Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

I finally have Great news to report. I am going to accept the job offer.

Congrats! Sounds like everything is going to work out great!

Morning losers,

:sick:Feeling absolutely horrible this morning!

Feel better soon! :flower3:

QOTD 3/30/11 Wednesday
Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

So many choices, but I'd have to say Happy Days was pretty much a must see every week, as was the Donny and Marie Show. But like many of you, I started many mornings with the Captain, Mr. Green Jeans, Moose and Bunny Rabbit, and I had my very own pair of Romper Stompers! :cool1:

QOTD 3/31/11 Thursday
If you could only stay at Disney for one night and full day, what would you do? Would you spend the money on a one day pass or would you just hang out outside the parks?

I'd have to go for the one day pass! I just can't imagine being there and not going to the Magic Kingdom to soak in all the pixie dust!

But I thought "Why not? I know they won't fit but at least I can see the change and maybe I would be close." And you know what I am going to say don't you...they slid on like they were made for this moment. And as always I checked the pockets and found an old ticket stub from the last time I wore them. On November 12, 2003 we saw The Haunted Mansion.

Guess what I am wearing today. My "bleach-less" jeans, size 40".

Dave

Congrats!
:cheer2: :dance3: :cheer2: :dance3:
It's always fun to see your loss in "real life", not just as a number on the scale!

Just popping in for a few minutes in the middle of a crazy day! I'm really going to make an attempt to be better about stopping in to catch up with everyone!

I heard that the bad weather forecast for the east coast is going to trail back to us a bit...only one or two inches of snow, but I'm SOOOO done with it this year! Yuck!

Have a great day~

~Lori

Hi everyone!

It's been a busy 2 days! Yesterday I got offered a position at my company's end-state corporate office. (We were bought out this summer and now are in the process of a merge with 2 other companies.) I'm not sure if I am going to accept it because it may require a move to Memphis, but it has given me a lot to think about over the last couple of days. I am still working on some negotiating to see what I can get out of the deal, so we will see. :)

I had a pretty terrible day of eating yesterday. There was surprise catered lunch at a meeting and I helped myself to all of the delicious food that isn't very good for me. And my fiance bought salsa last night, so I had some chips with dinner. Today is going to be a better day though!

QOTD 3/30/11 Wednesday
Let's go back in time! What was your favorite cartoon or tv show when you were a kid?

I think one of my favorites was the Bozo Show. I watched it every day before school. My siblings and I used to practice for the grand prize game in case we ever got to go to the show :rotfl:

I ask this question because my DH & I are arguing over this right now for our next trip. I vote ticket and Magic Kingdom!
(I hope this ? Is better than the one my DH suggested- scale of 1-10, how much do you wish your husband had red hair?) :rotfl2:

:lmao: I would probably do a day at a park. I have gone for just a day 3 times in the last 3 years, so it seems worth it to me :thumbsup2

So, I just finished 90 days of P90X and what am I going to do? I am going to Disney World. Yoo Hoo!!!

Lets keep up the good work everyone.

Dave

And you know what I am going to say don't you...they slid on like they were made for this moment. And as always I checked the pockets and found an old ticket stub from the last time I wore them. On November 12, 2003 we saw The Haunted Mansion.

Dave

 Awesome on both of these! I tried P90X but only made it about a month. The excuse I am making is that the time commitment was to big, :rolleyes1 but it is a great program!

Have an awesome day everyone!

Okay, I have been totally overwhelmed by the speed of this thread, but have loved reading it from the time it became the master thread. Catching up has taken me every single minute of my "fun computer time" from mid-day yesterday until just now. I think I was about 14 pages behind.

I hate to not catch up with everyone, but here is what I remember at the moment.

Deb – I am so happy to hear there is good news for you on the job front! Congratulations on the improved offer! That is so awesome! :yay: :yay: :yay: :woohoo:

Pam – I have thought of your DH so often and was thrilled to read how well he is doing.

Rose – How is your leg doing?

Tracey – So sorry you are sick. I don’t know if you have sinus problems but this time of year is so hard on me. I feel like I never feel completely well. I am always congested with a sore throat and at least a lingering headache if not a full-blown migraine. I am hoping you are feeling better very quickly.

Dave – I am so darned happy for you!!! You are such an amazing person and so disciplined and you DESERVED that jeans moment!!! Kudos to you!!!! :worship:

Congrats to all the losers this week, and especially to KristiMc!!!!! So glad that you are all seeing the results of your efforts on the scale.

I have to keep reminding myself that even if I am not seeing the results on the scale, I should still be happy about what I am seeing - my current jeans are all now too baggie in the back end to wear (they look ridiculous). My sport bras are all a bit loser and my normal bras are on the tightest hook and too loose. I can now get back into the smallest jeans I have ever worn as an adult (a bit of a muffin top but hardly) and all of my pants that haven’t fit since January 2009 fit again. How the scale can be so uncooperative, I have no idea. LOL!

As for me, life is completely crazy busy. Weekends are mostly spent away or with a house full of guests for various reasons/events. We are away this weekend again for a 1/2 marathon & 5k in Danbury, CT. We are in the midst of college selection for our DS17 and our "adopted" DS who is a scholarship student from Haiti who is doing his senior year at our son's private Catholic HS and living with us. Both boys are in the decision-making stages and this will necessitate some last-looks at campuses, including one in SC. We are also planning for both of their proms. Their graduation & baccalaureate events and celebration/communion breakfasts. Andrew (DS) is in the spring musical and it is very time-consuming for him and I am helping with costumes. DD is graduating from college -- the night (her department/college ceremony) of Andrew's and J's prom!!! and the next morning (university) We are also planning a huge blowout party for the day after Andrew & J's graduation, which has necessitated arranging for hotel rooms for a lot of people. Oh, and MIL will visit for 2 weeks to be here for all of those events.

Did I mention that we leave for Europe in 12 weeks and 2 days? :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

I PM'ed Tracey last week's weigh in too late to be included, but had another one this morning and I am down 2 pounds. Every little bit helps, even if these are pounds I am losing "again" ;)

I promise I am going to try to stay caught-up. I learn so much from all of you and you inspire me so much, and not just with your diligence, determination and successes - I also learn a LOT and am inspired by how you all recover after a lapse. :grouphug:

Thursday QOTD - If I only had one day I'd go to Magic Kingdom. I just did a quick 2.5 day trip and we spent a day at the resort and a day at Magic Kingdom.

We are away this weekend again for a 1/2 marathon & 5k in Danbury, CT.

where is the race in danbury? i wish i had known about it! my parents live in ridgefield (the next town over). i wonder when it is and if it's too late to run. i could def do the 5k!

my first job was at the store of knowledge at the danbury mall :) i was a greeter and spent a whole summer juggling balls at the front of the store. so embarrassing when your friends would come by to laugh at your juggling!

Good morning! Today is my hiking day. I am looking forward to my first exercise in loooong time. I even ordered the hula hoop I have been wanting for a while so I can start work on my mid region.

Woohoo I just got a phone call from a company inviting me to a product demonstration that I have been interested in. Its going to be tomorrow and will be at DISNEYLAND!!! Ok at the Grand Californian. How can I not go:rotfl:

QOTD: I choose park hopper with Magic Kingdom and Epcot!! I would probably go to MK first thing in the morning, spend half the day there. Then Epcot, but then back to MK because for some reason I have to finish all my trips with MK.

Dona- the PhD thing is definitely difficult, but if its something you want, its worth it. Maybe you will revisit the idea sometime:goodvibes

RutgersAlum- glad you recommitted yourself again. It is so easy to just stop and forget. You even did great at not gaining!

Nancy (dumbo)- My PhD is technically in Psychology. But what I really am studying is program evaluation. What it is is looking at any social program (education, health, etc.) and finding evidence to see if that program is creating a difference. Have you looked at purchasing swimdresses? Theyre super cute.

Kelli- How did the HG recipe come out?

Lori- Tangled is great. Hope you enjoy it

Shawn- Hi! Its nice to see that you are still traveling a lot. Sorry youre feeling stressed with the company decisions right now.

Rose- glad you survived the dentist. I get a little anxious there too after growing up with a horrible one.

Deb- Congrats!! Im glad things worked out for you and so soon too!

Lindsay- All your favorite shows were mine too. Youre right, they don’t make shows like they used to:thumbsup2

Jude- I totally have the same challenges as you, once I get home I lose all control. Great idea with the post-its!

Dave- congrats on finishing p90x. How does it feel? BTW, you look great!

CC- I have times where Im really hungry even after I eat. TOM could be causing it??

Tracey- I hope you feel better soon

And you know what I am going to say don't you...they slid on like they were made for this moment.

That is awesome Dave! WAY TO GO! :rockband: Makes all that hard work feel worth it, doesn't it? Keep up the good work!

*********************

Not much going on over here today. I'll be doing my rolling hills walk this afternoon, had subway for lunch, and I'm working on water. I don't have a clue what is for dinner...

We'll probably end up having another movie night tonight watching Tangled again because DS really wanted to do it again last night. Unfortunately, we were so busy we just didn't have the time, but tonight I guess we'll watch it again. I think he likes the fact that we turn the lights out and cuddle on the couch more than the actual watching of the movie :) That was the first time we've made the point to have a movie night with lights out, etc....Okay by me though, they don't stay this age forever!

Have a great day!

Nicole :flower3:

The instructions say you can pick up packets or register on April 1 and 2 from 10-6 at Woodbridge Running Company-Brookfield (800 Federal Rd. Brookfield, CT).

Here is what it says about the race start for the 5k:
At 10:10 a.m., each 5K participant will proceed to the 5K start line - on Lions Way (tennis courts) 200 yards Southeast of the War Memorial (race starts at 10:30 a.m.).

You definitely have to post here and tell me if you are going to do it so that I can look for you! :goodvibes

And I used to work around chlorine bleach all the time and every one of my jeans that "fit" had bleach holes in them. There in the corner of the closet was a pair of jeans that looked brand new. I picked them up and checked the size and there was no way I was going to fit into them.

You see, when I started this program the pants size I squeezed into was 44" (should have been at least 46" though, you know what I mean.)

But I thought "Why not? I know they won't fit but at least I can see the change and maybe I would be close." And you know what I am going to say don't you...they slid on like they were made for this moment. And as always I checked the pockets and found an old ticket stub from the last time I wore them. Big Congrats to you!!

Well I had some big dental work done this week! An old root canal revision that had some infection in the base. Some of the infected material was pushed out throught the bottom into my jaw (I think that's what he was saying) and my body can fight it there but not in my tooth. I'm on an antibiotic and have not been able to do any workouts due to the jaw pain. When the blood gets pumping the throbbing starts. Hopefully tonight I can get back at it.

I've had an ok week but not great. Made some good choices at work by saying no to some things but the evening just kill me! The snacking monster and my sweet tooth kick into overdrive! and I'm getting tired of carrots and hummus etc!

I know I will not be in the top 10 list with tomorrow's weigh-in! :rolleyes1

My kid had those frosted animal crackers left over from taking snack to school so - I ate them :headache: DOH!

69 days until my Disney trip!! :cheer2:

I had my very own pair of Romper Stompers! :cool1:
You lucky dog!!!! My favorite show was The Brady Bunch - always wanted to be Marcia's little sister!

QOTD: Would definitely get the park pass! Isn't a day at Disney better than a good day anywhere else?

I think I'm going to have a loss this week (after several weeks with no movement on the scale!):woohoo: Lovin' my new Leslie Sansone DVD. It's 5 Day Slim Down - the workouts for each day are only about 20 mins. (if you warm up and cool down) - perfect for me for now. If I try to take on too much, I get discouraged when I "mess up" and throw in the towel. But a mile a day makes me feel like I've accomplished something without a big time commitment! Have a great day everyone! Congrats to Dave on the NSV!!!

QOTD We are a disneyland/DCA family so I would just spend the day at california adventures. They have the better roller coaster on that side.

Hi all,

Thanks for the healthy wishes. I feel a lot better just really tired! I spent the entire morning in bed. Made my self a LC at 12:30. I munched on a bunch of not so healthy things too including some chips and ice cream. That's the PMS talking.

Watching some figure skating with the girls and then we're going to watch some Curling. We have a bunch of things on the tivo to watch since I slept all evening last night.

Having some chicken cutlet paninis for supper with fried onions. I need to make the coating shortly!

Still not sure what will happen weather wise tomorrow. We'll just have to wait and see.

Time to start supper!

Dave--that is fabulous!:goodvibes

Tonight is my final weigh-in at Weight Watchers before our vacation to WDW. If I can drop 1.4 pounds then I have reached 45 pounds since I started, which means I get to change the 40 to a 45 on my signature page. If I drop 3 pounds then I am at 250 pounds even and that was my vacation goal when I started Weight Watchers 16 weeks ago. I think I will be in between the two targets and that is just fine with me.

Now I must go and get in my "last chance" workout to guarantee I have done all I could to have a good weigh-in.

See you all in a few hours.

Dave

Hi Tracey,
We have already purchased our tickets for the Mariners/Red Sox game this summer. We are looking forward to watching the game.

My son is a huge Sox fan and when he was in Coast Guard boot camp they had no outside news but they could accept mail from home so I made a newsletter and the sports page had all the details of the Red Sox championship run for him to share.

Heres to the start of the baseball season.:thumbsup2

Go Sox!!!! Hope to get to a game sometime during the season! I'm currently putting together a Red Sox basket for Ashleigh's school basket raffle. Hoping people start sending stuff in. One parent sent in money so I will pick up something for the basket.

Looking forward to watching the home opener next Friday!

Izzie was born the day they won the series in 2004! She's known as the Red Sox baby! One of her first photos was with a little Red Sox hat on! Her pediatrician is a huge Sox fan and he came in the morning after they won with a hat on and looked exhausted! I remember hearing the nurses down the hall cheering when they won that night!

:sad2: the two friends who said they would go hiking with me both canceled. Its not bad to just have one cancel, but both. I was so looking forward to it. Its hard for me to get the motivation to start unless I have someone there with me. Once I start and am in a routine for exercising, I self motivate. I guess I'll ask some other people if they want to start hiking with me.

the good news is, my boss wants me to go to the product demonstration so I will be driving down to Disneyland tomorrow :yay: Now to just figure out a way to squeeze some Disney time into that.

I used to watch the Monkies any time I didn't have school or stayed home! I loved Davy Jones!
Thanks! I wish I could have been here more this week, my schedule is just a little worse than normal.

QOTD 3/31/11 Thursday
If you could only stay at Disney for one night and full day, what would you do? Would you spend the money on a one day pass or would you just hang out outside the parks?

I ask this question because my DH & I are arguing over this right now for our next trip. I vote ticket and Magic Kingdom!
(I hope this ? Is better than the one my DH suggested- scale of 1-10, how much do you wish your husband had red hair?) :rotfl2:

I would get a one day ticket and head to MK. Before leaving that day I would upgrade to an annual pass :rolleyes1

I'm back.... but my laptop cord broke last night and I haven't gotten a replacement. So I'm typing fast!!

Again, I'm sorry I didn't have the time to go back and re-reply to the stuff that got lost today. I can't do it all from memory... memory is too old now!

Hi everyone!

I think one of my favorites was the Bozo Show. I watched it every day before school. My siblings and I used to practice for the grand prize game in case we ever got to go to the show :rotfl:

Hey.... I was actually ON the Bozo show when I was about 6!! We went to Worcester for the taping.... we got to go cause a friend's Dad worked for TableTalk pies and they were a sponsor. I even got selected to be on one of those "in-show" commercials! I think it was for Buster Brown shoes! But honestly.... I've always hated clowns... so I'm not sure why I even wanted to attend!!:lmao:

Okay, I have been totally overwhelmed by the speed of this thread, but have loved reading it from the time it became the master thread. Catching up has taken me every single minute of my "fun computer time" from mid-day yesterday until just now. I think I was about 14 pages behind.

How the scale can be so uncooperative, I have no idea. LOL!

I'm so glad to see you! I haven't seen any posts from you and I was actually thinking of sending you a PM to see if everything was okay. Sounds like life is super-duper busy for you now.... but I'm pleased to see you've made progress on the scale. DUMP the baggie clothes and GO SHOPPING! At least buy a few new bras!!!

DH is doing really well..... other than a few changes with his physical appearance and his right arm (continues therapy still), he has no other lasting effects from the accident (other than weight loss... and he has continued to lose at a healthy pace... I'm proud of him for that!). Thanks for thinking of us!

Big Congrats to you!!

Glad you are enjoying the WATP videos! I started out doing them nearly every day for many months! I have many of them (including some old VHS workouts that I got at the Goodwill) and I mixed them up a lot. I actually put them away for a long time since I started running last year... but since I haven't been running much lately, I pulled them out again last week.

If you find you still enjoy them but they aren't challenging enough, try adding weights. I do them wearing 5 lb. ankle weights, 1 lb. wrist weights, and a 2 lb weight belt. It really adds to the challenge. Plus, when they use the weighted balls (which I do own), I usually use 3 lb. hand weights instead. And I really push myself to give every step my most.

OW:eek: Hate dental work, hope you feel better soon.

QOTD We are a disneyland/DCA family so I would just spend the day at california adventures. They have the better roller coaster on that side.

I think my kids would really agree with you! When we visited DL and DCA, I think we rode California Screamin' 7 times in one day!! It is a great coaster!!

Tonight is my final weigh-in at Weight Watchers before our vacation to WDW. I"m anxious to hear how it goes with the scale tonight!! I'm sure it will be great, no matter what! You've had such success and worked so hard at this!

***Good Evening friends! As I mentioned, I am working on borrowed time here with my laptop and DD is using the family desktop for her homework.

We are preparing for a snowday here tomorrow.... nothing confirmed from the school system, but we are definitely in the mindset of "no school tomorrow". It will be quite a shock to our systems if we, in fact, have school!!

One comment I made earlier that got deleted I wanted to repeat, cause I'd like some feedback. I'm thinking of trying two weeks of South Beach Diet, Phase 1 to see if I can shake off this final 3-5 pounds that I've been struggling with for a year now. I LOVE WW and will continue to count my points... but I feel like a change in WHAT I eat might help.

I feel like I eat really healthy and most of my carbs are the "right" carbs.... but I'm sure that I could definitely benefit from reducing my carb intake.

I tried Atkins for about 10 days many years ago when DH was doing it and I found it pretty nearly intolerable after those 10 days. But I also felt, all along, that Atkins was NOT healthy... and I still feel that way. It seems like SB is a much healthier way to go if you are trying to reduce carbs.

It would definitely be a BIG change in my eating.... I eat a Sandwich Thin, whole wheat english muffin, or oat bran/flaxseed pita pocket EVERY DAY.... sometimes more than once. Plus, of course, I eat about two servings of fruit every day.... and other high GI vegetables... sweet potato, parsnips, onions, carrots. But for two weeks, I think I could definitely make the change.

Anyone want to comment on this idea??? I know LTS would love to talk about South Beach, but of course, she is gone for the next two weeks..... figures!

Battery is running low! I hope everyone has a GREAT weigh-in tomorrow! I probably won't be on again until the morning, unless I borrow DD's laptop. TTYL......................P
