Big Announcement????

This "celebration" is a real let down. I mean, how lame is this? Open 24 yours on Leap Day. Oh, boy! And you get a free day, if you visit through the middle of March. WOW! :sad2:

I think the one thing that almost everyone is missing is that promotions are meant to put people in the resorts/parks during "down" times. This promotion fits with all the talk of reduced discounting. The typical visitor to WDW will think this is wonderful. Those of us spoiled by the recent massive discounting will obviously not like this announcememnt. Lastly, the marketing department did an awesome job, Again, many of use are disappointed but look how many were looking to find the details as soon as they became available?

I'm going to merge this with the other thread about the announcement.

yuck. how completely LAME and DISAPPOINTING.
if walt were alive, do you think he'd approve? he'd probably think it was a joke- his company wouldn't produce such hype for such a, quite frankly, garbage deal.
are they this bad at coming up with a decent deal, or do they just not care..?
-on a happier note, HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!

I don't think it's that lame. Making memories-everyone thought was lame and it turned out pretty cool. It would be really great to spend 24 hrs straight in MK!!!

Gee a big Screw You from Disney AGAIN!! What a let down to the majority of disney fans. A window of 2 lousy weeks for the whole world to get a free night out of 1 whole year. WOW...oh let not forget 1 Day of being open for 24hrs. Anyone wanna guess what cluster.... that will turn out ot be?

Come on Disney ya gotta help the rest of us out. Please?

I agree that they want to put people in the parks during quieter times but then they need to offer something with substance. I doubt that most people can just plan a vacation to be taken in just a few months. I would guess that most people need a little more to prepare than that.

I agree that this was lame.

We already knew about the leap year 24 hour thing...so this was major let down....maybe once Disney can actually surprise us with something that is really spectacular and would make people come to the park all year round and for more than just one day!!!!

O well . . we are DVC members so the whole buy 3 get one free doesn't apply . . and we take advantage of military salute tickets so . . oh well . .

Well I entered the contest, but the rest is a big stinker. I don't know anyone personally who could just take off in two months with no more notice than that.

Wow, I really don't get the complaints....it's a marketing thing that is all

1. Disney releases promotions through the whole year, I really doubt it will be the only promotion

2. You know mk and dl will be packed on leap day with all the crazy people that have to do the first of anything and need the t shirt pin to prove it

3. I think the point of the promotion is to lure people into coming to Disney over. Leap day

4. Contest ... Don't care either way odds of actually winning are really low

5. The average Disney visitor will not really care about any of this or even realize what it is really about.

For DLH the buy three get one free is actually MORE EXPENSIVE by $132, than the current room only regular discount and purchasing 5 day park hoppers, for the exact same dates.

LOL, it was a dissapointing *big* announcement, but then to see the promo is more expensive is really lame.

And, I would be able to go on this somewhat short notice. However I'm going to pass on this and just stay longer in July, use my 30% off senior discount when DL is open til 12 midnight every day and the weather won't be iffy like it is in Feb/March.

DVC members always get screwed by not being able to take advantage of promotions... they get a free night... we have to use all our points... yea - that's fair. :confused3

I think it was because, at least for people here, it was over hyped. I'm disappointed and I'm not even planing a trip this year.

Just about ever other Disney announcement is over hyped and then everyone is disappointed.. I think a lesson needs to be learned....

Plus the big announcements from Disney are usually more of a surprise and def less overhyped
