Can anyone give me info on the Biergarten restaurant other than what's posted on the Disney website. Do they have a selection of food that kids would eat? I see the buffet menu but are there more options? Any further info would be great. I ate there years ago in the 90's and can't remember that much detail and didn't have to worry about the kids. I loved it and so did my sis and it's the #1 place she wants to eat when we go with our families together.

Biergarten is pretty much the same as it has always been, I ate there in '88 and again last year and it didn't feel like it had changed that much, which is a good thing because I really loved it in '88. The food is delicious, for adults, but there really isn't much for kids especially if they are picky. My daughter ate the some of the pretzel bread and chicken schnitzle, if your kids like pasta salad they have a delicious one there.

Despite the limited kids menu, it was one of my daughter's favorite restaurants. She loved dancing with the other kids to the band.

Agree with the previous poster re: pretzel bread & schnitzle.
They also have macaroni & cheese.

I might be out of luck with the kids. My step-son is a very picky eater. Won't eat mac and cheese that didn't come from a blue box if ya know what I mean. We try to get him to do other things but he just sits there and cries and that kinda ruins the experience for everyone else. He spent too many of his younger years living with a mother that let him do whatever he wanted and now that his dad has custody meals are a big issue. He's 10 and seems so set in his way already. I do wish he'd try it, I'm sure he would like some of it but he just most likely won't even try. Sorry, got a bit off topic there.

I find it to have a TON of good options. Wish we had gotten to eat there last month, but we ended up having to do something else (long story). I think you'll be fine!

They have meatballs (hot and cold!) and German meatloaf. I can't remember what all, but I have one of the pickiest eaters alive and she did well there. I absolutely loved our lunch experience! I had been wanting to eat there for years and we finally did so this past June. LOVED IT!

They have some sort of sausage thing that you can pass off as a hot dog to kids. This is what my DD, who is also a picky eater, has whenever we go there, and she loves it. She also eats the chicken, which when you do not add the sauce to it, is really just a chicken cutlet. I slice it into long pieces and call it chicken fingers. Despite the limited kids options, this is one of DD's absolute favorite restaurants, as the festive atmosphere more than makes up for the limited kids choices.

There was plenty for the kids, as well as plenty for my very picky, non-adventurous hubby! They also had (don't know if they still do) one of the best desserts on all of WDW property...this cream or custard topped with a berry sauce. SO DELISH!!! Plus my kids LOVED the oompah band and dancing. Very fun place!

They have alot of choices...BUT IF you are looking for a kids buffet with pizza, chicken nuggets, French fries. They do not have it.They have german, kid friiendly dishes..Mac n Cheese, rotisserie chicken, Chicken schnitzel.

My children can be rather picky, but they have never left Biergarten hungry. There are many kid-friendly options and it's one of their favorite places to eat at WDW.

My bolding.

You'd be wise to nip this in the bud, or you'll face years of struggling. I'd matter-of-factly just leave him alone. Let him know this is the menu, and he will have to choose from it. If nothing appeals, tell him that he will go hungry. End of story. Don't cave and buy him a snack later. Let him live with the choices he has made.

Yes, you may pay for a buffet and he may eat nothing.

This works every time. You have to be firm in your resolve. "Here's the food. Oh, you don't like any of it? Sorry, you'll have to be hungry until breakfast tomorrow morning."

This is a very unpopular method here on the DIS, I know. But I have raised 3 daughters this way, ages 28, 26 and 15. They are all adventurous eaters now. Two of them love to cook, and all three have always loved trying new foods.

Since Sis wants to go, hope you are all able to go as a group. I do agree that Biergarten usually works for picky eaters, because there are a number of items where any sauce is on the side and it's the sauces seem to make food issues for many people.

For your son, would it help to explain to him up front that it is a buffet, that he can choose or not choose whatever he likes, and then you and the rest of the family simply ignore what he does or does not eat? (And then - out of his hearing - STRONGLY reinforce this with the rest of the family, so that nobody picks at him and sets up a fight?). So that if all he eats is pretzel bread (like big soft pretzels, but in short straight sticks rather than criss-crossed like a pretzel) everybody will be OK with it? It may or may not lead him to eat anything, but at least it will not detract from the rest of the family's fun. At age 10 he can go cruise around the buffet and make his own choices; it's not like a toddler where you bring them a plate and then they reject everything on it. His plate, his choices, his tummy.

in our last trip it was one of the best TS we visited, they were very accommodating with my DD allergies and we had a lot of fun, I even danced a waltz with my DD!
