Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

Today ended up being a calmity of error from sunup to sundown. The good news is that it is over and nothing too bad happened. Tomorrow is a new day and is sure to be better.

Unfortunately all of this sadness had lead to eating upon eating. I had the courage to get back on the scale this morning and was only up a few pounds. I have PT tonight and then it's back to spin class at 6:30. I hope to keep up on the exercise since I have signed up for a 5K on May 14th and am thinking about another on June 11th for the Valerie Fund.

Hug your loved ones and make great choices

I'm so sorry that you had to go through all this. Good job getting on the scale, facing the music and getting back on track! :thumbsup2

QOTD Monday 4/4 What do YOU do to get back on track?

When I don't stick to my diet, like most people, I want to yell "screw it" and make an epic run to the McDonald's drive thru. Oh man, that urge is strong. It's a slippery slope. I was bad this weekend and right now my body is screaming out for some junk food.

I have found that it helps to talk about it. Luckily I have my wife (TimonTracy from former Team Donald) on this journey with me. We will analyze why we ate the way we did. Why we thought we deserved or needed to to eat what we did and then work on a plan to eat better. It is not fun to have these discussions, but they are usually not long. They are good because we are holding each other accountable. I have found it is much easier to let myself down than to let someone else down.

Isn't that the truth? :thumbsup2 It is wonderful that you and DW are on the same page on this healthy lifestyle thing -- it makes things better for the whole family.

QOTD Monday 4/4 What do YOU do to get back on track?

I usually start back over on a Monday. I start planning meals out and planning exericse routines out. I normally do that when I'm on track but life gets chaotic and I slip up and forget and then before I know it weeks have gone by without me doing it.

Hope that you are feeling better today. Take care of yourself! :flower3:

I did good so far today. I usually always get MC'd's for Breakfast. Mostly just a hashbrown and diet soda but on occasions I have been naughty and also got a buscuit with bacon and cheese on it. Anyway today since starting my 2wk plan I was not going to stop there.

Good job resisting the siren's call of the drive through, Lindsay! :thumbsup2 Can you fix yourself a breakfast sandwich at home or stop by Subway for an egg white sandwich? I think pjlla or mikamah have a good recipe for a breakfast sandwich they make in the microwave. Ladies?

Got an unexpected workout yesterday, we went to the zoo, and DS, instead of walking, wanted to run to each exhibit so guess who got to run after him :lmao: At least it's nice to know that I can keep up with him now without being ready to die, makes an hour on the treadmill totally worth it :thumbsup2

Glad that you feel like you are able to keep up with DS 'cause it seems like they only run away faster from you as time goes on. :lmao:

Hello BL friends! Just popping in quickly. Got back from my trip to Poland late last night and didn't get to bed until 1:00 am. DS is still on his 10 day exchange trip to Spain until Friday April 8 so I was able to sleep in late today thank goodness. I'm getting everything ready for a quick 2 day trip to London this Weds/Thurs.

Hi Shawn! :wave2: so glad that you had a great time in Poland and now you are jet setting off to London -- wow! princess:

Your time in Europe is speeding past. I don't know how the real estate market is where you are moving but my long time realtor clients tell me that we are bouncing along the bottom and may be for a bit longer. You might find some good deals. :thumbsup2

long day, though things went pretty well at the chiropractor. He said he still thinks there is a good chance I can do the half at the of April if I run/walk intervals. We made a hotel reservation in Memphis for the weekend in case we decide to do the music festival instead. I did 4 miles on the elliptical after the chiropractor--and lifted weights. I could not have done 4 miles two weeks ago, so definite improvement.

Anyhow, I won't bore you all with the details of my day. I will just say--little kids, little problems, big kids, big problems. And today was a doozy.

I might do replies later, or might not be back until tomorrow. :goodvibes

Sorry for the doozy part. But I'm so happy for you that you had good news from the chiropractor! :flower3:

Pamper Week, Tuesday:

This is more of a challenge. When you post, quote the person who posted before and give him/her a compliment, congrats, etc.

Thanks to Lisah for the inspiration!

Thank you, CC, for being our HH coach and thinking of ways to make us happier and healthier! :flower3:

Did just 30 minutes on the TM.... and not particularly fast, since I had just eaten dinner (I try to NEVER exercise with food in my belly).... but it was a good solid 30 minutes of alternating hills..... plus I followed it up with some crunches, planks, wall sits, etc. Tomorrow morning I will do a WATP video (45 minutes) with ankle/wrist weights, plus some free weights.

I sauteed some extra veggies tonight to add to my egg
whites in the morning.... onion, sundried tomatoes (packed in oil, but I drain them and blot them well), and roasted red peppers. I think it will be delicious with the egg whites.

Not sure what time I'll be able to be on here tomorrow, but I'll definitely try to be here at some time! TTYL.........P

Wow! Great job exercising after dinner tonight and doing so much! :goodvibes Your veggies for breakfast sound yummy. I was wondering what would work for veggies for breakfast when I was looking at a SB suggested menu. Broccoli for breakfast would be an adjustment for me. ;)

And I agree with Rose -- get some new shoes so you don't get foot problems. :flower3: I see a lot of clearance shoes as the seasons are changing -- maybe an online coupon or a WISH discount? You are so worth it! :thumbsup2

Nancy--how was your appointment?

I try to pick one thing to be successful at. It might be that I'm slacking on the exercise or the water or the food planning. But if I try to pick everything at once I get overwhelmed. So I focus on one thing until I am feeling more in control.:goodvibes

The one thing to be successful and build onto it is a great strategy, Rose! :goodvibes

Nancy, I'm wondering about you, too! :flower3:

Hello All...
Popping in and introducing myself, I just joined this challenge today and am very excited to have some support on this journey.

My name is Amy , I am 30somthing and have been battling my weight all my life. I really need to lose 100-120lbs. As I get older it is harder to carry the weight "well" I am starting to feel run down and have pains I never had before.

I am hoping to lose 50lbs before August 17th....

Oh and I am on Team Mickey!

thanks
AmyB

:welcome: Amy! Thanks for joining our challenge! :flower3:

Take your big goal and break it down into smaller goals. Baby steps, baby steps and you will be on your way before you know it. You've done the hard part by deciding to get started. You can do it! :thumbsup2

BRB with the QOTD for tomorrow.

In honor of Earth Day coming up today's QOTD is a recycled question from a previous challenge. :hippie:

QOTD Tuesday 4/5/11 Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's Off to Lose Weight We Go! (recycling from the last BL Challenge -- it's good for the environment!) If you were one of the seven dwarfs, which one would you be today -- Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Doc, Sneezy, Bashful or Dopey?

A big thank you to Worfiedoodles who first posed this question to us. And kudos to corinnak, mommyof2Pirates, mikamah, and Rose&Mike for keeping our QOTD archives in a handy spot! :goodvibes

I'll be back to answer for tomorrow as right now I am feeling like Sleepy.

Have a great night all!

NSV alert!

Last week I went in for an annual exam IYKWIM, and they did a cholesteral check. My doctor warned me ahead of time that it would be high since it wasn't a fasting check, and not to freak if the number was above 200.

Well, today the letter came in the mail and my number was 184, just about 20 pts. less than last year. :yay:

Woo hoo on the NSV! :woohoo: That was great news! All your hard work is paying off! :thumbsup2

Today ended up being a calmity of error from sunup to sundown. The good news is that it is over and nothing too bad happened. Tomorrow is a new day and is sure to be better.

Aw, bless your heart. Take it easy on yourself and tomorrow will be better, I hope. :flower3:

You have all been great! But this thread may be going too fast for me. I think that I am going to have to bough out. I only am able to check back once ever day or two. So I may have bit off more than I can chew.

thanks lisa0177 it's been a long time coming! life is pretty good in most other areas so time to get the body in order :goodvibes

Sleepy for sure. Not getting a lot of rest lately and I'm not sure why. Maybe just to much on my mind.

pjlla - I think your osmosis got lost on the way!! LOL

I woke up at 7:58 this morning!! We have to leave at 8:00! We managed to get out of the house in 15 minutes but DS10 was late for school. It was easier to skip dropping him off first so DS9 wasn't late. Then back to the public school to drop DS10 off late and DD5 off on time.
I've been running late all day because of it. So, I'm headed up to bed now and see if I can catch up on some sleep.

Have a good morning everyone! I'll pop back in soon.

Don't give up yet Eva. Things will settle down soon. It's just hopping because we merged Donald and Mickey.

I usually try to somewhat keep up by skimming the email notifications. And then just skim for my name and QOTD.

Some people don't post much at all, they just do the Healthy Habits and the weigh ins.

Good Tuesday morning Teams

I woke up this morning and realized that all my dreams last night were about my kids passing the AP exam. I feel like I spent the night teaching 5 more classes. Only 29 more days and it will all be over.

You have all been great! But this thread may be going too fast for me. I think that I am going to have to bough out. I only am able to check back once ever day or two. So I may have bit off more than I can chew.

Just skim when you can and post when you can. This place has a great deal of support. Good luck running the Everest. A few other people on this thread are also running it.

Rose and my3princes and BernardandMissBianca :grouphug: I hope today is better than yesterday. Things look better after a night's sleep.

I spent 2 hours with a friend going through costumes, moving them, sorting them and moving boxes. I woke up pretty achy.

I have a lot to do today so I will be back later.

Have a happy and healthy day.

I'll post the results this afternoon!

QOTD: I love this question! Since it's now spring (yeah right) I'm Sneezy with a bit of Sleepy and since I'm Sleepy there's a bit of Grumpy. I'm married to Doc (doconeill). I'm never Bashful but most people call me Happy, I try to never be Dopey though it usually happens at least once a month (or week, lately).

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Ashleigh and I started reading Kingdom Keepers last night. We both finished chapter 1. She is reading it right now while eating her breakfast. I'm bringing it to work with me today and keeping it with me tomorrow to read. I told her she could have it with her at school on Thursday and Friday. We both will read it at our bedtimes! Hope to finish it by next week.

Have a great day! Need to make Ash's lunch and get dressed to take the walk to the bus stop!

Hi Amy! I agree with Lisa, just break down your goal. The hardest thing I had to learn was that I didn't put it on overnight and it sure wasn't coming off overnight. Just hang in there--you can do it.:goodvibes

Eva, I'm sorry to see you go. Things always slow down. Last summer I think we got down to where only 5 or 6 of us were posting regularly. You don't have to read everything, but I think the support here is invaluable. Good luck, whatever you decide.:goodvibes

Good morning! Have I mentioned what a poor choice it was to have gluten last week. I still have a stomach ache--not all the time, but a lot of the time. It's a little better every day, but still frustrating. The good news is I might kick these last couple of pounds to the curb, cause I just can't eat very much right now. There's a great weight loss strategy for you.:rotfl: My knee was sore when I went to bed last night, but feels good this morning. The best it has felt after seeing the chiropractor. I'm going to try to run on Wednesday. It's going to be in the 70s so I am going to the park! So exciting.

I might go get new shoes tonight. I think I am going back to my old blue running shoes--I think they are saucony. The ones I have now have some bad mojo and I think they might be part of the problem.

Have a great day everyone!:goodvibes

HH--complement the person who posted before you.
Tracey--I love your upbeat attitude and I love how much you love your family! And I love how real you are about this whole weight loss thing. You are fitting it into your everyday life and I think that's fabulous! :)

Thanks, Rose!

I see people talking about small steps.

When I first started my journey, I laid out a pair of red jeans that I wanted to wear again. I put them on every morning until, FINALLY, they fit! I then pulled out another pair of pants that I wanted to wear and just focused on those until they fit. I kept this up! At Christmas I FINALLY got into the dress from our rehearsal dinner 13 years ago! It felt great to wear it! That was 50 pounds ago!!

It's still a struggle especially on weekends for me! I'm trying to get in at least a 2 mile workout everyday. Hoping to start walking with my neighbor again a few mornings a week by the end of the month and now I get a weekly walk with Redwalker. I may be able to come home an hour early today so I will do a 3, 4, or 5 mile workout then before the kids get home and I plan on doing 2 miles on the elliptical tonight as well!

Gotta finish getting Izzie ready for school and me ready for work! Shake for breakfast and protein bar for lunch! Leftover chicken on a salad for supper. NO FRITOS and SALSA CON QUESO tonight! That was not a smart choice last night!!!!

good morning everyone! i didn't log on last night and decided to just relax and watch tv after DS went to bed. the doctor's visit went well! i had an u/s and we got to see and hear the heartbeat. i'm measuring exactly what i thought i would be (6 weeks) and my due date is november 25th. oh boy! here we go! t

he bad thing is that our new insurance doesn't cover this doctor and we asked him if there is anything he can do for us as far as his charges. he told us that he's going to stop delivering in august and finally retire so maybe it's a good sign to go to someone else anyway. the guy he recommends is the doc two blocks away who covers for him. i've met him and he seems nice. and he takes our insurance. anyway, i have to go back to my regular guy anyway in two weeks for a pap so i guess i'll see him one last time. it's sad, really. i love this guy so much and we've been through alot. he said that he'd always be around for me even if i go to the other guy and of course i got choked up.

anyway, so i'm pregnant. like for real! lol. i still can't believe it. but i guess god works in mysterious ways and things happen for a reason!

in college and before children i was totally Doc - the ring leader! with my son now i'm a mixture of 75% Happy and 25% Sleepy. and now pregnant? forget it - i'm half Sleepy and half Dopey! My husband is definitely Sneezy. he has the worst allergies.

Good Tuesday morning Teams

I woke up this morning and realized that all my dreams last night were about my kids passing the AP exam. I feel like I spent the night teaching 5 more classes. Only 29 more days and it will all be over.

i remember getting ready for the AP Calc exam like it was yesterday. i STILL to this day have nightmares about not knowing the sin, ***, and tan functions! lol!

good luck getting through the next month. all your kids will get 5s!!!! :)

I would say sleepy--and is there a stressed out dwarf--I need that one.:thumbsup2

HH--complement the person who posted before you.

stress-out dwarf! lol! i wonder what his name would be? Boozer? hehe.

I really enjoy reading all of your posts, Rose. You are very inspirational to all of us. Sure, you're dealing with knee issues and gluten/belly issues but you are very honest with us about your struggles and you are overcoming them with grace. we are all working on weight loss and it's great to use you as an example. for instance, when i get down and out and stressed, i want to turn to food. but knowing that you too have up and down days and are still successful in your weight loss/maintenance in spite of those down days is a real inspiration! thank you :)

oh by the way, i made lisa's chile verde pork last night (see the BL recipe thread) and it was a total winner. served it on whole wheat tortillas (yeah, ok with cheese and sour cream but not alot) and it was great!! DH is taking some for lunch today!

Rose I love the way that you always make lemons out of lemonade. You're feeling yucky from the gluten, but you're making the most of it by shedding a few lbs. You always find the good in the situation :thumbsup2

Today's QOTD: I think I'm most like Doc. Always in charge. That can be a blessing and a burden, but I am who I am :confused3

Colby is home with me again today. His cough was really bad when I got home last night, but I gave him some dimetap and delsym and he seemed to sleep well. Hoping that he'll get in a good nap today and kick this cold to the curb. I have a bunch of lacrosse paperwork to process today. I've been making headway and actually typed most of it in while we were away this weekend. Now I need to talk to US Lacrosse to see how I go about submitting everything and coordinate refs. I need this all behind me before I start work on Thursday.

Expecting tanning at the spa to be busy today since it's such an icky day out!

I think I'll start to do some reading now! Of course, then the people will start coming in!

I was able to get a lot done today. I'm worried about my wardrobe for the London trip as I am going with 2 very style concious ladies. But, I guess they've seen what I usually wear and they'll just have to live with it Clothes here are so expensive and they don't have much above a size 12 Maybe I will find some things in London. I don't care so much about walking around the streets and shopping but we have a reservation for High Tea at the Wollsely (I think that's the name!?!) and another to see a play. I hope jeans/top/danskos are appropriate cause that's all I've got! I may throw on a nice scarf or long chain necklace to dress it up. Anyway, I did not gain any weight on my Poland trip. It was a very interesting trip but a lot of bickering amongst the group-39 people. My friend that I invited really disappointed me, she has no patience to wait for anything or anyone so she walked ahead and left me many times. She did this on the last group trip too so I was not totally surprised. I don't think there will be any other trips with her! She also never stops talking and pointing things out and explaining things that I already know. It's exhausting !

DH and I sat down tonight to try to figure out some things for our move back home. We've signed DS up for 2 Summer camps the first 2 weeks of July. We think I will take a house-hunting trip back in mid May. I moved DS's appt to get his braces off up a week so I will be home then to take him. We looked at houses online, both for rent and for sale. We have a phone appt tomorrow with the Dean of students at the HS we want DS to go to. I also threw out the idea that we could buy a small home to live in until we find one we really like and then rent out the smaller house. We feel like we need to be so careful buying a house right now. There's a lot of bargains but prices are continuing to fall so when should we buy? (rhetorical question, LOL!) Anyway, just taking these few steps has started to ease my mind a little. I hope to stay here until the end of August. DH starts his job Aug 8. We will vacate the apt Aug 1 and DH flys back then. Friends here have invited me to house sit/pet sit for them in August so I have a place to stay. Just need someone to hang out with!

I'm slowly catching up on the thread; my plan is to read 2 days every day until I'm all caught up and then I can start responding daily to everyone, I think by next week. I did 45 mins on the elliptical this morning and we had a very nice supper of tuna and quinoa salad. Congrats to all who are having successes and if you aren't right now, don't give up! Keep making those little changes day by day until they become habits.

Have a great week everyone:wizard:

Enjoy London Shawn! It's one of my favorite cities :) Best of luck with the house! I just bought my condo in 2009 and in NJ the prices have been pretty stable. I hope you find something you like!

Well.... good evening friends! Dinner was good, but I'm afraid I had too many carbs in my veggie burger. I need to go ask over on the SB thread.

DD got a ride to Rainbow Girls, so I only had to run her 5 minutes up the rode....DS is doing homework (very slowly)right now. Having rehearsals for this play for 2 hours right after school is tough.... he comes home hungry and distracted and NOT ready to do school work. Just one week left and it will be done though.

You have inspired me to grab more veggies for the AM!! How did your eggs go this morning?

184 is AWESOME!!! Congratulations!

Today ended up being a calmity of error from sunup to sundown. The good news is that it is over and nothing too bad happened. Tomorrow is a new day and is sure to be better.

Hang in there!!! Sending lots of hugs

In honor of Earth Day coming up today's QOTD is a recycled question from a previous challenge.

I'll be back to answer for tomorrow as right now I am feeling like Sleepy.

Have a great night all!

This made me laugh since I am actually feeling quite Dopey this morning! You know those days when your brain is working faster than your mouth? I have had this problem all morning....has made some phone calls to parents quite interesting :scared1:

Hi Amy! I agree with Lisa, just break down your goal. The hardest thing I had to learn was that I didn't put it on overnight and it sure wasn't coming off overnight. Just hang in there--you can do it.:goodvibes

Good for you! That's very exciting.:goodvibes

 I hate days like that. I hope today is better.:goodvibes

I would say sleepy--and is there a stressed out dwarf--I need that one.:thumbsup2

Eva, I'm sorry to see you go. Things always slow down. Last summer I think we got down to where only 5 or 6 of us were posting regularly. You don't have to read everything, but I think the support here is invaluable. Good luck, whatever you decide.:goodvibes

I hate those days. I hope things are more on schedule today!

Thanks Dona! Hope all your kiddos do well on their tests.:goodvibes

Hang in there Rose! My Dr is now convinced I do not have a gluten allergy but am a carrier of the genes for the allergy (which is why I have only mild symptoms and not full blown symptoms). Couple this with a wacky almond allergy...I should just have a biscotti and call it a day

Best of luck with the new sneaks...I love the feel of new sneakers...so springy!

TTFN :tigger:

You are sooo inspirational!!! I have a skirt that I bought 3 years ago...still sitting in the closet with the tags on since I can not fit into it. I may have the courage to try it on tonight just to see how far I have to go. It's a summer skirt so I feel like I have some time...and hope to be in it comfortably by my birthday (July 11th). Thank you thank you thank you!

good morning everyone! i didn't log on last night and decided to just relax and watch tv after DS went to bed. the doctor's visit went well! i had an u/s and we got to see and hear the heartbeat. i'm measuring exactly what i thought i would be (6 weeks) and my due date is november 25th. oh boy! here we go! t

he bad thing is that our new insurance doesn't cover this doctor and we asked him if there is anything he can do for us as far as his charges. he told us that he's going to stop delivering in august and finally retire so maybe it's a good sign to go to someone else anyway. the guy he recommends is the doc two blocks away who covers for him. i've met him and he seems nice. and he takes our insurance. anyway, i have to go back to my regular guy anyway in two weeks for a pap so i guess i'll see him one last time. it's sad, really. i love this guy so much and we've been through alot. he said that he'd always be around for me even if i go to the other guy and of course i got choked up.

anyway, so i'm pregnant. like for real! lol. i still can't believe it. but i guess god works in mysterious ways and things happen for a reason!

in college and before children i was totally Doc - the ring leader! with my son now i'm a mixture of 75% Happy and 25% Sleepy. and now pregnant? forget it - i'm half Sleepy and half Dopey! My husband is definitely Sneezy. he has the worst allergies.

i remember getting ready for the AP Calc exam like it was yesterday. i STILL to this day have nightmares about not knowing the sin, ***, and tan functions! lol!

good luck getting through the next month. all your kids will get 5s!!!! :)

stress-out dwarf! lol! i wonder what his name would be? Boozer?

Congrats on the new bundle!! My sister is due in late October and we are just so tickled for her second little one :cloud9: She has been nautious with this little one so she can't wait to get out of her first trimester! Instead of calling her belly "the baby" we have begun to call it "nugget"...granted it is still the size of a grape at this point. Best wishes for your little nugget!

Lisa- My daughter's silliness from last night caught up with me this morning! I do go through all the dwarves in one day most of the time!

Expecting tanning at the spa to be busy today since it's such an icky day out!

I think I'll start to do some reading now! Of course, then the people will start coming in!

TTFN :tigger:

Thanks for the chuckle! I think there are days when we all feel like every dwarf!! Wouldn't it be nice if we all felt like Snow White too :flower3:

*****So, another day back at school. The kids are doing well with their colleges choices and I just had a wonderful conversation with an admissions counselor at Cornell. Yesterday I had a "goal setting" meeting with my boss and we were able to hash out a lot of concerns that I had. It's so nice when you and the boss are on the same page!!

I had PT last night and he kept it light since I was going to spin later. Spin seemed a bit easy last night....very strange. I have taken that class and instructor before and always killed myself by the end. Last night seemed easier...am I finally getting stronger muscles?? No PT tonight and my dinner date cancelled so it's back to spin at 6:30. Maybe I need to rachet up the resistance on the bike....ah, I can see tonight if that works.

Make great choices today!!

Not Sleepy (thanks to the 2 cups of coffee I just drank).

I would have to go with Happy. I am Happy because for 2 reasons.

Reason 1: I have recently started a new phase of my life. The huge, global law firm that I have worked for as a graphic designer for the past 8 years has dissolved. As of March 31st, they no longer exist. I am taking this opportunity to change the course of my life. Instead of getting a job at another law firm or legal consulting firm, I have decided to stay at home with my little girls. This has been a very liberating/terrifying decision. I know it will be difficult, but I am excited to get to spend time with my daughters. I am very happy with my choice and am looking forward to the challenges and joys it will bring.

Reason 2: It is a fantastic feeling to put on pants and they are too big. I have not had to buy new clothes because I have lost weight in a very very very long time. And I actually look forward to that shopping trip.

Those are the reasons that I am Happy this morning.
