Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique/Disney Costume Dresses PIX

To the OP, your little girl is adorable! You must have an extra closet for all those costumes. I would have loved to have had so many pretty princess dresses when I was little. :lovestruc

I bet many people find your pictures and comments helpful. I don't have kids, but even I liked looking at all the different dresses out there! This big kid wishes they came in adult sizes! :rotfl:

Did you get married in the Magic Kingdom? Your pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Pushy parents are one of my pet peeves, and they bother me more at Disney than elsewhere! I just can't understand why parents would ignore their kids' discomfort on a trip that is supposed to be every kid's dream come true! We brought DD's Aurora costume from home, complete with comfy pink Skechers slip-ons that are cute but functional, because we knew she'd want to wear the dress all day and wanted it to be comfortable (especially the shoes!)

The pirate cruise does look cool, but DD has little interest. She's a princess, pure & simple, and is mainly interested in the princess experiences. So we've done the Aurora princess tea and we've done the BBB and we've done the castle lunch, and next trip we're going to have "grown-up" tea at the Grand Floridian. Maybe when she gets a bit older she'll get more into the pirate side of things and the kid-only adventures, but right now she wants princesses and things we do together.

Some of those shoes will leave blisters so you have to watch out for that. If she doesn't mind wear think socks. Also, if you want total comfort OLD NAVY has these cork thong flip flops w/ a slight heel right now that come in Silver (great for deluxe Cin, Ariel mermaid, etc.) , Gold (great for SB, Belle, Jasmine, etc.), White (Nice for Ariels wedding, Alice, etc.) , or Black (Minnie Mouse) so it covers all of the costumes! They're only $12.50 and will be comfy all day long! If you look back at my BBB Jasmine pic you'll notice my dd is wearing glitter gold sandals. These were a lot better than the soft Jasmines in the park. Those looked rough by the end of the day. The glitter sandals still look great! My dd would wear her costumes about a half a day and sometimes only for character meals. Whatever she wanted to do was fine by us. I'd NEVER ever force any child to keep a costume on for a "good picture". That's not fair to the kids and they will resent you for it. Have fun, save money, and let those little girls enjoy being a princess while at Disney!

FWIW, the majority of the BBB girls we saw in December did NOT have "just a little" make up on...it looked like it was applied w/ a trowel! I could definitely deal w/ "just a little."

Again, I think for $15 dd will be just as happy getting a ponytail and pixie dust at the Harmony Barber Shop.

If BBB offered THAT...for even $20 or $25, I would be much more comfortable w/ it. Unfortunately every one of their packages includes makeup.

As for playing dress up..I'm all for it. Dd has a bunch of TDS costumes, as well as a Disney princess "dress up" trunk w/ some play silks added. Playing dress up never included make up back when we played it...and dd doesn't have any either.

LOL, "applied with a trowel" LOL, too true. And too true what others said about sore tootsies after such what's supposed to be a magical experience. My heart aches for them.

There's an endless number of ways for little girls to feel magical at WDW (and in life) without being mini-beauty queens or playing with *barbies* (who are quite grownup)when they're essentially still babies. I'll find the link to the national news segment about this with respected psychologists in agreement.

But human nature is that none of us take advice very well; we're all pretty certain that our way is *right*.

Right or wrong, I personally love others' ideas; not that I always agree but I love food for thought. Amazing what we don't perceive, what others *see* that we don't.

Also its amazing how clearly one sees in hindsight, including myself, in myriad ways.

(BTW we have amazing kids, like you truly wouldn't believe, but I'll never post pics of them online)

DD loves to dress up! It is sad to see it start to fade as she gets older. We used to go everywhere and she would be dressed up in one of her princess dress - to the store, the gas station, everywhere! Now she will dress up at home and at Disney.

Last year she did BBB for the first time. We brought our own CInderella dress but she really wanted to add the shoes to her outfit. We agreed she could buy them but she had to use her own money! Well she wore them for about ten minutes before putting her crocs back on! LOL!! She did put them back on for our lunch at CRT but that was it. The princess shoes are not theme park shoes in my opinion but my dd had to learn that one for herself and at her own cost. She regretted that puchase for the entire trip. Now when she does dress up for a day at disney - her feet stay comfy in her crocs.

We will be doing BBB on our upcoming trip as her birthday present - once again we will bring our own dress but this time I do not believe she will buy the shoes! LOL!!

I did tell our FGT to go light on the make up which she did. In my opinion I see nothing wrong with it. You do not have to do the makeup or you can specifiy to make it lighter than you have seen. Our FGT was wonderful and very tactful, Most importantly she did a great job in making dd feel special!!!

To the OP: I believe my dd would be green with jealousy at the number of dresses your dd has!! You are a wonderful momto encourage your dds imagaination so. I too have gotten great deals on dds princess dresses. Only once I have paid full price and I regretted it. It was the Jasmine one where the coins fall off easily. After we washed it - it became indecent to wear in public it was so see through. I have seen a new version of Jasmine at DL that I want to take a closer look at when I am not with DD. We also have TDS Jasmine (pink purple) that DD loves and everyone at DL/WDW comments on when we go.

This is a website that's supposed to help people see what Disney is all about...what they sell, the rides, the meals, the food you can eat, your photopass pictures, so please people POST POST AND POST some more 'til your fingers get sore! :dance3:

To the OP your DD is just lovely, princess or not. I think it is great that she has a wonderful selection of costumes to dress up in and enjoy. One of the most beautiful things to see come alive is a child's imagination. Dressing up can play a huge role in letting all that creativity run free!

My DD, 5, did BBB with her cousins in January and it was a wonderful time for all of us. They each chose a different style so they did not look exactly like the next kid. But even if they did pick the same, who cares? They picked it and they enjoyed it. We went with costumes from home, but if I could have afforded DD would have had more than one and it woudl have been direct from Disney. She really wanted to chose a dress there, but it made better sense for us to bring it and use the money on some other wonderful souvie!!

I would post a picture of the make up pallet they give the princesses at BBB, but I can't right now. To say that the make up was applied with a trowel is just laughable! The children get to keep the left overs and beleive me there is not enough there to apply it heavily let alone with a trowel.. Maybe some parents embellished the make up afterward, but there is not enough to go crazy with in the first place.

The thing to remember is that the BBB is all about your princess getting to live out a fantasy for one day. Let them and you also get to enjoy your child's happiness. Pure, innocent fun. That is all it is.

Thank you. You know you could have returned those shoes if you saved the receipt! If a dress is too itchy or the shoes are hurtful they'd do a refund. At least my BFF has done it before when her little girl could not wear the shoes. Her feet started to hurt after 15-20 minutes. My in laws gave my DD the money to do the castle when BBB first opened. I priced it out and ended up getting two $60 dresses and the hair and nails package (cheaper then) for less than the big package. Since we had bought the DIsney costume they just assumed (I guess) that we bought the big oackage and gave me the picture package anyway. I told them at the end and they said well, don't worry about it, our mistake. Enjoy. One of the costumes we got was the green Jasmine but it tore all to pieces. I swapped it out three times thinking it was defective so I ended up trading it for Snow White. When I bought the Jasmine (for $20 same exact one with the Disney tags and everything) it has held together just fine! Not one problem.

A child turns out good or bad depending upon the parenting they receive growing up. My parents were always liberal with me and let me do about anything I wanted and although I've partied with some of the biggest names bands/celebs on this Planet not once have I tried drugs! (Not even pot when I was in a room full of people snorting coke and shooting heroin into their arms). I've seen and been around things that would make you cringe, yet never participated in the acts. Why? Because I was raised to know better. I had a very good friend ( several actually due to the fact I grew up in the bible belt) who had parents who forbid "Barbies", "Makeup", and in some cases the girls could only wear dresses below their knees and could not even attend a party if a boy was there! That's extreme and in three of those cases one had her first daughter (out of wedlock) at age 15, another (still never married) at age 16, and another had two kids during high school by different fathers! Now, me, the WILD Barbie dressing makeup short skirt wearing girl never even "went there" 'til I was OUT of High School so keep pushing your limits on your kids and see what it gets you. You might get lucky but more times than not the kids will go against you just to prove a point. You may not realize it right away but it'll hit you out of the blue and it wont be pretty. I've considered the fact that freaky perverts are everywhere staring at kids thinking nasty thoughts but those same FREAKS lurk on your kids at school, in the grocery stores, and even at your CHURCH so posting a picture on here isn't going to change anything. My kids are on TV shows, in movies, and all over advertising material everywhere anyhow so what difference will a few pictures of her in a Disney dress make? Seriously? A lot of people post pictures on here and Thank God for that! This is a website that's supposed to help people see what Disney is all about...what they sell, the rides, the meals, the food you can eat, your photopass pictures, so please people POST POST AND POST some more 'til your fingers get sore because people DO want to see it! If I had only known about this board when I first started going to Disney....OMG...that would have been so nice. :dance3:

lol, Clearly, people "do alot of things" like posting pics online! ??? :confused3

WDW is only one of COUNTLESS things that foster imagination within children, often in ways you'd least expect.

Think the child who plays with the box and not the present, using his/her imagination to create what the toy in itself never EVER could.

BTW, we are farrrr from *extreme* in either direction.

Ahh...if you only knew; posts like this DO make it quite tempting to tell!

Sounds like you really wanna show those kids off and you should! They sound amazing a the way you describe them!

I decided to skip BBB and do up the girls in the hotel room. A week before we went, I ran them up some new dresses, and added the broaches from their old ones, and did their hair and make up in the room. They loved it and were actually awarded 3 dreams in one day :wizard: , so we will be doing it again, for sure.

Did you get married in the Magic Kingdom? Your pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

THANK YOU! :cloud9: I was married last May in the gazebo on the Boardwalk. The pictures in my signature are from our Magic Kingdom photo shoot, which we did two days after the wedding. Having your pictures take there in wedding attire is something special you can opt to do if you have a Disney wedding. :goodvibes

i totally agree with mafibisha. fake hair and makeup on little girls, it really makes me sad. i have to see it every day. :(

My dd and I have been around and around about costumes because she wanted belle which she already has at home from disney shopping. I let her see all the pictures and to my amazement...she picked Minnie Mouse. It was great to get to see them in advance (we leave in 8 days) so that we can make a decision WITHOUT spending 15 minutes wandering around BBB.

To be honest, I was pretty uncomfortable w/ the amount of makeup on the BBB girls we saw around the park...but I could deal w/ that to a certain degree (even though I prefer dd not to have any at 6 or 7yo). I was VERY uncomfortable hearing parents chiding the children for getting "messed up" while touring the park in their BBB outfits...and seeing the poor little girl in the GF bathroom crying because her feet were all red and swollen from her princess shoes. It really was disturbing.

Ugh. That's just stupid parenting :-( We're going in December and my youngest dd (3 next week) LOVES dress up. I mean literally takes her clothes off and pretends that her sisters nightgown are princess dresses, so I am planning on letting her dress up during our trip. My oldest had no interest in it on her first trip at age 5.

Thank you so much for posting the pictures. Your DD is absolutely adorable!! I only have grandsons, so alas I will not be buying princess dresses, darn it all!!!

Lovely to see your DDs and the beautiful costumes you make CastleCreations! I keep checking out your EBay store and you have such a talent. Your homemade BBB is great and I am sure your DDs enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

For my DD the best part of BBB was the way she was treated, plus the cool hair. (She opted for the Pop Princess). We brought our own dress from home, store bought though and just opted for the middle package. It was a lovely day and my DD got to share it with her cousins.

The OP was sharing something Disney on this, a Disney board. If you don't agree with BBB, why would you click on a topic that is clearly marked as BBB related with pics?!?

My daughters haven't done BBB, but I don't begrudge or judge the OP or anyone else who allows their children to go. It's Disney...it's a day to pretend that we, as adults, are kids again. It's a day for little boys to be pirates, and it's a day for little girls to be princesses. If you don't agree with it, don't take part in it. I thought it was a rule of the DIS to not insult other participants. Questioning someone's parenting skills based solely upon going to BBB is an insult IMHO.

OP, thanks for sharing the pics. I very much enjoyed looking at all of the pretty princesses in this thread.

I just don't understand why everyone is getting so up in arms about what is essentially little girls palying dress up. Did none of you who are so opposed to this ever put on mom's makeup, her heels, her jewlery and just PLAY? For heaven's sake that is all this is. Little girls being little girls and playing dress up. I for one intend to let DD4 have the whole kit and kaboodle if that is what she wants to do. I don't think is ages and jades a child. It is all about imagination, creativity, and playing pretend. Let the little girls play princess without being disturbed by what is a normal part of most little girl's childhoods. It's not like they are dressing them like Britney and giving them a margarita!!!!

Love your dresses and you did a GREAT job with the hair too! One of the FGIT told me you can get the "pixie dust" from Sally Beauty Supply (I've never went in to check) but we did get some similar "dust" at Libby Lu's. It's fun to try the BBB out at least once but now that it takes forever I'll probably do it myself too. Last time we went our appointment ran over an extra hour and that's just not fun. Before we walked right in within 5 minutes of arrival. I noticed the prices have went up a good bit too. I bet your girls have some cute Disney clothes! My mom used to make my DD those denim sets with the (Disney character) ruffled bell bottom legs and chenille tops. GORGEOUS! You're very talented! And the girls are dolls! :goodvibes

Well they are gorgeous! We thought about doing a 10 year anniversary renewal but things didn't work out. Maybe for 15 years? If you don't mind me asking how much does the Photoshoot cost and is it early in the morning before the park opens? The sky looks so amazing! What a GREAT wedding. Part of our Honeymoon was spent at Disney but at the time we didn't even know you could get married there! Wonderful memories! :lovestruc
