Big runDisney announcement coming in April

Ah. I guess my friend and I are weird. For us, even running the same race we're not running against each other. We're each running our own race but together. I know I'm never going to be competitive, so for me every race is just against myself. Knowing I've got a buddy out there doing the same thing even if we're not together while doing it helps enormously. For me moreso than only doing half a race. I guess in my mind I'd feel just that...that I'd only run half a race (assuming it's a 2-person thing).

My friend and I almost always race each other. even if we run together almost the whole race, it's fun to see who crosses the finish line first. It also gives us an opportunity to fit a race into our schedule that might not work otherwise. I didn't want to do the whole half in DC because honestly, I didn't want to be sore for a long flight later in the week. He's not up to the half distance yet. so relay it is!

Can someone please explain what the obsession with relays is? If I'm going to run a race, I want to RUN THE RACE. I don't get it.

i feel the same way. i want to run the whole thing. but mostly that's just because i want the medal. i can see it working well with two people who are fairly competitive and want to really race it. or, like if you have a really annoying friend who wants to do a race with you but you don't want to actually run with them. :rotfl:

All I can come up with is the race will go through Fantasyland. Dumbo is in Fantasyland and they are building a tower themed to Tangled, right? Fantasia may refer to PhilharMagic.

All a guess which is probably wrong.

From what I've read Rapunzel (from Tangled) is going to be in the new Princess Fairytale Hall where Snow White's scary adventure is.
She is currently housed where Belle's Story time used to be.

I'm not on facebook so I didn't see the actual clue. But the : in Dumbo:Tangled must have some significance.

Actually, DL HAD a marathon in 95. It was a royal Cluster. The course had a funky turn that was cut out of the course on race day (for the early runners) making the course seriously short of 26.2.

I remember hearing about that race before. Do you by any chance have an old course map? I'm curious to see where it went?

The clues haven't given me anything yet, hopefully the next 1 or 2 will shed some light!! Kinda makes the whole race announcement more fun.

I can tell you guys that in DL, in Fantasyland there was a Tangled tower right across from Dumbo and the Cars Land in DCA is supposed to open next Spring assuming construction stays on schedule.

I am just not leaning toward 3/4 being a date. Right now, that's the week after the Princess and it just seems crazy to have to big events a week apart.

This is really weird and off the wall, but why not. Maybe a 3/4 marathon? have to finish it in 4:50? It would almost work with the Disney pacing rules. Plus West Coast aside, you could probably pull off a park-park-park-park run by eliminating the first lap through epcot and the osceola turn around and pull it off

See, I feel the opposite. I'm already sick of this game. Just tell us already.

I agree. Not to be a bad sport, but I'd rather not have the clue thing. It frustrates me more than excites me. :lmao:

No, I thought that I had snagged a map, but the graphic was no longer there.

One of my earlier thoughts was a metric marathon... That would be 2/3, not 3/4

Just a wild hunch -----

OK, this one builds on the actual clues...

assuming the movies relate to their place in the list of animated features...

3/4
4:50

Going with the date and time thoughts guess what happens to be within 3 minutes of 4:50 am on March 4, 2012?

Astronomical Twilight - Anaheim, Ca @ 4:53 am

I guess the exact clue should have been
Fantasia/Dumbo
Dumbo:Reboot Ralph?

Can someone please explain what the obsession with relays is? If I'm going to run a race, I want to RUN THE RACE. I don't get it.

I signed up for the relay at wine and dine last year because I was working towards being able to run a full 1/2 marathon, but wasn't all the way there yet. It was also a good excuse for me to fly to Florida to visit DH's sister. Since she likes to run shorter distances, and I was working on longer distances, we made a good team! I don't understand the marathon relay where the distance for the runners is a 1/2 marathon, especially since there is an actual 1/2 marathon the day before. The wine and dine relay is a good distance for those 10k and 5k runners who want to run a Disney race that is timed and has good course entertainment. I wasn't very impressed with the Royal Family 5k last month. I would rather run the 8k in a relay and pay more than run one of the Disney 5k's again...

There are so many great guesses and I am with everyone in wishing that they would just tell us already!! I am all for guessing games if prizes are involved but since it doesn't appear that a free entry into the mystery race would be included it isn't fun. ;) I have to believe that it involves Disneyland this time around...and yes, the park is very small as is California Adventure but running outside of the park is a much different experience...not so much of the running in the boondocks feel that you get with WDW. :) Although I am not going to say it is interesting 100% of the time. I think as long as I am running, I will do the Coast to Coast as it is a nice change to go to DL. :)

So, yay we know that we will be running through DL or the Magic Kingdom...come on Disney...better clues please!! :)

Did anyone else click ahead to see that there are a total of 10 clues to be revealed. I think I'll just tune in next month once its announced.

I would love for it to incorporate the opening of the new park area! I just hope they don't do the Ultra distance. It is not happening for me if that's the case. I would be really surprised if the date was March 4th because they could lose a lot of the Princess participants doing it that close. Ahhhh....who knows but I am not good at waiting!!

Cinderella was released on 3/4/1950 so does anything happen significantly in the movie at 4:50??? (4 min and 50 seconds) I don't own the movie so I cant check ***Just an idea, I could be WAY off

I was thinking 8/5 5:7, but I have no idea what the 5:7 could mean, but 8/5 is a Friday this year and Sunday next year. It is just the number of letters in the titles. But 5:7 could be a ratio? :confused3

EDIT: Maybe the 5:7 means the dates, 8/5 to 8/7 weekend, which falls from Friday to Sunday this year.

I thought the same thing originally too. I counted the number of letters in each word. I sure hope that's not the case though, a race in August would be brutal! 8/5 does happen to be my wedding anniversary though, so I know DH would love to spend another anniversary at Disney, and would love even more to spend our anniversary watching me run... Please note I'm being completely sarcastic because DH isn't fond of either of these obsessions I have:rotfl:

Warning: This post contains wild speculation done by untrained professionals, don't try this at home.

There are 10 clues listed, if one is revealed each day we'd get clues through April 1st. The email came out around 5:20 ET.

IF this was the rumored Disneyland Paris Race they might format the date in a European style. That would be a date of April 3rd, 4:50 being the time of the announcement (which is within a half hour of the ET sending of the emails for today's clue).

So, if I'm right, 10 days of clues, 1 day of a countdown clock, then a new race revealed. A Sunday announcement doesn't make that much sense to me but who knows.
