Beware of Delta flight changes- this is crazy

Knowing that Delta is notorious for changing flight times I have been checking my itinerary often. Sure enough, instead of flying from boise to atlanta to orlando, i now fly from boise to salt lake city to atlanta to orlando. BUT THE CRAZY THING IS- MY CONNECTING FLIGHT TO ORLANDO LEAVES 10 MINUTES BEFORE I AM NOW EVEN SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE IN ATLANTA!!!! I will definately be calling them. How crazy is that?

Our trip this past May before they even filed they had changed my flight times several times in 2 months and each time they took away my seat assignment. I had to call each time to get new seats... very strange and worse my connecting flight in Atlanta at 5am would leave in 20 minutes after we arrived from Las Vegas and we'd never make it so they transfered us over to Song and I have to tell ya.. I loved it.

Good Luck with Delta... since the filing they have been getting a little crazy.

All of these posts about Delta changing flights has me a bit nervous about our upcoming trip! :bitelip:

Should I have picked a flight that doesn't connect in Atlanta... :confused3

Well, it's too late now...I booked thru Expedia.

Keep your fingers crossed for me! ;)

All the airlines change their schedules. I try my best to book flts. that do not have connections, not always possible. I'm lucky enough to live close to 2 airports Cinn. & Day. and both offer non-stop flts. to MCO. You sometimes pay more for non-stop, but I would rather have one flt. It's better too, if your checking luggage.

Atlanta is Delta's Hub (and a very efficient airport) its hard to avoid it many times.

Many, if not all airlines change their flight times. Many do not notify you. I had an airline, PanAm out of Portsmouth, NH, cancel my flight. If I hadn't been watching the news one night, I wouldn't have found out until 2 weeks before my trip when the notice arrived in the mail. I fly Delta when I can and actually prefer it even with the bad rap it seems to be getting. The only time I've had problems was last January and the problems all were concerning CVG. They just couldn't get their act together it seemed. If you call them, they will work everything out. Remember that you can often catch more flies with honey than vinegar and that the person you speak with is not the one who made the flight changes. :)

Cheers!

Delta (and just about everyone else) uses an automated rebooking system that can do some weird things. I believe it "sees" the first connection and makes sure it works but doesn't read the second connection. That's where the problem lies. Hopefully one day they can find a solution to that problem. I've seen it happen quite frquently when talking to other frequent travelers.

I hope you get satifactory resolution. Please let us know how it turns out.

Remember the old adage: When you die, it doesn't matter if you're going to heaven or the other place; you're going to change planes in Atlanta!

Delta is not the only airline that changes or even cancels flights. Every airline does this today. The more in advance you book tickets, the more likely it is that the flight schedule will change.

I know this is true, but Delta is the only I've flown that have changed flights on me.

Of course, I only fly Delta, Jet Blue and Southwest.

There you go. The other two, JetBlue and Southwest, don't let you book flights earlier than the publication of their final schedule, while Delta allows you to book flights 11 months prior.

Now if only there was a way to designate at the time of original booking a second choice flight without paying twice the fare (aka make a backup reservation). A lot of folks would be very happy with that despite all the schedule changes.

Ok I called Delta and they were very nice. She also laughed at how i was scheduled to make a 3:50 connection when my flight wouldnt even arrive until 4pm. She was actually able to book me a direct flight into orlando from slc that arrives an hour BEFORE my original itinerary.Yeah!

I laughed and said I wished she could fix my flight home. We are flying on freq flier tix so we have a bear of a trip home with 2 four hour layovers starting at 7am. she said not to worry that the flight was practically empty on the first leg of the trip and it would probably be cancelled. LOL! She said just to keep watching my itinerary.
