Tell me the procedure for loading and unloading from the monorail, water launch, or a bus at Disney. Can I roll right on the boat or monorail with a stroller? And can you give me information on the boat ride to MK? What kind of boat? How big? How long is the trip? Any info will be helpful. We just can't picture it because we've never been.

Thanks in advance!

roll right on the monorail and boat (the boat to the mk from the ttc is a large ferry, any other boats you will likely have to fold it).

you will have to fold your stroller and carry it on the buses and parking lot trams.

We have a double stroller for our twins and single stroller for our 5 year old. We have found it to be so much easier to take the ferry to the MK rather than the monorail. We were told to fold up our stroller prior to boarding the monorail. It was a nightmare trying to keep track of the kids and fold up the strollers and carry them all onto the monorail. People seemed very pushy. One morning, we had to wait for three monorails because despite being the first in line, other people blew right past us and filled the monorail. We just couldn't move fast enough because we were trying to juggle everything. So that afternoon on the way back to ttc from MK we took the ferry and it was wonderful. The kids could stay seated in their stroller and we pushed them right on. The ferry can hold quite a few people. The next morning, we took the ferry again from ttc to the MK and Chip and Dale were on the boat. It was a nice little surprise for us. I don't know if this was a special thing because it was around the holidays or if the characters do this often. Hope this helps.

Buses - Federal law requires ALL strollers to be folded at all times.

Trams - Safety regulations require all strollers to be folded at all times.

Monorails - All double strollers must be folded. Single strollers may roll on during non-peak times. During peak times, you may be asked to fold the stroller.

Ferry Boats - Strollers may roll on.

Cruisers (MK and EC) - Strollers may roll on, but may be asked to fold during peak times.

Launches - All strollers must be folded.

What is the difference between a launch and a ferry boat? What is a cruiser? (Sorry so clueless!)

And where do you go to get on these? If we stay at the Poly or Contemporary is it easy to get on? (I will be alone with my two kids some of the time. Will it be impossible?!) Thanks for all the info!

Angie

All the transportation is very easy to access at both the Polynesian and Contemporary. At the CR, you can walk or take the monorail to MK, bus to AK and MGM and Monorial to Epcot. From the Poly you take the monorial or boat to MK and monorial to Epcot and again bus to AK and MGM. You have to have everything out of the stroller and have it folded to board the bus. IMHO a backpack works better than a traditional diaper bag for this reason.

I have travled to WDW as a solo adult with my two dd's for years now and both resorts are excellent choices.

If you care to post more info or ages of kiddos perhaps I can give you more ideas or suggestions.

Ferry is the big huge Staten Island style ferry boat that has two decks, and goes from the TTC to MK and back.

A Cruiser is the medium sized boat with seating on the bow and stern, and enclosed seating in the middle. These boats run from FW to WL to MK

A Launch is the small wooden seat boat that runs from GF to Poly to MK, as well as CR to WL to FW.

I think the various water boats can be described as follows ...

Ferry Boats: Large open space vessels that travel from the MK to TTC. I don't think they run between any other destinations.

Cruisers: Look like "little" ocean liners - enclosed boats that travel between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness to the MK. Don't know if they're used elsewhere ...

Launches: Smaller boats used to carry passengers between destinations on the same body of water (canal, river or lake). Launches run between the CR, FW Campground & WL. Also between the GF, MK & Poly?
