Did the Big River Grille and Brewing Works at the Boardwalk Inn close? It isn't available to make my a reservation on the reservation website.

I don't remember ever making a reservation there, actually. The restaurant is still listed on Disney's website, and in precisely the same place where there is a "Make Reservation" button for other restaurants, there is nothing on the web page for Big River Grille - I suppose they simply don't do reservations there.

no reservations ......
nice walk from Epcot to the Boardwalk

I just called Disney dining and they said that they do their own reservations and gave me the number. Should I make one or are they easy to walk up to and get a table?

I know that this seems like a cop-out, but....it depends.

It depends on how many people might have the same fantastic idea that you have for dinner at the same moment. By nature I am a planner, so I would would make a reservation just to be safe. Some people would rather have the flexibility that comes with not making a reservation, but I'm not one of those people! :lmao:

I was there a couple of weeks ago and its open. We walked up and had to wait about 45 minutes on a Saturday evening at about 7 PM. It is not too bad since they give you the little buzzer and you can shop right by our play some games etc.

As others have said, it's open and they take their own reservations. I stayed in a BWV right above it about three weeks ago, and it was open and quite busy.

I've only been once and wasn't thrilled with the food, though the beers and service were very good.

I ate there two years ago and I had to call to make a reservation. You actually had to call the restaurant directly and they only took the reservation up to 30 days in advance. So, my friends and I booked a different restaurant in case we couldn't get the time we wanted at Big River.

We'e eaten there several times over many years, basically since they opened and every time we say why did we come back. It really isn't worth a special trip to the Boardwalk, we've only eaten there because it's pouring and we don't want to walk to another resort or we think it'll be better than the last time.

I have to agree with you. We have dined there several times for lunch and dinner. The beer selection is good, but IMHO the food is not very special. We have come to enjoy the food and atmosphere more at ESPN Club at the BW which, I believe, does not take reservations, but we have never had to wait long. They are open late, too. :)

If you're going to Big River for beer - great. If you want a good dinner - pick somewhere else.. I agree, we like ESPN Club better and no they don't take reservations. If you want to sit in the restaurant side, the line is to the left. If you want to sit on the bar side, the line is to the right and the seating is first come first serve. The only time I've had issues with getting a seat is if there's a big sports game on.

If you want a really great place - try Flying Fish. However, I would definitely make a ressie for that one.

Big River is a must do lunch spot for me on every trip to WDW. The beers are excellent, the food is good "bar food" (not terribly fancy, but tasty) and the service has always been good.

ESPN, meanwhile, is truly horrible. I tried it several times over the years and each time was just terrible. Finally, I just decided to never return there again (this is the only place in all of WDW that has been so bad for me that I have made such a decision).
