Best strategy for rope dropping Test Track

Going to Epcot next month. We have FPs for FEA and Soarin’ for the 1.5 days we are going, but not for Test Track. We have a toddler who can’t ride, so we want to try and do Rider Switch at Rope Drop. We do have a PPO reservation at Garden Grill at 8am and plan to walk over from there leaving by 8:45a. So my questions are:
Will we be allowed to walk to TT if the main gates haven’t been opened yet?
Is it best to use Single Rider Line? (I assume yes)
Will we be able to get a Rider Switch Pass if the first person uses single rider line?
For the second person, should they use FP line with the Rider Switch Pass or the Single Rider Line?
Any other tips and tricks are welcomed. We’ve rope dropped Soarin’ before with PPO reservations no problem, but TT is a first.

1. Likely.
2. If you get there early, it won't matter.
3. From past reports, no Rider Swap passes are given for Single Rider Line.
(I don't see how Rider Swap would work with the Single Rider Line, anyway.)

The entire Test Track process can be quite lenghty, so I wouldn’t suggest using a rider swap immediately after the first adult goes through. Unless you plan to do something else with the child who can’t ride, it can be a long time to entertain the child hanging out near the gift shop and exit.

That’s why we plan to rope drop. Plus my son is happy just running around, so easy to entertain in the morning (harder in afternoon).
As for rider switch and single rider line, I saw that previous posters have stated that you can’t use both, but I found this on a Disney site.

Sorry, but the info on the Mom's Panel is not the best.

There's a real problem with that info.
Even if they would offer a Rider Switch Pass with SRL (which, again, I've
seen multiple reports to the contrary,)
if there are only two parents and one or more non-rider(s,)
what advantage would there be to use a Rider Switch Pass?

If the first parent uses SRL, alone...
then, when the second parent is ready to ride,
that parent can simply enter the SRL.
No Rider Switch needed.

I understand that if my hubby decides to use the single rider line, he doesn’t need the switch pass, but we want the option to come back later (like if my son takes a nap).

If you're going at rope drop - just go regular line. If you can try to get to gates 30 minutes or so prior. There'll be a bunch others doing the same but even if you're mid-pack, you're still looking at a relatively short wait. Remember the rider swap pass is good all day (and typically the rest of the month) so you can always come back later to use it when the child is taking a nap in the stroller or doing something else to entertain him.

Have you thought about doing Soarin' at RD since you'll be right there and could be one of the first ones on? And then FP for TT?

I would strongly recommend that you switch your FP and FP Test Track and RD Soarin.

First - Test Track goes down if it rains -FP is golden there because you can go when it’s open.

Second - you will be at GG for breakfast. Just walk downstairs and you will be ahead of the Soarin RD line. Get the rider swap, send DH on the ride. Occupy your son. When DH comes off, send DH and son on Living with the land while you go with rider swap.

Use your Test Track FP later!

I would not attempt to RD TT when you have a PPO ADR for GG.
Why not just RD Soarin' since you are right there?
And then switch your Soarin' FP+ to TT then there's no need for rider swap for TT.

We already have our FPs and there aren’t any for Test Track for the morning. The PPO just came through, so it wasn’t the original plan.

If I could I would. We got a FP for Soarin because we couldn’t get a PPO for Garden Grill, but that came through last week.

I'd keep checking. Like up to the night before, and even that morning.

It's fine if you just want to set up your plan and follow it, but that's a lot of walking at RD, and you won't have any advantage for getting to TT. In fact, you will be at a disadvantage coming from Soarin'. If you can RD Soarin' instead, I think your breakfast will be more relaxed too.

That's fine.
Come back LATER, and...
just get in the Single Rider Line.

Have you tried to get one Test Track Fastpass? Only the person riding needs a fastpass. The person staying with the child does not need a fastpass. If you could get one Test Track and one Soarin' fastpass you could get two rider swap passes, one for each ride with no wait. If you rope drop Soarin' you don't really need a fastpass for it. You could try to schedule two Test Track fastpasses at different times during the day. That way you could each ride Test Track two times and ride Soarin' once. Fastpasses for a single person are easier to to find.
