Big River Grille and Brewing Works

It is not far at all. In fact, one year we had brought two-way radios and one of us ran over from the Beach Club to see if there was room, and "radioed" the others accross the lake to come join us.

In our experience, we've usually had quick seating and quick service. We *always* stop in at this place, sometimes more than once per trip.

thanks ever so much!:thumbsup2 This might well be our plan for arrival night then!!:thumbsup2

Just to clarify the reservations...and I am not sure if this is always or only during peak times, but DP and I just called the restaurant directly and were told that it is not exactly a reservation but more of a call ahead seating, so if the restaurant is on a wait, your wait will be shorter. They do ask you the time in which you would like to dine and if you would prefer to eat inside or out! Hope this helps. :)

They do take reservations but you have to call them direct; I just made one for my vacation in September. 407-560-0253.

I just called them today for September 16th and I got 7:30pm reservation.

My travel agent was told they were NOT on the Dining Plan by the reservation cast member and DON"T do reservations.

I called BRG direct after finding out from this board you have to call yourself.
The person who I talked to said that they are indeed on the dining plan and he would call the reservations number and set them straight.

We stumbled upon this place and it is on the list anytime we go.
:cool1:

we ate at the big river grille in april while staying at the boardwalk and it was great. my husband and i ate lunch while we watched our boys have their fun on the sea racers. but we will definatly be heading back there everytime. we didn't have or need ressie's we walked right up and got a seat outside.

I just called at 6:15 CST and they said they do NOT take reservations. I will try again tomorrow. I know they don't call it a reservation, just a call a head, but I would still like my name on the list.:confused3

We are going to be trying this for the first time this Sept. DH and I love to visit different brew pubs to taste the different brews. (I almost can't believe we haven't been there before. :) The Pale ale and Irish red sound tasty! Pumpkin beer, I am not so sure about...was it sweet?

I'd love to know how far in advance we should call them for reservations/call ahead seating. The good Disney folks gave us the phone number but we forgot to ask when we should call. :confused3

DH and I are considering this restaurant for his Birthday dinner, but neither of us drink beer. Is it still a great restaurant if you don't drink the beer? Is the food really good?

Yay, I am so excited to see some good things being said about Big River Grill, we just love it! To us, it is one of those out of the way, mostly overlooked places, that tends to get a bad rap for some reason. We haven't been there in a couple of years, but we are definitely planning on it this year since we'll be staying at the BWV. My fiance claims they have the best meatloaf he has ever had- and he is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, who loves his mom's cooking!

To answer the above poster's question, I think it is a fine place to eat even if you don't drink beer. If the weather is nice, try to get a seat outside- great for people watching!

I don't remember the pumpkin beer being sweet tasting, but it has been a number of years since I've had it. What I do remember it was one of the best tasting beers I've ever had.

Of course, I haven't seen it on any of the recent menus for the restaurant, so they may not brew it anymore, but enjoy whatever beer you have there.

Just got back from BW and the four of us ate at the Big River Grill on Thursday. Had really good Beer/Cheese soup. My son's best friend had a "grilled" Mahi/Mahi sandwich (rather than blackened, they will oblige if you ask) which was to die for. My son had the sirloin, perfectly medium as ordered and us Mom's had the NY Strip & Shrimp, very good. I love beer, I had the Steamboat Pale Ale, Yum!

No Adr's, waited 15 minutes, of course it was early June and the crowds are really down compared to last June both in restaurants and park attendance. We got in at Le Cellier on Friday w/ out ADR's as well.

Now that we've made reservations for Disney's Swan Resort next August, I have a feeling that we'll be spending 1 or 2 nights at the Big River Grille!

Thank you SO much for posting this!! We're staying at BWV's this next trip, just 10 months away!!! We will DEF spend some time there, for sure!! :thumbsup2

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

My husband and I had dinner here (ALONE! WOOT!) at the end of October and we chose it for the location. I wanted to sit outside and have a nice dinner.

Dinner was OK. I would not choose to eat here IF I had to sit inside, the food was just ok, it cost 86$ for our dinner but it was the location I wanted and that is what I got! We LOVED sitting outside on the boardwalk, here are a couple shots I took from where we sat at our table...

Thanks SO much for posting those!! We can't wait to stay there. Your right, location location location. We're bringing my 2 daughters, 21 & 15...they are going to LOVE staying there! So much to do & see! ;)

My friend and I ate there during our girls trip in Sept. We had requested an outside table. Have always loved the outside sitting area and atmosphere and thought it would be fun to chat and people watch. Unfortunately, it was so hot that we decided to eat inside instead. Our food was very good (I had salmon and she had a steak), but I thought the atmosphere inside was quite lacking. Wasn't pubby at all. Infact, I was surprised that the decor was so bland. I also wasn't crazy about my beer. I heard a few people complain that the beer wasn't even served in a pint sized glass which is unusual for a brew pub. I know my husb would have also commented had he been there. If I couldn't eat outside, I wouldn't go again.

This is our first dinner at Disney, every trip now. DH gets the beer flight. It's about 6 small glasses of beer on a special placemat that tells about each one. He loves it. The food is very good, and we love sitting out on the Boardwalk and eating a leisurely dinner before our hectic trip really gets underway! Maybe we shouldn't tell anyone else. Let's let it be our little secret! :goodvibes

Kathy

All for 5.00 Bucks! AWESOME!:thumbsup2 Food is not bad either.

We were there yesterday for a beer tapping. (DH had a beer. Me -- I only like the beer cheese soup. ;) ) First time we attended one. Kinda neat.

Figured I'd throw this out there. I just called them directly to make a reservation for Jan 16th. They do not have the calendar for Jan yet for bookings. She said to call back towards the end of Dec. She also said it was more of a "preferred seating" and they won't hold tables for anyone. I know this is similar to what others have posted but I figured I'd mention it.

Can I also just say how much I love the Disboards? LOL When I went to Disney's site to make a ressie and saw you couldn't, I said to myself "Hmmm, that's weird...I wonder why...well, let me check the Disboards to find out!!" And lo and behold upon a quick search I got my answer AND THEN SOME! How could we plan our trips without this place? :worship:

We went there in the beginning of the month and really enjoyed it. The food was not gourmet but it was very good. I had the balckened mahi mahi sandwich and the rest of my family a burger. We all enjoyed it. The beer was excellent.
