I need help!! My very good friend is going to Disney in May and is a vegetarian, can you recommend a good restaurant that has yummy vegetarian options??? It is also her bday!! Thanks everyone:banana:

If cost is no object, nothing beats Victoria & Albert's. They have a dedicated vegetarian menu option and it is spectacular. Although I am not a vegetarian, I will order courses from V&A's veg menu. For A LOT less money, I think Boma is a great option. Although I haven't eaten there yet (2 more weeks!), it looks like Kouzinna by Cat Cora has some good vegetarian options, especially among the starters and sides.

Boma! I love this place. I have found Boma to be very vegetarian friendly. I have never left this restaurant hungry. There are always plenty of items for me to try. Plus they have a great dessert setup as well.:thumbsup2

I hope your friend has an amazing trip!:)

Boma and Tusker House both have a lot of meatless options, especially if she likes ethnic food. The samosas with fresh mango salsa at Tusker House were the best thing I ate on our last trip.

Definitely Boma and Tusker House. I am not a vegetarian but eat very health consciously which includes a lot of veggies and both have plenty of choices.

To be hones though most places will have vegetarian options or will alter dishes to make them so. Some other options are The Wave and Restaurant Marrakesh.

While we didn't leave the restaurant hungry, we did leave somewhat disappointed. It isn't categorically a bad restaurant for vegetarians -- it is just that most other restaurants we visited were better for us. YMMV.

Tusker House is a great example of what I mentioned above... a restaurant that we left stuffed, because there was just so many great choices for us.

The Wave was fantastic, in just about every way. I think it is the most underrated restaurant at WDW.

Others:
Sanaa - Disappointing food-wise
Tutto Italia - Very disappointing food-wise
Jiko - Excellent, in every way, as you'd expect
Brown Derby - Very good overall
Rose and Crown - A bit limited, but good
Yak & Yeti - Disappointing choice-wise

'Ohana (in the Polynesian) has a phenomenal multi-course vegetarian menu! It's the same price as the non-vegetarian meals (about $30/person) & it was one of our favorite meals during our Dec. 2009 trip.

My understanding is this is really variable--some nights it's amazing, some nights it's eh, depending on which chef is on and how busy he is and what he feels like doing.

What about SAnnaaa?
Well, let's say it was 37½% good. We sampled a bunch of things, and most of them were pretty bland, as far as we were concerned. A few things were really really good, but the rest, blah.

If she's looking for some CS options try Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion in Epcot's Future World, and Tangierine Cafe in Morocco in Epcot's World Showcase.

Every TS has a Veggie option. Every park has at least one CS option. Most have more. Slim pickings for CS at AK and whatever they call MGM now.

My husband's favorite meal last year was at Flying Fish where they did an awesome off veggie menu plate for him.

I would suggest checking the menus, because not all vegetarians like the same stuff.

Crystal Palace, Boma, and Tusker house are all excellent vegetarian friendly buffets. As long as they do milk and eggs. Vegan I am less sure of.

Thanks guys!! I really appreciate it!! I really want to find the best place for her, she is celebrating her bday and also going thru her chemo and radiation treatment for breast cancer.

I am going the same time too. I am trying to think of something special to do for her..HMMMM

My hubby is also vegetarian. We have done Disney twice together and his favorite place to eat was Boma. We just booked a surprise (to all of us) trip in a month and Boma was the first ADR that I made. It was a must to all of us. Also make sure to note this on reservations and tell your server. At Boma and other places the chef will come out and talk with guests/show items that are good to go and help to accomodate.

Huggiebear, you may want to check out the vegetarian/vegan dining reviews from DISsers below for more info & pics. I've found them to be REALLY helpful:

IMHO, this can often be said for most of Disney's restaurants. I think Chef TJ is off on Sat & Sun nights, but I'm pretty sure that he's there for the rest of the week. We loved everything that he brought out & my carnivore mom couldn't get enough of the steak & shrimp.

I hope it's amazing when we go in a few weeks. I made our ADR there based on amazing veg reviews of his cooking!

I would go with Boma. Since you're picking a restaurant for someone else, I think a buffet would have the best chance of pleasing your friend.

As others have said, most restaurants will make some vegetarian option available. The problem is - there is generally only one option. SO, if that option doesn't float her boat, there won't be much in the way of alternatives.

Boma will give her a lot of options to try. Lots of vegetables, salads, side dishes, soups, hummuses, and lots of desserts! If you make a dusk-time dinner, you can view the animals on the savanna, making the meal more special.

I am vegetarian and I ADORED Boma. My carnivore husband loved it as well. There were plenty of interesting meaty options for him. My picky, picky daughter loved it too. There's really something for everyone.

My DD is a vegetarian (see my signature ;)) so we are always on the look-out for vegetarian meals for her. We happened to like the option at Yak & Yeti (the TS meal) because they allowed us to pay extra for tofu. We also liked the fancy mac n cheese at Chef's de France. It was to DIE for! It came on the prix fixe lunch menu along with french onion soup and a dessert.
