We are considering spending a few nights at Vero Beach either before or after a Disney cruise. We have not picked dates yet. For all the Vero Beach lovers-what is your favorite month to visit and why? Any information on water temps, etc would be great!!

Just returned from spending a couple of weeks at the world. I enjoy heading over to Vero for part of the trip as well had a couple of great really warm almost hot days this trip...and at Vero too. The weather for the entire trip was great really! I did have some rain/gray days but only a two or three. It did cool down our last night at Vero. Having only been there in February, I can only advise you I have always been able to get in some quality pool time and walks along the beach each visit. Vero is a must do.
.

Can anyonelse chime in? When is the best time to visit for the sea turtle education hikes and programs? Is the ocean too cold for swimming other than the summer months?

The sea turtles time is in June. I remember being at VB around my sisters birthday, June 22 and the turtles were hatching.

I've had my best time in the water, ocean one May trip! Our family really enjoyed a night walk to see a turtle laying eggs, that was in June, around the 10th. You do need protection from mosquitoes if you do this. Various nature organizations sponsor night walks. They did it with

I do not know if they still sponsor the walks. My family did it in 2008.

We went for the first time to VB this past October and absolutely loved it. The weather was hot, but we had only one really humid day. Rest of the time was just sunny and hot. Loved it! Perfect beach and pool weather.

Traditional tourist season for Vero is the winter months -- with March/April probably being the nicest weather. Water off Vero never gets very cold as it's part of the gulf stream. Disney has made summer popular at Vero -- not traditionally a popular tourist time in Florida outside of Disney World because of the heat. May in Vero is usually very nice. October is also beautiful but you have the threat of hurricanes.

Weather is hot, sunny, ocean temps very warm, no crowds and reservations @ 7 months have always been successful (usually get an OV inn room). Hardly ever rains although still technically hurricane season.

we have gone the last 3 octobers with this past october being the best weather wise...we had a week of perfect weather.....great for swimming. On the two previous trips we had two full days on each trip of thunderstorm's....it can happen anytime and it was only two days however if you were only there for 3 or 4 it would suck!. This past October we got to see two baby turtle hatchlings released and that was super cool. They were left in an abandoned nest and the turtle rescue and research worker dug up the nest and found the two hatchlings. She invited a couple families back that night to see them released. We area total nature nut family so it made our trip.....first trip we got to see anything like it.

We usually go in September after Labor Day. The weather is beautiful and it's rarely crowded. No turtle hatching though!

I have gone in January for 2 years, about a week's stay, and I'll be there next year as well. Yes, May was the nicest time for swimming in the ocean for me, but I love my January stays too!

How is August? I know it's hurricane season, but I'm willing to risk it. :)

I've only been during May and September and we've run into love bugs which made one trip in particular miserable. You couldn't sit on on the balcony, or by the pool, without being attacked. We had the best luck laying on a towel on the beach. Is there a general "timeframe" the love bugs come through?

Hot, really hot. We had a blast two years ago but you had to be in the water at all times. Any activities off the resort we tried to do as early as possible (golf, dolphin tour, swamp boat).

Yes, May and September. LOL.

We just went last August (3rd week) and it was hot, well more like the sun was strong...some of my family got really bad sunburns on day 1 (my DS' nose was horribly burned). There were still turtle nests (we didn't see any hatching though). It stormed every evening for a short bit and we found that going to the pool after the storm was nice as it was empty then. There were many snails that would come out with each rain and since the walkways are kept dark (due to the turtles) the poor snails would get all crunched up...it was kinda gross to walk and feel the snails crunch under your feet (my DDs hated that).

Thank you. We don't mind hot and we all love the water, so I think we'll be good. :thumbsup2

I just booked this morning. I'm so excited to try something new!

Thank you. We're prepared for heat, storms, etc, and excited to go to somewhere different. Great tip on hitting the pool after the storm. :thumbsup2 Here's hoping we don't have to walk on too many crunched snails.
