Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge--for Losers and Maintainers

Hello all! :goodvibes

Just back from vacation and haven't had a chance to do any reading or catching up yet. Will come back tomorrow and do that. :thumbsup2

I will be coaching starting tomorrow but since I am on PST I will try and post the QOTD the night before so you aren't waiting for it . . . :rolleyes1

QOTD Friday April 1st: Great news! The Biggest Loser folks have heard about our wonderful challenge and want to use your best tips for a healthy lifestyle from us in their new book. :cool2: The bad news is that there is so much great information here that they can only take ONE tip from each of us. So please share your very best piece of advice for a healthy lifestyle. :flower3:

Thank you, pjlla, for the inspiration behind this question. We do recycle questions here. Oh and one other thing about the Biggest Loser book thing April Fools! :rotfl:

See you tomorrow for catching up for real! :yay:

Here we are, as a combined group, to celebrate our inch-whittling success!

We started the challenge with 46 WINners and 13 are reporting this week.

Collectively, since the beginning of this challenge, we have:

  • Lost a total of 217 1/4 inches
  • Lost an average of 6 1/5 inches
  • Lost an average of 3.6%
Our TOP FIVE WINners for this period are:
5) pjstevens. . . . . . . . . -1.96%
4) Dreamer24. . . . . . . . -1.99%
3) Aamomma . . . . . . . . -2.135%
2) buzz5985 . . . . . . . . . -2.143%

And (drumroll) our Number One WINner is:
1) lovetoscrap . . . . . . . -2.56%

:cool1: Congratulations to LTS, Janis, Aamomma, Dani, Patricia and ALL of our WINners! :cool1:

Our next "measure-in" will be April 22 so let's keep on WINning! :thumbsup2

If anyone still wants to report their measurements for this period, please do. I'm happy to help you track your progress whether or not you are able to get your numbers in before the results are posted.

Scale was good to me tonight, or was I good for the scale? Either way I was at 249.2 pounds, down 3.8 pounds from last week. Now I have extra room for that special Mickey cookie next week in WDW.

Dave

CONGRATS!!!! You deserve that Mickey cookie!!!!!:yay::banana::cool1:

Great Fools joke! You had me going!!!!

Dave

Thanks! You can still answer the QOTD before you head out to WDW if you have time. :goodvibes Hope the weather is nice for you in FL because I just spent a week in Gig Harbor and Vancouver and it was very wet -- what did I expect for Spring Break in the Pacific NW? :confused3 The rain is following me home to Coeur d'Alene. Have a safe and wonderful trip and congratulations on your success! :thumbsup2

Good Friday morning Teams. We made it to Friday.

I was having a strange dream and slept through the alarm. Dh woke me a couple minutes past the alarm. He told he thought I was just listening to the Barry Manilow song that came on with the alarm.

Dh is going to a conference tonight and will be gone until tomorrow evening. I am going to the local quilt store after school and then I have all day tomorrow to do whatever I want. Ds1 has classes tomorrow so I will be home with the animals and that is all. I do have to deal with the taxes but that is the only thing I have to really do this weekend.

Dave Congrats on all your achievements this week. Have a great trip.

lisah0711 did you have a great spring break? We still have 2 weeks to go. I can't wait.

Congrats LTS on winning the WIN this week.

pjlla I have tried giving up carbs completely and I get very constipated. Good luck with that. It may be the thing you need to get past those last few pounds.

Cupcaker PhD is not going to happen for me. I am not close to any school that offers one. I would spend a great deal of time communting to get it. I also don't have the money to do it since we are putting ds2 through school. The biggest reason for not getting is that I am probably within 4 years of retirement. Dh and I have been discussing this a lot over the last year. Living in jersey we really don't know what the govenor is going to do with our pensions so we could go any time. We would like to stay another 4 full years so we can have a few years without paying college tuition for ds's.

QOTD I would have to get a park pass. I could not be that near without going in. I don't get there that often.

Off to get to work.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Thank you for coaching last week tggrrstarr! And thank you Lisa for coaching this week.:goodvibes

Jeanette--I'm sorry your friends cancelled, but I hope you have a fabulous time at your conference and DL.:goodvibes

Congrats to all our WINners! Interestingly enough, some of my measurements are starting to go back up, specifically my arms. Not much fat left, and I am building muscle, so that's kind of cool.:goodvibes

Scale was good to me tonight, or was I good for the scale? Either way I was at 249.2 pounds, down 3.8 pounds from last week. Now I have extra room for that special Mickey cookie next week in WDW.

Dave
Congrats Dave! Have a fabulous trip! Just remember when you get back to jump right back on the wagon!:goodvibes

I hope everyone has a good weigh in today. Please remember to continue to include your TEAM NAME with your ACTUAL WEIGHT when you pm Tracey.:goodvibes

I used to go to Bally's too. It was when I worked nights, and a few of us would go in the morning after work, but we were zombies some times, but it was fun to go as a group.
We went to the salem theater, and ate at the thai place in the mall there. I hear Sawasdee is supposed to be good.

Oh, I've heard good things about that restaurant. Every Saturday during tax season our boss buys lunch for the office so next week is Sawasdee. It's really good.

BTW, WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON OUTSIDE??????

On top of my pain, my best friend/roommate lost his brother Michael last Tuesday. Michael struggled with adictions and mental illness and took his own life. The worst part is that I had to tell him. The police showed up at the house and BF wasn't home. They wanted to come back after they knew he was home or I could tell him. It would be really stupid to have him home and tell him that we need to wait for the police to show up! So, I had to tell him. It's been tough on him and on me as we made all the arrangements and sent in the obit this morning. Wake is Friday and Funeral Saturday. Please say some prayers for all who struggle with additions and contimplate suicide. You never know what a kind word or helping hand can do to help someone feel they are not alone.

Oh, that's just devastating. Everyone is in my prayers

Sue- DL is about a half hour drive. I have never been to Napa Rose, but have always wanted to go. What did you eat/recommend??

Oh boy... you are going to laugh but the brussel sprouts were amazing. I know most people aren't a fan, but I've actually only had them once and that's where it was. They basically cook them with heavy cream, applewood smoked bacon and I'm sure a bunch of spices, but they were so good I asked the waiter to find out how they made them.

The other good item since I'm such a sweets person was the Meyer lemon creme brulee. It came prepared in a pastry crust with a blueberry sauce on top, so you could eat the dish it was in.

I finally have Great news to report. I am going to accept the job offer. HR called today and offered $1/hr more and emailed me the insurance details. It is SO much better than what we can get through DH's work. Some aspects are even better than at my last job. It is an HMO, but all of our current providers are in network and there is no deductible or out of pocket :cool1: It will cost $100/week which is more than we were paying at my old job, but no deductible should make up for it quickly. They also give bonuses based on the companies profitability (an oil company :rolleyes1) That has proven to be $5000-$6000 for last year's employees. I cannot see a down side. I am so happy, relieved, excited... I will start next Thursday. Insurance won't kick in until May 1st so I will postpone Hunter's MRI until after the new insurance kicks in.

Congrats :thumbsup2 I hope you love your new job.

Well I had some big dental work done this week! An old root canal revision that had some infection in the base. Some of the infected material was pushed out throught the bottom into my jaw (I think that's what he was saying) and my body can fight it there but not in my tooth. I'm on an antibiotic and have not been able to do any workouts due to the jaw pain. When the blood gets pumping the throbbing starts. Hopefully tonight I can get back at it.

Yuck! I hate dental work. Hope you feel much better soon. Tooth pain can be the worst.

Glad that you're feeling better :goodvibes

Tonight is my final weigh-in at Weight Watchers before our vacation to WDW. If I can drop 1.4 pounds then I have reached 45 pounds since I started, which means I get to change the 40 to a 45 on my signature page. If I drop 3 pounds then I am at 250 pounds even and that was my vacation goal when I started Weight Watchers 16 weeks ago. I think I will be in between the two targets and that is just fine with me.

Have a wonderful trip :mickeyjum

:sad2: the two friends who said they would go hiking with me both canceled. Its not bad to just have one cancel, but both. I was so looking forward to it. Its hard for me to get the motivation to start unless I have someone there with me. Once I start and am in a routine for exercising, I self motivate. I guess I'll ask some other people if they want to start hiking with me.

the good news is, my boss wants me to go to the product demonstration so I will be driving down to Disneyland tomorrow :yay: Now to just figure out a way to squeeze some Disney time into that.

sorry your friends canceled. before i started training for the half marathon i was like you and felt like i needed someone around to motivate me. but one day i just couldn't wait anymore and went out for a run/walk. nobody can do the exercise for you so i say go for that hike and leave the other two in the dust (easier said than done though, i know).

have fun at disneyland!

We are preparing for a snowday here tomorrow.... nothing confirmed from the school system, but we are definitely in the mindset of "no school tomorrow". It will be quite a shock to our systems if we, in fact, have school!!

One comment I made earlier that got deleted I wanted to repeat, cause I'd like some feedback. I'm thinking of trying two weeks of South Beach Diet, Phase 1 to see if I can shake off this final 3-5 pounds that I've been struggling with for a year now. I LOVE WW and will continue to count my points... but I feel like a change in WHAT I eat might help.

just saw on the news that new hampshire got a bunch of snow. we only have freezing rain here. blah, which is worse??

i think phase 1 of south beach might be a good way to give a little jolt to your system. it's not as hard or, in my opinion, gross as atkins and from the way you describe your eating it sounds like you are pretty much following phase 2/3 of the diet anyway!

give it a try - i'm interested to hear how it works for you. good luck!

I just spent a week in Gig Harbor and Vancouver and it was very wet -- what did I expect for Spring Break in the Pacific NW? :confused3 The rain is following me home to Coeur d'Alene.

hi lisa i hope you had a lovely trip even with the rain! would love to hear about it :)

I hope everyone has a good weigh in today. Please remember to continue to include your TEAM NAME with your ACTUAL WEIGHT when you pm Tracey.:goodvibes

Thanks Rose! have a great day :)

************

well, they found the cobra! all is well. oh, except for the weather. ugh. freezing rain. what is this nonsense??

trying to figure out what we're going to eat today. no meat today so it may be a pizza night. we haven't eaten out all week including last weekend which is very good for us so maybe we deserve it. or...maybe i'll just pick up some dough from the pizzeria and make my own?? hm....at least i could add lots of veggies to it if i made my own. we'll see.

what's everyone's weekend plans? we have a birthday party tomorrow for a 3 year old and the parents are getting a PONY! i hope it's nice weather! a pony. how funny. nothing like a pony hanging out in the bronx! lol!

BTW, WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON OUTSIDE??????
I am so done with snow. But it could be worse, we could live in nh with Pjlla!

Sorry pamela. I just saw the manchester little league park on the news, and thought, I'm so glad I'm not there.

nothing like a pony hanging out in the bronx! lol!
Better than a cobra.:rotfl2:

Never give up, no matter how many times you fall off the wagon, just get back up and try again. If you're trying, you are doing better than giving up.

Welcome back Lisa!! We missed you. Thank you for coaching this week!!:flower3:

Congratulations everyone!! That's some pretty impressive numbers. thank you connie for hosting the WIN challenge.

Scale was good to me tonight, or was I good for the scale? Either way I was at 249.2 pounds, down 3.8 pounds from last week. Now I have extra room for that special Mickey cookie next week in WDW.

Dave
congratulations! Have a fabulous trip.

where is the race in danbury? i wish i had known about it! my parents live in ridgefield (the next town over). i wonder when it is and if it's too late to run. i could def do the 5k!

my first job was at the store of knowledge at the danbury mall :) i was a greeter and spent a whole summer juggling balls at the front of the store. so embarrassing when your friends would come by to laugh at your juggling!
My aunt lives in Bethel, and my cousin went to school with Meg Ryan there. I think I'm remembering correctly that's pretty close to danbury.

I have to keep reminding myself that even if I am not seeing the results on the scale, I should still be happy about what I am seeing - my current jeans are all now too baggie in the back end to wear (they look ridiculous). My sport bras are all a bit loser and my normal bras are on the tightest hook and too loose. I can now get back into the smallest jeans I have ever worn as an adult (a bit of a muffin top but hardly) and all of my pants that haven’t fit since January 2009 fit again. How the scale can be so uncooperative, I have no idea. LOL!

As for me, life is completely crazy busy. Weekends are mostly spent away or with a house full of guests for various reasons/events. We are away this weekend again for a 1/2 marathon & 5k in Danbury, CT.
Hi Cam! So happy you're seeing such positive changes in your body. I met a friend of your's at the princess Dismeet, and she was so nice to talk to and so reassuring. I was so nervous before the race, and it was so nice to talke to her. Of course I don't remember he name, but I think her dis name was wtpplc, or something like that. :rotfl: Good luck at your races this weekend.:thumbsup2

QOTD 3/31/11 Thursday
If you could only stay at Disney for one night and full day, what would you do? Would you spend the money on a one day pass or would you just hang out outside the parks?
I would do a one day, one park pass and probably do MK. Epcot would be a close second choice. Guess it would depend if I was in the mood for a few drinks. Hmmmm, as I'm thinking about it, Epcot may be first on my list. DS would probably make me do MK though.

Thanks tggrrstarr for coaching this past week. Fun question!

Good morning everyone. Hope you all see some good numbers on the scale. I did not. But I know why. And yet again, today is a new day, a new week, and new month.

Have a great day.:)

Thanks, Kathy! It is so wonderful to see so many old friends here. I have really missed my WISH friends! Yes, you met my dear, sweet friend, Carrie, whose screen name is wtpclc. Isn't she a darling? She has been instrumental in my improved confidence levels from my first Disney race to my last. I am so glad she was helpful to you. :goodvibes

Dave - Congratulations!!! What an awesome weigh-in you had! Enjoy your vacation. I am sure the walking will help counterbalance some calories. Drink lots of water!! It will be great to hear about your trip.

I started this a while ago but work keeps pulling me away. I will check back later. Have a great day, everyone!

Dave

Nice job.... way to go.... congratulations... all that stuff!! I can only imagine how excited you were when that number came up! P90X is INSANE and you obviously made it work for you, along with the WW! You are a true success story! Tell Mickey I said HI! Enjoy your Mickey cookie!

Morning all,

2 hour delay here this morning, though I'm confused as we usually have a 90 minute delay when we have a delay. Looks like our interim superintendent is screwing up again! I heard the text come through on my phone. The roads look bare so I'm surprised we have a delay. May have some ice on the road too.

I think I'll head down to do the 3 mile WATP now since I don't have to rush.

Feel a million times better than yesterday so I must've just needed a day of rest. Someone said it may have been allergies acting up though there are definitely no allergens out there today.

This is very close to how it was 14 years ago today when we had over 2 feet of snow on April Fool's Day! That was the day after Brian and I got engaged which happened to be Easter Sunday as well.

Well, time to change and get in a workout to start my day off right!

TTFN :tigger:

Congratulations on your engagement-iversary! I honestly don't remember that particular snowy Easter, but I'm not surprised. Easter is a real crapshoot around here.... depending on when it falls and such.... it can either be beautiful and 75 degrees... or a day like today!!

Yup... lots of snow here and still falling fast.

I think I'll take another quick peek at the SB book today and be sure that I have everything I need on hand and start tomorrow. I'll try hard to report here about how it goes.

No meat for Lent? Can you eat fish? We had a delicious flouder last night and it was CHEAP! $3.99/lb for FAS flounder.... it was really thin and cooked in about 12 minutes! It was so good.... if it wasn't snowing so hard I'd be head back to the store to get more today! It would make great fish tacos!

I am so done with snow. But it could be worse, we could live in nh with Pjlla!

Sorry pamela. I just saw the manchester little league park on the news, and thought, I'm so glad I'm not there.

Good morning everyone. Hope you all see some good numbers on the scale. I did not. But I know why. And yet again, today is a new day, a new week, and new month.

Have a great day.:)

Thanks for the sympathy! Yup... it is a snow day and we have AT LEAST 6-8 inches on the ground already (nearly 10 am) and it is still falling fast. If I have time, I'll post a picture later today.

Sorry about the scale.... it wasn't kind to me today either... but I felt it coming yesterday..... stupid ovulation bloat... but I'm gonna be good today and take another look tomorrow. I actually had pain/cramps/bloating at 3 am today that kept me awake for a while, so I KNEW the scale number wouldn't be pretty. But you're right.... new day, new week, new month!! Keep on keeping on!!

********Well... happy SNOWY Friday friends!! Yup.... about 6-8 inches already down and still falling... but I must say, it is bright out and I am holding out hope that the sun will come through later (even though it isn't predicted to end until tonight).

Got a beautiful picture of a male and female cardinal at my feeder with snow falling around them this morning.... guess this will be a good start for my Picture of the day for April.

DD and I have cooked up a few April Fool's pranks to play on DH. He's great at April Fool's Day pranks... hope we can get him back today!

Well.... I guess I need to decide how productive I want to be today. Part of me wants to have a relaxing day, since it is kind of an unexpected "bonus" day off. But part of me thinks I should get to work and get a lot done today! Tomorrow has a few things planned, so I won't get a lot done here. Eye doctor appointment in the morning for me, a few errands while I'm in the "big city" of Concord..., and then home to get ready for DD's swim banquet tomorrow night.

Well... first off will be a workout on the TM when the bedroom is free.... then I MUST fold two loads of laundry... guess then I'll decide whether I want to clean bathrooms or vacuume or scrapbook. Anyone want to guess what I might choose???;)

It figures.... I have time to chat now and nothing more to say! I'll be back later to talk more................P

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Please be sure and PM those weigh in numbers to tigger813 WITH YOUR TEAM NAME and your HH numbers to cclovesdis today! You can also send any late reports for your WIN! numbers if you haven't already to Connie96.

I'm going to go back a couple of pages here and do some replies and try to catch up.

lisah0711 (15/21 pts)

lisah0711 is week's prize winner!

Cool! :cool2: Thanks for being HH coach, CC! :flower3:

Thanks guys.

I had an aha moment today. After I had decided to accept the job and it finally sunk in, the stress and tension lifted. I was ready to committ to getting healthy again. I wanted to go out and take a walk though I didn't have time. We are away this weekend which will make it very hard for me to completely committ, but I will start now and next Monday it's ON!!!

Congratulations on the new job, Deb! :yay: I'm glad that you are feeling better.

Morning losers,

:sick:Feeling absolutely horrible this morning!

Hope that you are feeling better, Tracey! :flower3:

i have my first doc's appt on monday and i'm really freaking out. DH works in jersey now (he was in manhattan while pg with thomas) but he's going to leave work early and meet me downtown so we can both attend the appt. i'm really happy about that.

have a great day everyone. what's on the menu today? i need breakfast and lunch ideas!

Nancy, sorry that you are feeling bad. Glad that your DH can go to the doctor with you Monday.

No time for reading or replies right now, but I wanted to say HI! I've been super busy the last few days and haven't had a minute to check in here. I'm working today and might have time when the kids go to art, so hopefully I'll be back here before lunch today!.............O

Hi pjlla! :wave2: Hope that you don't mind that I used one of your old QOTD for today! :flower3: Sorry about the snow.

I used to watch the Monkies any time I didn't have school or stayed home! I loved Davy Jones!

Hi Kelli! :wave2: Thanks for coaching this week! :flower3: I was a big Monkees and Davy Jones fan, too! ::yes::

I have to keep reminding myself that even if I am not seeing the results on the scale, I should still be happy about what I am seeing - my current jeans are all now too baggie in the back end to wear (they look ridiculous). Hi Cam! :wave2: Sorry the scale isn't budging but it sounds like lots of other good things are going on! :goodvibes

Good morning! Today is my hiking day. I am looking forward to my first exercise in loooong time. I even ordered the hula hoop I have been wanting for a while so I can start work on my mid region.

So for a second here, Jeanette, I thought that you needed the hula hoop for hiking -- those crazy California trends! ;) Enjoy your day at DL even if it is for work! :flower3:

We'll probably end up having another movie night tonight watching Tangled again because DS really wanted to do it again last night. Unfortunately, we were so busy we just didn't have the time, but tonight I guess we'll watch it again. I think he likes the fact that we turn the lights out and cuddle on the couch more than the actual watching of the movie :) That was the first time we've made the point to have a movie night with lights out, etc....Okay by me though, they don't stay this age forever!

Have a great day!

Nicole :flower3:

Hi Nicole! :wave2: Glad that you had a good time with DS -- you are so right that time goes so quickly.

Sorry about the tooth! Hope that you are feeling better soon! :flower3:

I think I'm going to have a loss this week (after several weeks with no movement on the scale!):woohoo: Lovin' my new Leslie Sansone DVD. It's 5 Day Slim Down - the workouts for each day are only about 20 mins. (if you warm up and cool down) - perfect for me for now. If I try to take on too much, I get discouraged when I "mess up" and throw in the towel. But a mile a day makes me feel like I've accomplished something without a big time commitment! Have a great day everyone! Congrats to Dave on the NSV!!!

Yay for breaking through the plateau! :yay:

Hi pjlla! :wave2: Hope that you don't mind that I used one of your old QOTD for today! :flower3: Sorry about the snow.

Are you kidding? I feel like a celebrity!!!

Thanks for the snow-sympathy. I absolutely HATE IT! And the way it looks, I will need to shovel, cause it is too wet and heavy to snowblow. GRRRRR!

Okay friends.... I'm gonna check the Budget board and put away this computer! I got stuff to do!..........P

No clients but I'm hanging at work until 2. Hoping to get my nails done as they are way overdue!

Going to go home and put on my jammies and relax with the family the rest of the day when I go home. Maybe watch Tangled again as I missed half of it! I also need to watch Private Practice.

Ash will have leftover chicken tonight and Brian and I will have Gorton's fish and fries for supper. Izzie will have the usual of chicken nuggets.

Need to put in my weekend schedule for the next few months with soccer starting next week!

TTFN :tigger:

This is definitely torture sitting in the grand Californian conference room while I see everyone else head to the parks. I think I will skip lunch and roam the parks.

Oh and one of my friends ended up calling me back yesterday so we ended up hiking after all. This weather is killing me. We are in the 90's one day then its cold and rainy the next.

Afternoon Teams!

Yesterday was an emotional day for me. I'm graduating from college on April 30th (which is also Alan's birthday). My late husband Josh, would of celebrated his 28th birthday on April 26th. We're leaving for AZ the day after his birthday.

I did a lot of crying last night. I have gotten used to neither of them being here for holidays, birthday, and anniversaries. However, this was a day Josh was looking forward to. He was excited to watch me walk across that stage. People have said the last few days "Oh he'll be there in spirit". **insert eye roll here**. I know they mean well when they say that but its not the same. Then to add to my craptastic mood I woke up with a headache from hell.
