definitely be having a g-f beer tonight!

enjoy your beer! i admit that i had a guinness on friday (with food) and it was delicious. i mean, hey, my aunt in ireland was told by her doctors to have a guinness every day while she was pg!

i am a total emotional eater. what is your food of choice? can you make a healthier choice? i just picked up 6 navel oranges. they are great because they take alot of time to eat and even if you eat two the calories aren't that bad. and, they are fairly filling!

***************

didn't have that great of an eating day but not as bad as it could have been i guess. scrambled egg with a piece of whole wheat toast for breakfast. pb&j with a biiiig handful of cheezits and a not-so-big handful of swedish fish. for dinner i made meatballs. they were baked though...and DELICIOUS! yeah, we had pasta with it too. not great but not bad. the meatballs were such a hit with DH! can't get DS to eat meat but he ate the mini shell "ronis" :)

the big eating is def due to my anxiety about my appt tomorrow. i wish i could be one of those pregnant people who just enjoy it all and not worry about the "what ifs".

oh and guess what - it's going to rain tomorrow. blah! i'm sick of the rain!!

Hi everyone. I know I have been gone for a while. Im just really feeling stressed right now with all that I have going on- work, school, more school, research, the wedding, my upcoming cruise, and just life. I end courses for life in one month so I hope to regain some time back, but for now, I wont be able to be back on here for a few weeks. I just trying to focus on getting past this one month period :sad1: I hope you are all doing well!

Jeanette

So funny story for today...

I went for my followup biometric scan today (to earn my last 100 bucks from my work for improving my BMI) and when I entered the lady asked if I was there for a height and weight check- to which I replied yes I think I'm taller now. She (and the rest of the room got a kick out of that) when it was my turn for the height check I actually DID grow an inch :confused3 so instead of being 2 ish lbs over "Normal" like I expected (just didnt want to wait another month to test!) came in as "Normal" BMI :rotfl: When I was congratulated I simply replied- Now bring on the cheeseburgers!

But the end of the day the word is this: I AM NO LONGER PART OF THE OVERWEIGHT AMERICANS STATISTIC!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Unless in fact I am truly 5' 3" then I can say that in 2.1 lbs :) :rotfl:

 I just lost my almost completed post!

I'll try to remember what I said.

I had an OP day today. I used one of my weeklies to have lowfat (not fat free) frozen yogurt for dessert. I still have 18 left for tomorrow and Wednesday. Starting my weeks on Thursday seems to be working very well. I don't know what it is about starting one day earlier :confused3, but it's been great. :yay:

P: I hadn't thought about allergies. I was told that I have them, but I never pursued it. I always thought that they were no big deal. I pushed through a lot of lightheadedness at work today, so maybe now would be a good time to look into having allergies. I'm actually quite proud of myself for persisting and pushing through and continuing to work. Vertigo is harder to push through, but any day when I am able to work all 8 hours plus 1.5 hours of OT despite not feeling even 75% is a victory in my book! :cool1:

Lindsay and Lisa: Amazing runs!

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

congrats on your weight loss! that's so funny that you actually DID grow! i grew three inches in college which i was thrilled about but hoped i'd keep going. lol. nope, stopped at 5'4". it is such a great feeling to enter normal BMI land. i was thrilled when i finally made it back after having my son.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

thanks!! you too!!

food of choice for emotional eating--carbs! I think it might be pms too--that would be three months in a row! Woohoo! (gluten really messed with things) Have a good appointment. :)

CC--my allergies have really been acting up this spring. Everyone around here is coughing and sneezing. Definitely worth looking into. I have had mild vertigo before with allergies. Hang in there.

Pamela--I've been thinking about the comment you made about weighing everyday, and trying to explain in my mind what I get out of it. I think I get two things. One, it keeps me real--I know I've been pushing it lately with the food and the scale is showing it. So, I will hopefully get things under control before things go far. And two, I learn to see patterns--like after long runs (10+ miles) I need to drink more water because my weight also creeps up for a couple days. And since my t.o.m. is so irregular I can sometimes figure out when it's coming by the scale. I guess it's what I do instead of counting calories or doing points. And as long as I am in my maintain range it's not too stressful. I can definitely see where it isn't for everybody. It just helps to keep me honest. :)

We had a good night. We left right when the rain started. I made a fabulous pizza last night. Udi's crust (which is very thin), olive oil around the edge, hummus, mix of cheddar and mozz cheese, beans, and salsa. Delicious!

I am really doing some mindless eating right now. I am going to focus on that today. And I am going to go to the Y. We are running tomorrow.

DS will be home for the summer. So big adjustments coming. Hopefully he will find something productive to do!

Have a great day everyone! Last day of work for me until next Tuesday!:goodvibes

QOTD Tuesday, April 19
Do you have an "emergency" plan for a healthy dinner for those days when things go crazy and you just can't cook?

Good morning Teams

Sorry I haven't been on much the last couple of days. Dh is painting the family room and has to unplug the modem to get some things done. I am also sick and have not had any energy for the last couple of days. Yesterday was spent just laying on the couch sleepingon and off. I feel like I have been hit by a train. At least I don't have to take any time off. I blae dh. He was sick last week and now I have it.

The ceiling is painted and the walls are done. It looks really pretty. Very calming. Just the trim left to do. I don't know if he is going to do it today or tomorrow. Two days up and down a ladder really got to him so I think he may take today off.

I didn't jounral for the last two days but I am starting back up today. How is everyone else is doing with journaling.

I am off to get a shower and try to get something done today.

Have a happy and healthy day.

A quick drive by post...

Got up and did a 3 mile WATP. I always feel better once it's done. My left knee was aching a bit so I put some ointment on it while I was working out and it feels better.

Gotta go shower and then make sure there is room for the guy to fix the dryer today. Working from 9-2. I'm on desk duty from 9-12:15 when me co-worker comes and then I have my regular hot stone client at 12:30.

Sending Brian to the dump after I get home. We have a lot of plastic and cardboard to get rid of as well as trash. Hoping the girls have soccer tonight so I can walk at the track.

Better run so I can leave here in 50 minutes. I need to stop at the dry cleaners and drop off more bags of clothes.

TTFN :tigger:

PS Results will go up some time tonight!

Good morning, friends.

I got today off.:woohoo: So excited. We are going to meet a friend of michael's for bowling this afternoon, and then michael has baseball practice. We need to sit down today and make a summer camp plan. He'll spend the first week and a half with my family, 7 days total, and then will have 6 weeks of camp. He's chosen different camps each year versus going to the same one all week. We have the town rec dept, our Y, and the Y in the next town over to chose from. Since he has to go to camp, it's nice for him to have the control over where he goes.

I also think I"ll take a page from Tracey's book and go through all the summer clothes and clean out our closets and bureaus. Thanks for the inspiration, tracey.

Nancy-Good luck at your appt today. I hope you get a sneak peak with the ultrasound.

Rose- your pizza sounds delicious. I am a bit jealous of your baseball time and the beer you get with it. If only the snackbar at our little league park had alcohol, it would make those cold nights so much easier.:lmao:

CC- YOu are doing so well with the eating. I am so proud of you. Glad you are able to work, but hope you are feeling better soon.

Pamela-So excited for you and your trip!! 16 days now!!!! I love living vicariously through others disney trips. You have done so well with sb, too. Sorry about the scale. It's funny, I do need to step on the scale to know I where I am at, but I don't get upset with a big gain over a day if I have been good because I know it's false, fluid, salt, etc, but if I've been eating more than I should, but not gaining, and then I have a big gain all of a sudden, that will help to get me back on track. But the being a little off track, and not seeing it on the scale, probably lets me continue to eat too much, and then I don't lose. It is a head game. But I'm addicted. have to weigh daily.

Hello to everyone else, and hugs to anyone struggling.

I did not journal yesterday. First day since we started the journalling challenge. No excuse, really, I didn't go crazy or anything, just didn't do it. So today it's right on the kitchen table, and I will get back to it.

Have a great day everyone. :)

Do you have an "emergency" plan for a healthy dinner for those days when things go crazy and you just can't cook?
I have some Palermo's frozen pizza's in the freezer, and probably not the healthiest, but they're thin crust, and 1/3 of the pizza is 7 points, 330 calories, so not too bad, and definitely better than a fast food. I'll throw leftover vegies on my portion too. Ds doesn't like vegies on his pizza.

I didn't jounral for the last two days but I am starting back up today. How is everyone else is doing with journaling.
Maybe it was the moon that affected our jounalling yesterday. ;) Back on today!!! We can do this!!:thumbsup2 Hope you're feeling better soon, Dona.

**Vent ahead.... feel free to skip if desired.**

Morning friends....... I just need a moment here to vent. I had a terrible ride in to school this morning with DD and it has left me so frustrated and sad. It was a silly disagreement over a school form (the extended absence form for our trip) and she (IMHO) absolutely overreacted and blew up because she didn't like the way I completed the form. It really doesn't matter much what happened other than that, suffice to say it has just left me feeling miserable today. I will need to pull myself together for my first grade class I am in today, but it will be tough.

I'll spend a few minutes here reading and trying to change my mental attitude and a few minutes in prayer before my class gets here. I want to send DD a txt because I'm sure she isn't feeling great either.... but not sure what to say. I don't necessarily need to apologize because it wasn't my issue.... she just didn't care for how I filled out the form and rather than just either deal with it and go on with the day or get another form for me to complete, she completely overreacted and blew a gasket and yelled and carried on, which of course, lead me to yelling back. So I guess I could apologize for yelling and maybe for filling out the form in a way that wasn't satisfactory for her (although honestly, I saw nothing wrong with what I wrote).

Ahhhh.... life with teens. :headache: I didn't even get a hug or kiss when I left her at school. :guilty: I see a crummy day ahead for both of us.... but hopefully she can shake it off before her chemistry test this morning.......P

Kathy- Izzie got practically her whole summer wardrobe out of the deal! SHe has 3 tubs of Ash's old summer clothes! She got a bunch of skorts and lots of dresses and shirts!

I found some old skorts that fit again as well! I love wearing skorts! I feel dressed up but not overly dressed!
