If I go through the Dreams Unlimited dreamsres system you have a room category to choose. It does not define them, however. What is your view if you choose standard .......lake ...........or resort?

All I can suggest is: I stayed in Room 8029...that's 8th floor, room 29. It is a resort view with balcony. Heavenly. NOW, there ARE rooms without WITHOUT balconies every other room - so if you don't want to spring for a balcony room (and IT"S SO WORTH IT!!!) get a room there.

You see Illuminations every night at 9p.m. - couldn't be a better view sitting out there on the balcony - the Epcot ball is right there....the Boardwalk is just over to the right and to the left you see the Yacht and Beachclub...

I suggest staying at the Dolphin instead of the Swan...when I was there in March they came to measure the room - so renovations may have happened by now - I don't know.....
I am a picky b---- - and I was very anxious about the rumors that the place needed renovated - but it really was nice there - hey, I have travelled all over - and I don't recall when I relaxed more -

It MAY have had alot to do with that balcony and view - (loved the slide and the hammocks on the beach) AND I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed having club level privs due to my Gold status with Starwood because I got that Starwood American Express card and called to be upgraded to gold status....(I had to call twice to get someone to do it!) Oh, they tried to "upgrade" me to club level - but the better idea is keep the balcony and just get club privs so you go up to get your free breakfast and free food from 5-7 p.m......saved us so much money and it was just convenient.

I hadn't wanted to pay for the balcony room - but make sure you either try for special rates OR do what we did and use the Entertainment rate.....also, keep checking the rates up until your trip because the rates kept going down.......... :Pinkbounc
It went down about $30 in the last week so don't lose hope...and when you are worrying about how much things cost, remember how much you'll save by getting those club privs. Oh, please note: there was some paperwork there that said that the resort fee is waived for people on club level. While I had club privs I was still in my balcony room and did call down to have the fees removed and there was no problem. We were there for 10 days and removing those fees saved...$100.

good luck

View info/ Balcony info
Lake View rooms are mostly between the "fingers" of the building, with view of Crescent lake area, but a limited view due to the building. The Resort view rooms are more of a "wide open" view, with the possibility of view of the white sandy beach area, pools, or even Epcot. Standard rooms we describe as "non designated view", and most are on the wooded side or parking lot areas. The Swan "standard views" tend to have a bit better view (MGM ,TOT)than the Dolphin due to location. Front of either hotel is "Standard" views. Hope this helps people a little more!

Balcony rooms tend to be on the fingers or wings of each resort and in rooms facing the other resort. Balconies have two chairs and a small table. Balcony rooms 3rd floor and below tend to have balcony rooms right next to each other. Rooms over the 3rd floor alternate room with a balcony and room w/o.
