Beware the Path to Frontierland!

Yup, sounds like the perfect solution to me! Especially if you are leaving the park... ride right around to the front of the park.

As far as the ecv us stroller vs people from Texas thing, there but for the grace of God.....

I'm not sure if this works or not - we were trying to go to Frontierland this past week from toontown, and we had to wait 15 minutes (for the parade to get out of the way)

If you start in Frontierland and want to go anywhere else (Mainstreet, for example) you wouldn't have that problem if the parade was either not started yet or already past the tracks in Frontierland as the tracks and the parade route don't cross anywhere else in the park.

Does the train run during the parade? I'm thinking that it doesn't...but maybe I am remembering Disney Land and not Disney World...:scratchin

Hopefully someone will chime in!

Yikes that is scary. I'm glad everyone is ok. We always wait until the crowds thin before trying to leave for just that reason, or leave earlier. :( One too many bad experiences with crowd control/pushing/rude guests. Also, when you get a claustrophobic person in those conditions, it's way too easy to start a panic. I was in that situation once where one person caused chaos and a lot of people got hurt.

We had a similar experience in the same spot. It was seriously scary. I was amazed how many people were stepping over the stroller with my sleeping 3yr old inside (I mean right over her body and head) and using the stroller to stand on to try to get just one step further ahead.

We've watched the parade from both Frontierland and Main Street. It is so much easier to exit the park from Main Street. Find a good seat on the curb at least an hour before the parade begins.

As Spectro exits the park (near Splash Mtn.) it crosses the RR tracks.

They stop the trains as Spectro nears Frontierland.
They can't start up again until the last parade entry has exited the park and
passed over the tracks.
(You can see how the "backstage" route of the parade passes over the RR tracks
on my map (linked below.) Look carefully along the upper red line to see the tracks.

Depending on the date, the trains might not start running again after Spectro.

A look at the MK Parade Route.
SpectroMagic starts at Town Square and exits at the end of Frontierland.

So Sorry :scared1:....I think you should let Disney know about this experience maybe they should be monitoring the crowd level there during parades! That is NOT good....and hopefully someone complained that night but please atleast make Disney aware so they can try and take precautions ;)

When we were there at Christmas there were a couple CM's along the path with those flashing light sticks (I'm sure there is a better name for them lol) and they were trying to direct people the best they could. They encouraged people along the stone-wall path and the wooden walkway to keep moving but a lot of people ignored the poor CM's and stopped to watch the parade. So the people in the back just kept pushing forward while the people in front were blocked by people who had stopped to watch the parade. It seems like Disney does know about the problem and has tried crowd control measures but some in the crowd just weren't paying attention.

"I wish they would ban them and make people use a wheel chair."

Who is going to push that wheelchair around? Maybe we should ban all the strollers too. And the walkers/runners that push their way through the crowd and step in front of the carts and on babies in strollers.

OR.... maybe we could just be tolerant of one another, realize that everyone is hot and crowded and slow down. A little compassion goes a long way.

How does banning a electronic scooters from the park even compare to a stroller you push with your hands? I am just curious on your evaluation of such a comparison.

My point was originally, by banning these electronic scooters we can reduce folks from running into my family. We have personally experience this and no I was not very tolerant. I pay my money to the parks just the same as they do so why do they get the right to run over my family?

Just my humble opinion.

We got stuck on this path too with a stroller. Horrible horrible experience. My kids are 5, 3 and 1. We had to lift the stroller up at one point. It was terrible people were pushing and shoving, they didn't seem to care about how small the kids were. We lifted the 2 younger ones and folded the stroller but my 5 year old was just holding dads hand. One woman kept shoving me (while I was holding the baby) and I am yelling stop pushing stop pushing. Finally I said push again and I will push back. Never ever again will we go near that during a parade. It was actually dangerous.

I've been on that path with my scooter and it fit just fine, but if a bunch of people had parked strollers there then it would be a tight fit.

As an aside - why is it that the scooters don't fit - but the strollers do?

My thoughts exactly. My mother has been in a scooter and used that path with no problem as well.

Well said! :) If I have to make my husband push me in a wheelchair we will not get to go. And I can't push myself because of arthritis. So it's ECV or stay home, and I choose ECV.

If I really had a choice it would be to wake up with no arthritis and be able to walk all day there, but I don't think that's gonna happen. However...you can be assured that if you see someone on an ECV honking their horn, trying to push through the crowd, or telling people to move, that's NOT ME. I patiently wait at the edge until it is thinned out. I also wait in the back when the bus lines are full and wait for the next bus. Most of us who are stuck on these scooters are aware that the presence of our ECV can be an inconvenience for others and try to be as considerate as possible. There are always some bad apples as with everything.

Half the crowd problems i notice personally as an eye witness involve those stupid scooter things. I wish they would ban them and make people use a wheel chair.

I do agree with you to an extent! I don think it is reasonable to ban scooters but I do think there should be some rules when using them.
Our last trip we saw an entire family on scooters at DHS and they must have had Tim the tool man beef them up because I didnt even realize they could go so fast!! They were flying and honking their horns at people to get out of their way and when they didnt move fast enough they became verbal!!! The lady had a young child on her lap and one sitting on back, the man was on his alone and there was a grandmother on another..
I understand that some people really do need to use them and that they are way more convenient then a wheel chair but the very least they could do is be patient but then again I can say the same about people in general on a scooter or feet people just tend to forget that they are not the only ones there to have a good time!

Again, these are not the normal ECV users. Most of us would not dream of acting like that (and wow, what a waste of money to rent them for the whole family. I'd rather have souvenirs!)

However, the people that have literally climbed over me and my ECV to get in front of me for parades when I had waited an hour before, and pushed in front of me for shows like Myuki so that I could no longer see...they forgot *I* was also there to have a good time. So you see, it works both ways.

Hi Texas Rob.

I believe there is a direct correlation between strollers and ECV's. When I was able to walk the World a few years ago, I can guarantee I got my Achilles tendon bloodied more than once by strollers-especially the hard to push double ones. I was never assaulted by an ECV.

Now my husband and I both use one at the parks-he rents one there and I rent one at our resort. We could not go without them.

That said, we also go with our daughter's family which includes a child in a stroller. We have had extreme rudeness from walkers/runners in running into the strollers as they push by. There has also been a problem with smokers getting their cigarettes to close to the baby.

And yes, we speak up when the smoking thing happens. And we will speak up when someone is pushing by. More often than not the stroller pushers give a sincere apology and all is done. We have occasionally bumped someone who has stopped suddenly and we are always sincerely apologetic.

Everyone has their own set of circumstances, and we just have to be as tolerant as we can. Also people should Thank God that they are able to run/walk on their own. It is usually the walkers/runners that cut the "vehicles" off.

The person in the cart that honked and raced through was totally in the wrong. I often pull over to let people around and have trouble getting back in the mainstream of traffic.

I HATE taking the cart on the buses and refuse to displace anyone who is already sitting. I have never had anyone (except 1 rude driver) respond rudely to me. People have been great even though I'm sure they are totally annoyed to have to wait for the loading.

And the counter point to your point is that without an ECV many people would not get to experience WDW at all. Some are not strong enough for a manual wheelchair and don't have anyone to push them. I use an ECV due to medical issues. My husband could push me but then he'd be tired and sore. We pay our money too.

As for having an ECV equiling the right to run people over - not even close. People on ECVs should not run over people. And people running at rope drop to get a FP should not run over people. And people with strollers shoud not use them as battering rams. However, occationally, people in all of these groups do.

Could you explain to me why ECVs should be banned while these other groups shouldn't? Or would tolerance be a better solution?

Folks we are not going to turn this into an ECV debate again. The op was talking about a problem exiting Frontierland and the narrowness of the path. This thread will be closed if we continue to argue over ECV usage.
