Hi all,

Have a friend coming down with us in April with her 2 year old. We're staying at BWV, and she and I are planning to go out for drinks one evening (with appetizers or dessert) while her husband watches the little guy. We want to be w/in walking distance, and she is a wine drinker, and would like a nice wine list. In any case, what is your opinion on best place to do that ? I've been to bluezoo and Flying Fish for dinner. Are those the best options (can't remember the bars there) or is there another lounge/restaurant I should look at?

Thanks!

I would consider the Crew's Cup Lounge over near the Yachtsman Steakhouse.
I don't know the extent of the wine list, but because the restaurant is very upscale I assume it's fairly extensive.

Have fun!... :drinking:

I would forget about walking distance, and would take a cab over to the California Grill at the Contemporary. Best wine list on property, in my opinion. Food is great. The lounge area is ideal for appetizers or dessert (if you can get a table). Perfect Disney view. Catch a cab back to BWV when you finish.

We dads can survive 3 hours or so with a 2 year old.

Someone mentioned California Grill & they do have a good CA wine list.

You might also consider AKL's Jiko, they have a very good & pretty extensive African wine list.

I also have had some tasty red at the Morroccan restaraunt, Marrakesh. :) But I don't think they have the selection available at Cali Grill or Jiko.

Thanks everyone! Great suggestions :) We love the California Grill so may be going there for dinner in addition!

Le Cellier has "ice wine". It is more of a dessert wine. I love it, however I am not too crazy about the price...$15.00 a glass! Oh well! Cheers...can't take it with you! I am lookig forward to another glass in Oct!
However they also have a nice wine selection for dinner as well from the Canadian Vinyards.

Flying Fish has a nice wine list and is just a stroll from BWV. I can't recall whether there is a separate seating area at the bar though.
The problem with California Grill aside from going all the way up there is that if it is a busy night, the lounge is a zoo. Very noisy.
If you are considering going that far, try the lounge in the Wilderness Lodge...great selection of wines of the Pacific Northwest.

The Flying Fish does have a bar area where you can sit. It's really for diners, but since they are ordering appetizers I'm sure they could sit and have a few glasses of wine. I think Flying Fish has all the wines that California Grill does. They also have the same cheese plate.

Maybe things have changed, but I've not found Flying Fish to have nearly as good of a wine list as Cal Grill. I've always found a hidden jewel or two on Cal Grill's reserved list. Not nearly the same luck at FF. The lounge can be a bit loud, but I find it half the fun. Two ladies out on the "town" probably deserve a bit of craziness. You could also try to make reservations at their sushi bar, which isn't as crazy as the lounge can be, and not as formal as a dinner table.

As you can tell, I'm partial to Cal Grill. Certainly can't beat the view.

This doesn't answer the question but I thought that I might mention it. Epcot has several wines available at the World Showcase shops and the wine tasting at many of them. I bought my mother a bottle of wine and had the front desk give it to her at her check-in (she arrived 3 days after us). It was nice to have a glass in the villa after a long day :)

If you go to Territory Lounge or Artist Point I recommend the Kiona wine. It was a suggestion from the bartender and it was an excellent red. I even searched for it on the internet and bought a few bottles when we got home.
