Best way to get from MCO to Cape Canaveral?

Hi. I have a land/sea trip booked with the cruise part first. We'll be flying in to MCO the morning of departure and I'm wondering what the best/cheapest way is to get to the port. I already have a rental booked from the National at the port to the car care center, but I'm waffling over renting a car for the couple of hours it will take to drive to the port v. buying the transfers. My TA said the transfers were "$40" but didn't say whether that was per person or for the two of us, and hasn't answered any of my emails since then. The cheapest I can find for a MCO-Cape rental is about $40 with Thrifty.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated!
