I've seen so many types of shoes mentioned for wearing at WDW. What have you found most comfortable during the summer at WDW? Thanks in advance.

For me (im a flip flop junkie..lol) Crocs Athens or Capri,my new favorite, is all i wear. I have not taken anything but those for my last 4 trips and have had no problems at all...They are light, cool and are great id you get wet.
My kids wear their crocs all the time too and are very comfy.

I can't wear tennis shoes down there. They are just too hot and uncomfortable. I love my Montrail Molokini flip flops or my Teva Mush flip flops. I just discovered the Montrail's for my trip this past May and fell in love with them. My Crocs also do OK down there, but I prefer my Molokinis or Tevas. If you've had time to break them in, the Havaiana flip flops are also very comfortable.

I wear my easy spirit sneakers. I have oddly shaped feet and they are the only shoe, sandal, or sneaker that fits good enough to walk that many miles.

Whatever you decide, be sure to walk a few miles in them before your trip to make sure they are comfy. Also, bring moleskin and use it at the first sign of any hotspots. I would strongly suggest bringing and old, well-worn, pair of sneakers just in case.

I used to swear by my Nikes...until I bought my first pair of crocs!! They have been terrific down there and at home!

Yep...I agree on the Athens or Capri. I have several pairs of both and they are sooooooo comfortable!!

I just bought a pair of cleos they are really comfortable. I plan to wear those and my beach crocs on our August trip.

I like my crocs but I also wore some Lands End sandals with a backstrap that were very comfortable this last trip. I think they are on sale right now too... yep on sale for $19.99

I can't do sneakers in WDW, it just gets too hot and I think too clunky. I prefer lightweigh shoes, even in the cooler weather I won't wear sneakers down there.

Caymen or Beach CROCS for our whole family-ages 2 to 50! We swear by our crocs-comfy, cool and ohhh, so good to feet that have spent endless hours in the parks! :thumbsup2 (wish there was a smilie with mickey wearing crocs!)

Nike Ceso flip flops are the shoe of choice for my crew. We have narrow feet so the Crocs don't work. The Nike's also offer a bit of arch support which is key for me.

Another Crocs fan here. One benefit I don't usually see mentioned about the Crocs though is how great they are for summer months when you are likely to have a short rain shower everyday. If they get wet, you can take them off and dry them with some paper towels or napkins and they will be completely dry. I love that feature about them since I hate walking around in wet shoes.

Last week, my entire family of 5 (dh, 15 yo ds, 7 yo ds, and 4 yo dd) wore Crocs. Dh and I learned early on that we needed to alternate our Crocs with our Teva sandals to avoid blisters on the bottoms of our feet. We were waaaay more comfortable than we had ever been wearing tennis shoes and Tevas during the hotter months.

My kids wore gym shoes. DH and I wore Merrill hiking shoes. They seem like they'd be hot, but they're not because they're ventilated. Sometimes in the evening, we wore flip flops (I have some Nike Celsos I love) and the kids wore Crocs, but for all day park touring, I think sandals of any sort often cause blisters.

I was wondering how Crocs work for people like me who have sweaty feet?!

I bought a pair of fake crocs at Target in the gardening section...

one day, i decided to walk around my neighborhood as exercise, and my crocs were on. I decided to wear them to exercise...and noticed that the bottom of my feet were very sore and red afterwards.

How do you prevent this? Especially at Disney?

Great post!!! I've been wondering about shoes too, please keep the suggestions coming.

Well I had the kind from TARGET and they are nowhere near as comfortable as the real ones. The real ones are softer and have better arch support, also the gardening kind I believe you have are even less comfortable than the one's from the shoe dept. @ Target. We get ours @ Journeys at the mall or Hallmark and also a large variety now at the kiosk in the mall.

Thanks for the rec's - I just ordered two pairs of the Teva Mush and Teva Mush Too (in black and brown). Can't wait to get them and start breaking them in for our Nov. trip. :rotfl:

Well I have real Crocs and I've gotten blisters in them if I walk a lot in them and I have seen other people post the same issue with them on the Disboards (usually regarding the Beach or Cayman types). Some people have awesome luck with them, but I put them to the test by walking a few miles on my treadmill (figured that would compare with the amount of walking I'd do in a day at Disney)...never again...it took over two weeks for my blisters to heal. I mostly wear my Capri Crocs as bedroom slippers and for around town, but I don't do extensive walking in them otherwise if I can help it.

For me, I'm very comfy in my sneakers, but that may be because they were custom made for me...so they are VERY supportive and comfy. Everyone's feet are different, so if you find what works for you, stick with it! ;)

I think it really depends on what you are used to. I wear flip~flops everywhere and all day at the park and I am fine with my flip~flops. For the kids, I always try to put them in comfy sandals or gym shoes with socks just to make sure they are comfortable all day!
