Hi DISers,
I promised my son that the next time we visited WDW, we could go to a water park. Well, we are planning a trip for May, right after he turns 6. He's a good swimmer, but he is still young and won't do things that are scary (i.e. he won't like a fully-enclosed tube waterslide because it's too dark inside). So we want to go to a park that has ample things for him to do. With that in mind, which WDW water park would you recommend, TL or BB? By the way, he is tall for his age (already 48+") so height requirements shouldn't be an issue. Thanks!
Jen

My son is 6 and his favorite is Blizzard Beach. They have a great kids area with slides for them, he has a blast!

I agree with Blizzard Beach. At his age he can ride all but Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher, and Downhill Double Dipper. All have a 48" height limit. There are plenty of other rides and attractions there. The wave pool is much more manageable. At TL the wave pool is rough, and people get knocked down and scraped at the bottom all the time. My kids were older when they could handle that wave pool on their own. Now at 11 and 14 they love it, but I personally feel a little is older is better for that one. Others may completely disagree. Our big draw for TL is the water coaster, Crushin Gusher.

TL has slushn gusher which you can ride the tube with him and is great. But BB has the 'teen' area with a lot of stuff to do, zipline, icebergs, etc. I would show the rides on the website, let him see both parks and let him pick. I think you'll have fun at either.

Slushin Gusher is at BB, it's a body slide

Crushin Gusher is a tube ride/water coaster at TL

My 6 year old has more to do at BB, but did like TL a lot too. Crushin Gusher (at TL) is our 2nd favorite ride in all of Disney :)

Thank you I always get those names mixed up. :)
I meant Crushin Gusher.

Blizzard Beach - my 6 and 8 year old have been a few times and they prefer it over the actual 4 main parks...

IMO TL would be more fun. The best thing in either of the water parks is the wave pool. If you're "little" guy is already 48 inches he can handle and will probably love the wave pool. You just might need to stand a little ways back where the waves aren't quite as tall. :hyper:

Best advice I ever heard regarding the "which waterpark" question: go to whichever one's bus shows up first. :)

We just got back, and we went to BB for a few hours late afternoon. My son was ultimately too scared to go on any of the main slides, but he loved the big kid play area (ski school), with the floating icebergs and smaller slides. It was ideal. We got the waterparks option on our park hopper passes, so the cost was minimal, and the 2 1/2 hour timeframe we spent there was perfect for him to get some energy out without getting too wound up. We'll definitely go back!
