Best Shampoo Swimmers

When we built our home pool many years ago, my stylist gave me advice on how to reduce the damage to hair from the pool's chlorinated water. She told us to get our hair thoroughly wet (in a shower or with a garden hose) BEFORE we got into the pool. That way the hair absorbed the regular tap water before being exposed to the heavily chlorinated pool water.

This also helps to protect color-treated hair.

:thumbsup2

Good advice.

Our hairdresser told us the same thing. :thumbsup2

I have 2 swimmers. They wet down their hair, and then just put conditioner in it and leave. (Just a bit, it spreads well due to wet hair.)

pantene makes a great clarifying shampoo that is good for kids, and not too harsh on their hair. We use it in the summer.

I heard that's what you should do after a Keratin treatment too. :thumbsup2

My son uses the Neutragena daily due to oily, sports sweaty hair. It's scent free and really cleanses but does not damage. His hair is shoulder length, think and wavy.

DD is very blond, and spends a lot of time in swimming pools. The two things that work the best for her are: throughly wet the hair before you get in (as mentioned above) and wash occasionally in tomato paste. The tomato paste is not her favorite, but it makes a HUGE difference in her hair. Wet it, squish in the tomato paste, let it sit a while, rinse, then shampoo and condition as usual. Her hair went from shamrock green, dry and brittle, to shiny blond, soft and curly the first time we used the tomato paste. I've used ketchup in a pinch--or when on vacation.
