OK, so yesterday was T-60 so I checked in for our August BLT stay (LV, dedicated 2-BR). No problem, worked fine, and it goes through Disney website not the DVC site like it used to, but of course when you get to room requests, there is only a few boxes to check like ground floor or high floor, near skyway, etc. No fields to add comments are actual requests like even-number room or even an actual room number.

So I call MS to just save time and ask...what do we do? Do we wait to 10 days out and do the DVC check in? The answer: NO. After the 60 day check in there is nothing else. The 10 day check in is only for a few resorts like Aulani and some others, not BLT. Is that all your understanding as well???:confused3

So she took down my request for a high floor, even number, with a preference for XX02. She said this is the only way to make the request. She did not give me a great deal of confidence at all that it had any chance. How else have any of you made requests at BLT especially?

The on-line check-in system was designed for Disney in general reservations. DVC was added to that system but the requests boxes do not cover DVC requests. To assure the possibility of getting a request, you need to make the request through MS, like you have now done. That gives you the chance of getting it.

Online check in doesn't really do much for DVC stays. Another process that DVC is forced to offer because Disney Resorts uses it.

It is designed to save Disney money by allowing them to use less CM's, it gets guests to commit to their stay 60 days out, and it can speed up the check in process at the larger convention resorts or resorts with groups of people all checking in at the same time.

Think about it, checking in 60 days before arrival, why?

When you have such a specific request you have to call MS and have them note it on your reservation. I guess Disney doesn't want to encourage such specific requests by providing a place to note them during online check-in because very few such requests would ever be met, leading to guest dissatisfaction (and sometimes guests screaming at the front desk).

Remember a request is only a request and one as specific as "XX02" is unlikely to be met. On our recent stay at BLT I requested "high floor, even-numbered room". I got a high floor but an odd-numbered room. We had a great view of the lake, the boat dock and Epcot's Illuminations. When we wanted to see Wishes we went up to the lounge and watched from there. Half of the rooms are on the inside of the "C" so you are as likely as not to end up with an odd-numbered room no matter what you request.

I hope you have a great stay, no matter where you end up!
