Mid-January is listed with crowd levels of 2 and 3, while the FIRST week of March is listed 6 & 7. We LIKE less crowds, but does it matter that much?

January might have attractions closed and be chilly?? March has Mardi Gras mid-week, but is considered to be "before" spring break starts.

I just can't decide!! Could anyone give me their thoughts on either? Any help would be appreciated!

I live here so I'm a bit partial to Jan. Other posters may or may not agree but I can tell you from living here that Jan (other than MLK weekend) has light crowds (for WDW anyway) and the weather can be chilly yes but usually it's extremely pleasant. A jacket at night is needed and you usually won't find us FL people in shorts then but it's one of my fav times to go to the World.

If it's a crowd issue, then you are better off in Jan but stay away from MLK weekend. Spring break here starts at the beginning of March and flies right through to mid-April.

You might see a slight uptick in crowds during the marathon weekend (Jan 11-12) but since the 12th is my birthday that's not keeping me away! There might be some road closures and resulting traffic issues so if you go mid January expect to spend a little more time going to and from parks.

As a couple who loves to go during the off-peak time, I have to vote January. March can get reeeeaaally busy and loud once the Spring Breakers show up...

Jan. is better than March but also keep in mind Jan is Florida's coldest month so pack accordingly.

there is also a marathon that is always held the second weekend in Jan and the resorts are usually sold out.

Ive gone at both times and have enjoyed each month in its own way! Pros about January: low crowd levels, more relaxing, able to be more spontaneous. Cons about January: the parks close early (usually around 8 or 9), things are usually closed for routine maintenance, and the weather is very unpredictable! Pros about March: later hours, usually nice weather, and EPCOT begins their Flower and Garden Festival within the first week of March (in 2013 it began on March 6th!)! Cons about March: higher crowd levels, and need more structure. I hope this helps! :)
