Best time to go during summer?

Hey there,

I'm having a really hard time figuring out when we might get down to Disney World. If we can only go during summer (school age kids), when would be the best time to go, in terms of crowds and weather? We've got from the May 22 - August 8th.

I'd say go as soon as you possibly can in May. The crowds shouldn't be too bad then as most schools don't get out that early. For the same reason you will be able to get a better deal on a room in May than in June-July, whether you stay onsite or offsite.

Go at the end of May.My son,Erich,(in TN) gets out May 24 but my step son ,Jonathan( in VA), doesn't get out until mid June which it seems more schools are going later these days.

I've been the end of May and mid July the past couple years and I prefer May.The crowds are lighter and weather better...it's still humid but not as likely to have afternoon showers like in the summer months.The High or Peek season when room rates go up throughout the area usually go up in mid June too.

During May and mid June there are some really fun special events taking place at WDW.
Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival ( April 25 to June 8)
MGM's Star Wars weekends (around May 16 to June 15)

I was thinking that too but a little worried about the weekend of Memorial Day. I think we might be able to take off as soon as DS is out of school and leave from Orlando that Saturday, the 29th. Hopefully we'll miss most of holiday weekend crush that way . . .
