I have a question about air fare. We will be going down from MSP 11/17 to 11/24, all air fare sales count these days out. Should I buy now or do you think these days will open up? Any thoughts would be great!

I have never seen discounts over Thanksgiving--why would they? They are almost always overbooked! On top of that, the prices will only go up as the planes get fuller and fuller.

Sometimes 11/24 will open up, but a lot depends on demand. If the Sunday after Thanksgiving is selling well then they will not have to open up that day. Personally, I have booked my Thanksgiving travel now. I have not had a lot of sucess with that time going down and I travel on the Saturday after Thanksgiving every other year so...

I'd book airfare now - I don't think fares out of MSP will go down much, if at all for the dates you mentioned. I booked our late November to Early December trip several months ago when I saw convenient non-stop flights at $226.50. Those same flights are now going for more than $400.

I put your dates in the www.itasoftware.com site and the best price was $ 340 per seat and that was on AirTran with long layovers. It appears that Sun Country is sold out for those dates as it wasn't even listed as an option.

If you could go Friday to Friday (11/16 - 11/23) instead, you could get non-stop flights on NWA for $241 each. IMHO, this is a good price for non-stop out of MSP, especially considering the proximity to Thanksgiving. The best non-stop on NWA that I have seen for this fall was $211. (Delta has some flights listed for $209 each but these come with long layovers in Atlanta). Sun Country wants $411 for Friday to Friday. I suspect that is because those flights are filling to their satisfaction.
