Hi,

For those of you who have been to Biergarten, a couple of questions...first, is it possible to get the last lunch seating at 3:45pm and still see the first (dinner time) show? Also, on Deb Will's site the Biergarten menu lists "desserts" under the buffet offerings, then toward the bottom says desserts are sold separately? Are there some desserts on the buffet that are included in the price, or are all desserts a separate charge?

Thanks--we're on a tight budget and I'm trying to get the most bang for our buck--any info and tips you have about this would be most appreciated!!

I wouldn't worry about the desserts. I don't even remember dessert. The food is abundant and filling. We did dinner so we could see the show, so I can't help you about late lunch seeing the dinner show.

A few years ago the desserts were ordered separtely (cost was extra). The past two times I have gone, the desserts were in the buffet wich were included in the cost.

Hope this helps,
Melanie

In 2000 and May of this yr the desserts were on the buffett.

There is a smaller show for lunch. I think the first dinner show is at 5 or 5:20

Thanks for the input regarding the desserts. I love German food and am hoping that we can eat here. Also, my kids would love the show. DH prefers to "play it by ear" instead of making PS arrangements in the parks, but we'll be in Epcot after the CP begins for the season and I'm concerned that all the Epcot restaurants will be more crowded at dinner time due to the CP packages. I was thinking a late lunch seating would solve that problem and perhaps save us a few $$ as well. I will probably try to make the PS anyway and steer DH in that direction... ;)

As long as you aren't trying to eat a a peak time, it shouldn't be too busy and you could probably manage without a PS. However, I would go ahead and make one, since there is no penalty if you don't show for it.

Steve Soares Site lists the following for the show:
Experience the excitement of Oktoberfest with a festive dinner show in the Biergarten.
Daily at 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:45, 5:55, 7:00, 8:05p.m.
Length of show: 25 minutes
Melanie is correct about the desserts, they are included in the price of the buffet. The apple strudel with vanilla sauce is wonderful.

The first time we ate at the Biergarten we had PS. The last couple of times though, we walked right in but we were eating at off times -mostly because we just can't adjust to Eastern time. :D

I looked on Deb's site for a menou but it was very general. I've eaten there once before but I can't really remember much of anything. I do remember being pleasantly surprised. Does anyone know more about what foods are available at lunch? Also, can you get the AP discount for lunch here? (10% at sit down restaurants for lunch)

I agree about the PS ressies. Last time we were there, we waited quite a bit even with a PS #.

YangYang - We ate there in September for lunch and used the 10% AP discount.

They had a big salad bar with the basic salad stuff as well as German Potato Salad and a barley salad that I really liked. On the hot bar I remember: roast chicken, ham & sauerkraut, meatballs, chicken schnitzel, spaetzle, several kinds of wursts & sausages, red cabbage, roasted potatoes. There were other things too, but my memory fails me. The only desserts I remember were the apple strudel and black forest cake.

When I was there is September the deserts included a fruit compote besides the strudel and cake that was mentioned above. I was not impressed with compote at all. The chicken soup was really good, as was the chicken and at the salad bar there were various cold sausages that were also yummy. Now you must know that I am not a fan of sausage (too much fat content) but I loved two of the cold sausages.

Yup, desserts are included...yup, you probably will be too stuffed to care!
If you love German food, you are in for a real treat. The sauerbraten (any German restaurant's signature dish) was good...not great, good. But the roast pork was excellent. If you like that, you will be in heaven. (I had three platefuls!!!)
Have fun!
