Or it could just mean they want to get more "likes" on their facebook page. Sometimes "get your friends" orders are just pleas for more publicity.

I thought the same thing originally too. I counted the number of letters in each word. I sure hope that's not the case though, a race in August would be brutal! 8/5 does happen to be my wedding anniversary though, so I know DH would love to spend another anniversary at Disney, and would love even more to spend our anniversary watching me run... Please note I'm being completely sarcastic because DH isn't fond of either of these obsessions I have

luckily i have brought DH over to the dark side and he loves disney now BUT i think i will manage to get ONE race out of him as a spectator for me. and now that 2012 marathon is out of the picture, i'm even more interested in seeing what this new one is all about b/c maybe it'll be my first race back!

faith - your thoughts seem pretty convincing but i SO hope you are wrong! lo!!

so true. i'm a disney travel agent and i have a FB page and i'm always like, "hey, do you like my page? tell your friends! like ME!" ha.

i am probably in the minority but i really hope that this isn't a team based thing. for me, this whole running thing has been something that i've been doing on my own. it didn't start out like that - i was supposed to do the princess half as part of a team with a friend of mine from high school! well, yadda yadda yadda she had a mental breakdown, left her husband, lost her job, stopped talking to everyone including me and i lost a bunch of dough (entry fee, flights that i put on my cc). we were supposed to train together on the weekends (she's an experienced/fast marathoner) and that never happened. i wound up doing it all on my own. and, i kinda liked that. now i can't picture running with someone. not only that but i feel like i'm such a beginner (princess was my first half) that i would be afraid of letting a teammate down by having a bad race.

that, and what if i couldn't find a teammate. i just don't think i could take that kind of rejection!

I'm totally with you. When I do run with people, it's for mutual support with the understanding that when one of us needs to go ahead or fall back, it's ok. We're there supporting each other. For me, if I'm going to do a race, I want to do the race myself. Scavenger-hunts and things are different. But I wouldn't want to do a Half as a relay (I can do a 10K or whatever pretty much any weekend) or a Full as a relay (I'd just find a Half to do if I didn't think I could handle a full). And though it would be challenging, I'd be willing to take on an Ultra on my own. I just...FOR ME...I would feel like I hadn't really done it if I didn't do it on my own.

I also get the letting people down feeling. And good lord I remember elementary and junior high FAR too much to even want to think about being picked last again. Way too many bad memories with team sports.

Yeah no idea what that gets me but throwing it out there in case someone else makes sense of it.

There are so many great guesses and I am with everyone in wishing that they would just tell us already!! I am all for guessing games if prizes are involved but since it doesn't appear that a free entry into the mystery race would be included it isn't fun.

Well, that depends on what they announce. As long as it isn't another woman's themed race or scavenger hunt I'll probably do it though.

I kind of enjoy the clues and speculation. It keeps up talking about it at least.

I have a feeling the first clue isn't really telling us much on it's own. A lot of times with these "10 clues" things the first half are extremely vague because they don't really want people getting it right too early.

I do think no matter what it is it will be in FL, will be at least a half, and will probably also have a relay element and 5K. The relay is a way to get a shorter race included for those that can't do a half without having to support a whole separate race.

"Save the Date! Join us next year, February 24-26, 2012, for Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend.
Registration opens July 5, 2011." (emphasis added)

Then at the bottom
"Registration is filling up quickly, so register now before the excitement of another race passes you by!"

Well, they changed the 2011 race dates after they were announced also.

Note sure they want to run a princess and ESPN on the same weekend. While not on the ESPN site yet, Disney Sports announced the 2012 ESPN Weekend dates for the weekend March 2-4, 2012.

Well , maybe they would if bubba joe sixpack were running the place - hey princess, git me a beer and put dat tv on espn.

I was thinking that as well...I love the suspense and trying to figure out clues, but really hoping the end result isn't disappointing. Trying to figure out the meaning of the clues is a good distraction though! I let my mind wander there yesterday while my legs were burning in the middle of a lunge/sprint suicide drill...on a hill...and then it was over before I knew it! OUCH!

Yeah, me too. I just don't think it can live up to 1) runDisney's hype and 2) my expectations. Which is not to say I can't be suckered into an inaugural race.

And I fully expect it to be another version of a team challenge/race, or at least to have that option. Less race, more Disney experience. I'm with everyone who would prefer to have a race option.
