Looking for opinions.

What is the biggest item/box you would ship ahead of time to a resort concierge?

We are going in October to AKL Concierge and I recently purchased a jumbo Mickey and Minnie for my DS and DD. They are pretty big and I'm willing to foot the shipping bill.

Is this too much to ask of AKL Concierge to have these in our room when we check-in?

I would send them so they would arrive shortly before our check-in date as not to cause a problem for the concierge staff.

What do you think?

I was able to get such a great deal on them-over 1/2 off at the Disney Store. The newer ones that they are stocking are made of a different material that looks cheap and I was lucky enough to find the last 2 older ones and I really don't want to take them back. I know they probably cost 3 times what I paid for them in the parks. Anyway, I just want my kids to get them at WDW but I won't think twice about shipping them down before if it would be any burden on AKL Concierge.

My opinion, call AKL Concierge 2 weeks before you go and ask. That's the type of extra service you should tip for.

Yes, I was definately planning on a great tip.

I just want my kids to open the door and see Mickey and Minnie sitting at the table or on the beds.

I'll drop them an e-mail and see what they think but I still would like some opinions from all of you.

Just Curious? Are you driving down? Just imagining you having to buy airplane seats for Minnie and Mickey!!

I'm sure that your children will love having Minnie and Mickey waiting in the room.

Have lots of fun, Cindy

Hi FF,

Definately ship them to the hotel, try UPS for good rates (What can brown do for you?)

Make sure you have the contact name of the concierge who is looking after this for you.

I am sending stuff down to the BC a week before as well, there is no way I am carrying more than I have to in my luggage.

What time are you checking in? If it is early or if you have specific room requests it may be difficult for them to have the room ready and set up with Mickey and Minnie for you when you arrive.

Have fun planning.

I think AKL concierge would be happy to do it for you. I do suggest you call ahead and talk with them and get a specific name of someone to help you, as someone else suggested. You might even be able to find out best time to check in so all is arranged. Also, you will need to put your date of arrival on the outside of the package with your name, etc. What a nice mom!(or dad!)

They (Andrea) at AKL Concierge did say they would be happy to have them shipped for placement in our suite before arrival.

I returned them though. I just decided it was too much hassle and did not want to worry about shipping them back home, etc.

They were bigger than my children:D

Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something else to buy.

I must say, buying the stuffed toys before you go to WDW is a great idea. I paid just over $40 for the Mickey and Minnie and they cost $300 at WDW-from what I was told.

I also wanted to ship some stuff too but is there a fee at the resort. I am staying at ASMO. Its not going to be a big box just some snacks for the room

I believe some of the resorts have started charging for holding deliveries. Just something to think about if you plan on shipping things to your resort.
