Hi!

My DH would like to rent tuxedos for himself and our DS13. He read somewhere that there's a company that delivers the tuxedos to the ship and it's much cheaper to rent through these people than through Disney. They pick up at the ship also. I know, that sounds too good to be true doesn't it?! I'm just going by what my DH told me.

I'm sure it costs a small fortune to rent tuxes on the ship, but we won't be able to take them from home since we'll be gone for 10 days (3 days WDW & 7 day cruise).

Can anyone tell me how much DCL charges for tuxedo rentals? Also, does anyone know if this tuxedo delivery company really exists?

Thanks for your time!
;)

Disney doesn't rent tuxedos... they contract with a company called Cruiseline Formalwear (www.cruiselineformal.com). This is the company that delivers the tuxedos to the ship. You have to order your tuxedo in advance, and it is easy to do so on their web site.

Thanks Dave!

You've come to my rescue again!! You are truly the BEST!!! I'm so glad I asked about this or we would've been out of luck. This is our 3rd DCL cruise and my DH thought it'd be neat for him and our DS13 to rent tuxes this time. I can't believe he wants to wear a tux since he hates suits of any sort!! I think it will make the night even more special and I can't wait to see my guys all dressed up!!!

:earsgirl:

I have to admit that I love to dress up - not the same with my family or the family we cruised with. On the April cruise we took, I wore dresses I would feel comfortable with at a formal wedding and felt over dressed compared to 80% of the rest of the cruisers. I am not condoning their actions - just telling the truth. If you don't want to spend the money and/or the kids are dreading the tuxes - send the hubby in a nice dark suit jacket and let the kids do the same or order room service for the kids that night. I am glad I did not drag along a floor length dress.

I bought my husband and sons tuxes at EBAY last year for far less than renting them.

Although my sons tux will probably not fit him for next month, I will probably be able to pick one up at a local thrift store.

Do you know how many people buy tuxes for Wing Bearers for weddings for 4 year olds only to get rid of it after one wearing? LOTS - I see tuxes all the time at local thrift stores.

Check them out, may have one for son and husband. Then just get new tux shirts at a local tux shop!

Then you can just sell your sons tux on ebay and make some money back!

I rented from a local shop and they gave me a pretty good deal, and only charged for a one week rental versus twelve days. It was also less expensive than going through the provider on the ship.

We also bought tuxes through eBay. For DH I purhcased a beautiful Ralph Lauren Chaps tux for $41 plus $10 shipping! For my father we got a non-designer tux, that is also in terrific shape, for $39 plus $10 shipping. We also were able to pick up cummerbunds and bow ties inexpensively.

DS7 was Jiminy Cricket in this year's dance recital and has the tail-coat I bought him on eBay. I bought him a regular pair of black pants and he's all set. He'll outgrow this at some point but he'll definitely have it for the cruise.

So, for less than the cost of renting each tux we now own them. I'd highly recommend it.

We rented from Cruise Line Formals as we were going to WDW first and did not want to risk renting locally and dragging it everywhere. The tux was great, my husband was happy and they were comparable in price to what he would have paid here.

Thanks Lynn! I feel much better now. I don't have time to buy from ebay and it'd be nice not to have to lug the tuxes from home. We need all the suitcase space we can get!!!

Thanks to everyone for your advice and big thanks to Dave for the website!
