Bibbidi-Bobbidi-BOO and a few Disney Dresses too!~ A Sept ’13 TR

I love matching ideas...cant always get the DH to agree, but most of the time he does it :)

Love all the pics...making me wish I was there RIGHT NOW!!

Question on the girls hats...did you get them there or buy them before hand? If before hand where did you find them I love them

Oh and congrats on the Saints win! I had one very sad hubby here last Sat night.

Thanks!! I can just about imagine your hubby's reaction, it would have been very similar in this house had we lost! :rotfl: It was a very intense game, though!! I'm amped up for tomorrow's game already. :thumbsup2

I love love LOVE the matching shirts! I'm glad the dissenters still picked up some brown shirts for the day, because the group photos look so good with all of you coordinating. :goodvibes

Bronwyn's pigtails are so precious. And I love the instant change in Isla's face when Mickey appears! What a mouse! He has that effect on Paxton too. :thumbsup2 Looks like such a fun breakfast! Bummer about Goofy getting pulled away before you could get a good picture too. Especially because all of the kids seem to be looking in about the same direction, and I'm sure that is a difficult thing to do!!! Those parades at the character meals, while I understand they are supposed to be fun an interactive for the kids, can really wreak havoc on the character interaction time.

Lovely safari photos!

Yet another day that we were also at the same park on the same day as you. LOL We did AK all day the 28th before heading over to dinner at 1900 Park Fare with the Stepsisters. Seems like almost every day we were both in the same parks and other than Hoop Dee Doo and AK on 10/2, never spotted your family. That was actually the same day that we ran into Tammy and her family over in Dinoland.

I love the their outfits and that everyone was in brown to match the kids for pictures is awesome. It makes the pictures so nice! We haven't been to Tusker House in awhile. I remember the breakfast buffet being very good but we waited quiet awhile to be seated. Maybe we should try again since I love the characters in their safari gear.

Another great update with your adorable kids in their adorable outfits!

Your safari pictures were fantastic! We have the Animal Kingdom Disney sing along as well. Now I have that song in my head! Thanks!:rotfl:

We are seeing "Let's Celebrate" version of Disney on Ice tomorrow. Alexa is currently going through all her Princess dresses trying to find the best one to wear. We are excited for a dose of Disney. :cool1:

Just lurking on your TR and wanted to leave some comments :goodvibes First, you have such an adorable family! Second, I am absolutely OBSESSED with your Buzz and Woody shoes. I love Toms but I'd be so worried about ruining a pair. Were they hard to make? I'd love to know! And last, Go Phils! :)

Love your custom outfits! We had to put off our trip in 2013 and are going in December 2014 and I am so inspired to create some custom outfits for my daughter. Would love to get husband to participate but I have a feeling all the bugging and begging to go to Disney (pretty much everyday) has been a little too much for him.:rotfl2:

I do not think the brown shirts were corny at all. How much did your parents like how the pictures turned out with everyone coordinating? Did you do the appliques yourself for the shirts?

OOOH I can't wait to see the photos of the Ariel room when you're done. :hyper:

Hehe, kids do like puddles.

I'm one who loves the matching attire idea. I don't find it corny at all. I love that the kids even have themed shorts. Super cute.

Haha, yeah Isla does not look happy in those eearly morning photos. Oops looks like Mickey changed that in a hurry. He is magic!

Nice Safari. And you are kinda right. There used to be an Animatronic Elephant (back when they had an actual story line), but that's gone now.

Bronwyn's room is really coming along....I even found a giant dinglehopper for the wall!

Very good to know! Yes I was probably thinking of that animatronic elephant that they used to have. My mother will be relieved to know that Disney wasn't trying to trick her, haha! :lmao:

The matching shirts are super cute!

It's hard to believe but yes all the animals on the safari are real! Great pictures!

It is pretty amazing that all of those animals are real!!

Great update! Love the pics! :)

Thank you, thank you!!

Question on the girls hats...did you get them there or buy them before hand? If before hand where did you find them I love them

Thankfully Joe is pretty easy going and just goes along with all of my craziness. :rolleyes1

Yes I wish that I was there RIGHT NOW too!!!

I bought the girls zebra & giraffe safari hats before our trip... on Ebay actually (my other obsession!) They are an older Gymboree line.

Thanks!! I can just about imagine your hubby's reaction, it would have been very similar in this house had we lost! :rotfl: It was a very intense game, though!! I'm amped up for tomorrow's game already. :thumbsup2

Lovely safari photos!

I love Bronwyn in pigtails too. She usually takes them out as soon I put them in, so I couldn't believe that they stayed in all day!

The change in Isla's whole mood was instant! Boy would it be great to have a Mickey here for her "off" days.

Getting all 4 kiddos to look in the same direction for a pic is definitely a challenge! And then darn Goofy had to go off to his parade, haha.

That was actually the same day that we ran into Tammy Hylton and her family over in Dinoland.

OMG, I can't believe it! The same park again! Lol And wait... 1900 Park Fare for dinner? *spoiler alert* That's where our ADR was for that night!!! That is just craziness! We must think alike!

I love all of the characters in their safari gear too. You should definitely give Tusker House a try again. You could try an early ADR and maybe there won't be a long wait to get in. :thumbsup2

Aww, thank you!

Oh fun! I hope you enjoyed Disney on Ice! You'll have to post some pics of the parts that I missed. Jorie was bummed that she had picked her Aurora dress and then she was the only princess that wasn't in the show!

:welcome: I'm so glad that you came out of lurkdom to comment!

Thank you! Oh I was so nervous that I was going to ruin those Toms. I had all of the supplies for a loooong time before I finally worked up the nerve to start on them.
I had googled "diy painted toms" and found a ton of great tips from a blog (Coney Island California) Once I got started, it was actually pretty easy! I actually used painters tape to help with the straight lines in the design and I just took my time. You should give it a try! :artist:

Great avatar by the way!! The kids gave that vinylmation to Joe for Father's Day last year (another Ebay find) He's a huge Phillies fan :goodvibes

Oh yay! I'm glad that I inspired you to try some customs. I think that they make Disney even more magical. And for your hubby... you should do what I did... only pack coordinating shirts for him to wear, then he would be forced to particiate. :rotfl2:

I do not think the brown shirts were corny at all. How much did your parents like how the pictures turned out with everyone coordinating? Did you do the appliques yourself for the shirts?

They loved the pictures, so I think they were happy that they went along with it.
No, I didn't do the appliques. (I wish!) I mailed the tees to a designer who did them for me.

Yay, your vacation is SO close!! Have fun!!:yay:

Loving your report so far.

Thank you so much!! Stick around for more! :dance3:

I just got caught up. With all the holidays I got super behind on my TR reading.
The dresses all so beautiful! :lovestruc And I just noticed the adorable little ears on Bronwyn the day you traveled to wdw. SO cute! Did you make them? Are they little barrettes? I’m hoping DD will have enough hair for something like that the next time we go.

Wanted to mark my place and then catch up!!

First off, love the kids names! Love bigger families! I have two boys and hope to have a princess one day SOON! :))

Love the painted TOMS! Awesome!

We were in Disney during the fall too- Love the feeling of fall at Disney!

I know what you mean! I feel like I still haven't caught up from the holidays.

Thank you! Yes those little Minnie ears are on snap clips. I wish that Bronwyn would have kept them in longer. I would put them on her and as soon as I backed up to take a pic, her hands were up at her head taking them out, haha. I actually got them from a friend and I believe that she had bought them in Tokoyo Disneyland. ::MinnieMo

The Fall is my favorite time of year... and definitely a great time to be in Disney!! :sunny:

We had just finished up our Safari breakfast and our expedition through an African savanna....so keeping with the theme of the morning we were headed to see the Festival of the Lion King next. We made our way over to Camp Minnie-Mickey, enjoying the beauty of the park along the way.

We were just in time for the first show of the day. We all filed in to the theater and were seated in the Giraffe section.

Yes, the lady in front of us was taking pics with her iPad! :rotfl:

Wow, this show has it ALL!! Singing, dancing, acrobatics, spectacular costuming & characters, and even some stilt walkers & fire twirlers. Definitely some animatronics here, and they were amazing! Being a former gymnast, of course the Tumble Monkeys were my favorite with their swinging and flipping. Oh and the flying bird's aerial performance was just beautiful! The whole show was outstanding. Definitely a must-see! It reminded me a lot of the Lion King on Broadway.

How did it take me so long to find this TR? I'm a mama of four, too. I've only read the first day so far but will be catching up soon. Your kids are adorable! I was cracking up over the kids' first question asking if someone was coming over. We get that a lot in our house, too. :rotfl2:

Off to read more. I'm definitely going to be following along!

Now I'm not even sure what Bronwyn was pouting about,
but I remember we all had a little giggle when she gave us this face:

We had one more Must-Do on our list: Finding Nemo the Musical!
So our next stop: Dinoland U.S.A.

We had some time to kill before the next show so we decided to fit in a ride on TriceraTop Spin.

Well as we waited in line, the ride stopped and everyone on the ride had to get off and then they shut it down. So, so much for that thought. We checked out Primeval Whirl but all of the kids were too short to ride. So we stopped for a bathroom break and then slowly made our way over to the theatre.

Miss Bronwyn slept through the show.

Another must-"Sea" (haha :rotfl2:) when you're in Animal Kingdom. I was a little thrown off at first that you could see the people who were handling the puppets... but I quickly got used to it and I REALLY enjoyed the show. It follows along with the storyline of the movie and it really was spectacular!

I think that it is so awesome that these Broadway-type shows are included in your park ticket. If you think about how much you would pay to see a show like this, or FOTLK or Fantasmic, etc. ... it makes it SO worth it!!

continued in next post...

By now we were all feeling a little hungry... and I knew the perfect place to eat:

I'm not sure what our parents ordered.
But we ordered 3 adult meals:
Fruit Plate - seasonal sliced fruit plate served with honey yogurt
Pork Sandwich - served with coleslaw
Ribs and Chicken Combo - served with baked beans and coleslaw
and 3 Uncrustables kids meals that each came with grapes, carrot sticks & a drink.

There was a ton of food and everything was very good! Joe and I gave our desserts (a chocolate mousse and a key lime mousse) to the kids to share, so I'm not sure how they were... but they sure looked yummy.

What a great counter service option in AK that we would definitely go back to!

After lunch, Joe's parents decided to go back to their resort for a swim & rest before dinner. We were going to stick around a little while longer because we still had a couple of FastPasses to use!

First up-

Jorie wanted to ride so badly but she was about two inches too short. I tried to bribe Donovan with some kind of Yeti souvenir if he would ride, haha, but he said no way... So it was just me and my mom. We didn't bother getting a rider switch pass since Joe isn't a fan roller coasters. Our FP+ was from 1-2 and we rushed over to "clock-in" our magic bands right before 2:00.

We conquered Expedition Everest!! Yeah!!!
BEST. COASTER. EVER!!!

Our final FP+ for the day was for Dinosaur!

Now we weren't sure if Joe and Isla could handle this ride (heck.... I wasn't even sure I could handle it!) so they ended up staying back with Bronwyn, but we grabbed a Rider Switch pass just in case..

Donovan, Jorie, my mom and I joined the FP line which was NOT short. It was probably the longest FP line we had to wait in on the whole trip. Plus the added time of the film that they show you before the ride.... Joe said that he felt like we were gone forever.

So what did we think?

I think this photo says it all...

Before our trip, I kept seeing ride photos with everyone scared and looking to the right... so I thought that I would be clever and get in the seat to the farthest left! haha That did not work out for me as you can see!

Jorie was definitely scared but said that she was ready to ride it again. Little Miss Adventure!

Donovan was down right terrified! We'll see if we ever get him to ride that one again!!!

And my mom had been on it before and she knew what to expect. So not much of a reaction from her.

The ride was REALLY bumpy and jerky, so I thought it best for Joe NOT to ride... especially after his ride on TOT putting him out of commission the day before. And I thought that we should wait another year or so for Isla to ride... so we decided to skip on using the Rider Switch pass.

And then, out of the corner of my eye, I thought that I spotted something better...
something that we were definitely overdue for...
a very well known Disney Snack...
a favorite of many....

So instead of riding again, I asked the kids if we should get... a Mickey Bar!!

A Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar, to be exact.

It was the perfect opportunity, especially since all of the kids were wearing brown shirts, haha. So we headed over to the snack cart and Jorie was the only one who actually picked a Mickey bar.

When the others saw what else was available, Donovan & Isla both chose an ice pop. I picked a Frozen chocolate covered banana- Yum! and Joe had a Frozen lemonade.

On our way out of Dinosaur, Donovan had spotted a giant dinosaur toy (an Allosaurus maybe?) that he was sure that that's what he wanted to spend his spending $ on. So Joe took him back into the dump shop to buy it. After that, we decided to call it a day... and head to the bus stop. At the bus stop we split ways with my mom so that we could all head back to our resorts and get freshened up for dinner.

NEXT...

Back at the Poly, we changed into our clothes for dinner. We had a 5:40 ADR to meet some very silly Stepsisters. I knew that there was a walking path from the Poly to the Grand Floridian and I suggested that it might be nice to walk over.

Donovan thought that a speedboat would be a better option!

Well as we made our way across the Poly grounds.... this is was we saw

That sky looked ominous. We definitely did not want to take the chance of getting stuck in the rain! so change of plans, we turned around and headed to the GCH to catch the resort monorail. On our way we passed the Wyland Gallery. It was pretty neat to see an artist at work.

After a very quick monorail ride, we arrived at the Grand Floridian. And GRAND it was!! The lobby was just stunning! We had a few minutes before we needed to check in for our dinner reservation so I stopped to take a few pics.

Then we took the fancy glass elevator down to the first floor. The kids thought that it was so cool that they could see out as we went down.
Joe's parents and my mom were already in the lobby waiting for us, so we checked in at 1900 Park Fare for our "Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner."

We were directed over to the line for the PP photos. Our parents decided to sit this photo out... maybe because they didn't "match" us! Haha

We had the kids make some pressed coins while we waited and then after what seemed like a very LONG time, our buzzer finally went off.

We were brought in to our table, which was in a really great spot right in the middle of the restaurant.... the only problem was that there were 9 of us and the table that we were seated at was definitely NOT made for 9 people.

The chairs were squeezed so tightly together that we could hardly move them out to sit down at the table. Well this would not have been such a big problem if the dinner wasn't a buffet and we didn't need to be getting up and down for our food.

Then as we were trying to figure out how we were going to actually sit down, and people kept bumping past us as they were going back & forth to the buffet, our waitress came to the table and very firmly stated that we NEEDED to get our food NOW before the characters started coming to our table. She was NOT nice about it. She was down right rude and made us feel very rushed. Boy this meal was not off to a good start and it had barely even started!

So Joe and I took a trip up to the buffet to load up some plates for the kids. Well the line for the buffet was ridiculously long. One of the waiters who was trying to cut through the line to get to the kitchen(I'm guessing), very rudely stated that the line that we were standing in was for the kids food and we needed to go to the other side. Well we WERE in line for the kids food. Ugh, I was so annoyed. Boy, were all of the waiters and waitresses having a bad night?

So after what seemed like forever, we were able to get some food for the kids. And that's when they started introducing the characters. Joe and our parents snuck back up to the buffet to get some plates for themselves but I didn't want to miss any of the character fun! Plus I had to be on photo & autograph book duty.

See Joe there in the background, he was missing Cinderella and Prince Charming!!!! Lol (I'm sure he didn't mind)

First up to our table was a very charming Prince Charming.

He was very chatty and loved the girls dresses. He made sure to tell Jorie to keep an eye on her necklace because the mice like to take them.

Next up was the beautiful..... Cinderella

The girls were in heaven!

continued in next post...

Anastasia was next...

She LOVED seeing herself in Jorie's autograph book!

then it was Drizella's turn...

"Ahhh!!! My twin!!!!"

She noticed that Isla is a big fan of oversized hair accessories as well!

The Stepsisters were hilarious! SO MUCH FUN!!

Now at some point at the beginning of our meal, Joe had asked our waitress if we could switch to a bigger table and she had said that she would see what she could do. Later a Manager-type lady approached our table with this

and she apologized for us being squashed together at such a small table. It was a sweet gesture and the kids were thrilled.

And then it was time for some dancing...

And Prince Charming asked Isla to dance!

And then he asked Jorie to dance...

So we had seen all of the characters, except for the Fairy Godmother and I had yet to eat a thing. I went up to the buffet to finally get myself a plate of food which ended up being a bowl of strawberry soup and a few other things that didn't leave much of an impression. I had heard great things about the Strawberry soup and it ended up being VERY tasty.

I then asked our waitress if the Fairy Godmother would be coming to our table (I believe that there was another character with us when it would have been her turn to see our table and it seemed as if she had skipped us and wasn't going to be coming back) Our waitress's answer was that EVERY character will see EVERY table, we just had to be PATIENT. Umm ok..... now I really didn't like her. And for the record... I am a very patient person, ha!!

So we patiently waited.... and waited.... and waited. Bronwyn was really starting to get antsy, so Joe's dad took her out for a walk.

So by now everyone was finished eating and all we were waiting for was the Fairy Godmother. She was all the way over on the other side of the restaurant and it was going to take forever for her to get back to us. Now I really hate making any type of fuss or being confrontational and it wouldn't have been a big deal.... we totally could have left without meeting her but I had something really special that I wanted to show her...

Well the manager lady, who had given us the cupcakes, happened to be walking by so we asked if she could have the Fairy Godmother come over to our table because she had missed us. Minutes later, the FG made her way over to our table. Wow, ask and you shall receive, right?!

I had to show off my Serendipi D~ bag! The FG was SO surprised and she LOVED it!

Now I really, really, really want to love 1900 Park Fare because the character interaction was SO wonderful... but I can not seem to get past the rude service. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth whenever I think about it. Ugh!!

Now that dinner was finally over, where were we headed to next? Magic Kingdom... and as a side note: It was supposed to be the busiest day of the month of September at Magic Kingdom. Yeah good planning, Rachel! Friday and Sunday were both MNSSHPs, so it was the only night while my in-laws were there that we'd be able to see the Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes. So I figured that we'd take that chance and make it work.

Before we headed up to catch the monorail, I had it in my head that I wanted to take a photo of the kids on the Grand Staircase. (Looking back, I should have done it while we were waiting for dinner!) So I started gathering the kids on the steps for a pic and then my Father-in-law, who was already up on the second floor, called for the kids to come up with him. Really, REALLY?

So I was only able to get a pic of Jorie.

Lots of little things kept adding up and my frustration was building.... I was still annoyed from dinner and then that no one was helping me get the kids together on the stairs and then that I wasn't able to get the photo that I wanted. I started bickering with my mom and then she said something about not being a mind reader and how everything can't always be perfect... etc. And at that point I just walked away from her before I said something that I really regretted.

We all headed up to the monorail platform. We waited, along with a ton of other people, for the monorail to arrive. And then when it did.... it was full! There was no way that we were fitting our two double strollers on it. So Joe and I worked on unloading them and folding them up. Our parents grabbed the kids and hopped on the monorail. Well by this time, all of the other people that were around had also rushed to get on. Joe found room on one. I on the other hand was walking up and down looking for a car that still had space, while lugging a heavy double stroller. Well all of the cars looked like they were completely full so I walked back behind the gate, and figured that I'd have to wait for the next monorail. Even though the rest of my family was leaving without me. They were calling me to get on and I was saying that there was no room. Finally some nice stranger came out and picked up the stroller for me and the rest of the people in the car squeezed together so that I could fit on. I was so thankful but I was on the verge of tears because I felt like I had caused a scene.

I rejoined everyone at the MK gate and then they asked me where were sitting for the parade. That's when I burst into tears. I had lost it. I had finally hit a wall. All of the stress of planning the trip, the lack of sleep and the constant go, go, go had caught up with me. I was exhausted. I was done. Done making all of the decisions. Done being everyone's tour guide. Done with having the whole trip on my shoulders.

They all stood there staring at me. ....I don't think they were ready for such a reaction from such a simple question, haha. So I let out a good cry and then it was time to get back to enjoying my vacation. I was in Disney for goodness sake! (No more meltdowns on the trip.... haha by me at least. I promise!)

Well since we were way behind "schedule," I was sure that the spot that I had researched and planned to be sitting in by 7:00 was long gone. We walked into MK and it was packed. We only had about 15-20 minutes before MSEP would be starting, so I didn't want to try and make it down Main Street to check. We headed over in the direction of the Harmony Barber Shop since I knew that there was a crosswalk there that maybe the kids could jump in when the CMs put up the rope. Thankfully that plan ended up working out and the kids scored a great spot to see the parade.

continued in next post...

The Main Street Electrical Parade started and instantly my mood improved!

We all loved it! It was a huge hit with the kids. They were in awe by all of the lights, and characters and the music! The song, "Baroque Hoedown" is actually now the ringtone on my phone! And my kids start giggling and dancing whenever my phone rings.

After the parade we grabbed a spot on Main Street in front of Caseys to watch the castle projection show, which was so cool!

and then&

Wishes!

There is something so magical about watching fireworks go off around Cinderellas castle.

My Sleeping Beauties&

who missed the whole thing.

Donovan and Bronwyn were still awake and Donovan was asking about getting more SOTMK cards. So my mom and I stopped into the Confectionery for a few treats while Joe took Donovan over to the Firehouse to pick up a new pack of cards. And Joes parents headed back to WL for the night.
On our way out, we saw that they were setting up the ropes for the 10pm MSEP. I was almost tempted to stay for that one! But we said our goodbyes to my mom and Donovan, who was going to spend the night at her resort. By now the crowds were gone and we hopped right onto the monorail and headed back to the Poly for the night.

Wow so jealous you got one of her bags. I love them. Cant believe she hand appliques all those...I seriously want to "steal" uhmm I mean borrow her Donald Duck bag :)

I had the same apprehension on the Nemo show but loved it too...so glad Im not the only one who thinks like that.

And you have the right to have a melt-down. Those of us who do all the planning and whatnot sometimes just have to have a teary all out cry fest then we are on with the trip again.

Looks like such a great time you guys are having. Thanks for the info on the hats...they are sooo adorable.

PS wanted to add that I am so jealous of your photo skills. Awesome. Got my DH his first DSLR this year for Christmas. Im hoping he can figure it all out by the time we go in Sept.
