Best TS kids meals on DDP?

We went last year and used the dining plan before the menu changes and our kids really enjoyed their meals and the very cool desserts, too. We are only planning on doing it for four days this year and are trying to include restaurants they would enjoy.

We have Coral Reef, Akershus Princess dinner (which we did last year), Spoodles for convenience (staying at BWV) and Kona Cafe (someplace I have always wanted to go).

I have read the menus on All Ears and they don't sound too great, for the kids I mean. If anyone can tell me about your experiences at any of these restaurants...or suggest others, I would really appreciate that. Do the restaurants I have chosen allow any substitutions or is it very strict? Do they offer any special desserts, like the make your own ice cream sundae (one of the highlights of their dining experience last year).

My kids are 7 and 4 and enjoy trying new things, but also like the basics sometimes, like pasta & meatballs, pizza, chicken fingers, etc.

TIA,

Jacqueline

From the dining reviews on here from recent WDW visitors with kids, it seems that MOST TS restaurants have either fruit salad and "make your own sundae" for dessert choices.

As far as entree selections, Spoodles has "beef kabobs" for kids and the Norway restaurant has pasta and meatballs.

Maybe try O'Hana instead of Kona for something more fun for your kids? They are served what the adults are served (family style), but also have options for kids entrees! The best of both worlds. :yay:

Do your kids like steak? That's on the kids menu at Concourse Steakhouse and Le Cellier. :woohoo:

The only one I can comment on is the Coral Reef. We just returned a week ago. Coral Reef was one of my children's favorite places. My kids are 11, 8, 6 and 3. The kid's menu is limited but me and DH had so much food ourselves that we could share with them. My 8 yr. old and 3 yr. old ate some of my steak. My DD8 ordered the Mahi Mahi and did not like it at all. I probably should have sent it back and ordered her the mac and cheese. She got a baked potato with her fish and ate all of the potato at least. The dessert was fun (make you own sundae). Honestly, it really isn't about the food here. The view is great and there were diver's who would wave at us and gesture at our food like they wanted a bite. It was very entertaining. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you, I am looking forward to Coral Reef. I think we will all enjoy it. Glad to know that they have the make your own sundaes.

We did try Ohana last year, but while I thought the food was good, I ate very little of it. Because I was up out of my seat watching my kids run around doing the hula and coconut races, it was not a very relaxed meal. Plus the food was coming out so fast, we felt rushed. We will go back again when the kids are a little older.

What about Prime Time Cafe for a 7 and 4 year old? Or do the shenanigans appeal more to the pre-teens? Anyone?

I really like Coral Reef...last year when we went our kids split the Triton's Pasta...BUT...unfortunately when we returned in March - they removed the pasta from the kids menu.

So, my kids got the mac n cheese but it's a very creamy kind - which neither of them ate (even my ds who usually eats just about everything).

Unfortunately, we took that one off our list for our August visit. We love the atmosphere but not the kids meals.

We are, however, doing Tony's Town Square at MK, where, according to allears, speghetti and meatballs is alive and well on the kids menu.

We tried to get Chef Mickeys, CP and Tony's for the day we wanted but all booked up. I think we will definately keep Coral Reef and hope for the best. Thanks for the suggestions.

We will be doing Cape May Cafe breakfast but that will be the day after our DP ends. We are doing a split stay and only getting dining for the first 4 days of our 7 day vacation.
