Beware of L&M Rental car

Rented a car in Dec 2004 from L&M. Once it was returned, the paperwork was signed by both parties stating everything was good on both sides. About 2 weeks later, we got a bill for $700 to replace the windshield of a KIA. Beware, the paperwork alone may not be enough to save you from being ripped off by the rental car company. Don't rent from L&M in Orlando.

If you have paperwork stating all was well with the car, I'd certainly fight the charge with my credit card company.

WOW! DH noticed them when we were last in MCO and asked who they were. I told him that I've seen them mentioned on the DIS.

Good luck in getting this cleared up and thanks for the warning. I've moved this to the Transportation Board where it will get more attention.

Last time I was there they tried to charge me more than what had been the agreed amount on Orbitz....

I had heard that they try to charge more, but I've rented from them twice now and it's been the same amount. I had also heard that they make you buy the insurance unless you bring proof of your own insurance, but so far they've never asked (and their ins. salespitch has been very low key). Both times I've been really happy with them. I was leery of using them for a long time due to posts, but now I really like them. Both times we got brand new cars, too (one had less than ten miles on it). But the weird thing is, they never give us the key fob for the car. I like the fob because it's so much easier to lock/unlock the vehicle remotely.

We got in last night from WDW and used L&M for the second time. I had no pressure to buy the extra insurance, just one simple question if I wanted it and no hassle when I declined. They also did not ask for proof of insurance. Not as high tech as the other agencies onsite, but I'd use them again. We did have the key fob each time, but our vehicles both times had 10,000 to 12,000 miles on them. The vehicles (Mitsubishi Galant and Ford Taurus) were fine though.
