Me and my family are going to Orlando on the 4th of August till the 18th and are staying at Best Western Lakeside. Has anyone ever stayed here and could tell me what it is like?

Haven't stayed here but some friends did a couple of years ago, they enjoyed the stay, no real problems.
Spacious rooms/3 pools/children's playground.

It is highly rated on TripAdvisor and looks a nice hotel.

As you can see below we have stayed here a few times under different owners, Sheraton Four Points, La Quinta Lakeside and Best Western Lakeside.
Will probably be staying there again for Xmas and New Year as I can get it for £24/ night incl tax.
For an economy hotel it has everything you will need. Most rooms had had a refit by last Xmas, also one of the pools was closed for work. Would expect all work to be done now.
In room you have Fridge, coffee maker, safe and aircon.
Free wireless internet in Lobby if you are taking laptop, Their website says also in some rooms but when I asked they said they didn't. Maybe they have now.
Small crazy golf, not brilliant but its free.
Remember to use Sherberth Rd to Disney, it can save you a lot of queing on the 192.
Have you booked thu Virgin or Independant? If with Virgin kids get free soft drinks from the shop in a cup they are given at check in. (or they did last year)
Thats all I can think of now. Please do not hessitate to ask anything about this hotel or anything else about your trip, either on here or PM.
We were almost there with you but decided to go to Courtyard by Marriott LBV instead. We go 3rd-28th Aug

This is where we stayed last week. The 2nd pool was still closed, but the location and rooms are spot on.The on site shop is great for a late night cuppa! They also have on site pizza hut which can be delivered to your room. They also sell little pre filled cereal bowls, very handy for an early morning start in the parks. We bought these when we had an late a.m breakfast booked.
There is also a Wallgreens chemist in the grounds(24 hour). They sell groceries and have a photo shop.Only $2.99 to have your digitals put on a cd.

You will need a car if you stay here though, free transport not up to much.

Definitely, plus although restaurants are within easy reach it is situated on a very busy main road.

Emma PM'd me yesterday, they are not hiring a car just relying on the bus and taxi's. Anyone know how much a taxi would cost to Magic Kingdom for example?

We never taxi'd but I remember a family that did, and the cost was ridiculous. It would be cheaper to get a resort bus back to AKL & taxi it from there. If I remember rightly, if you pick up a taxi at the park, you automatically pay more as it has to pay some sort of car park fee.
