I am staying in august at the polynesian with my wife and 2 kids, one 3 and one 5 (this will be the 5th trip to WDW for the 5 year old). It will be the first time at this resort, which I heard was lovely. But, I need help in choosing a room.

Can anyone tell me there favorite room and/or building, and why they liked it. Dont leave any info out, I want to know everything so that I can make a true informed decision.

Thanks so much

Nathan

We had a first floor room in the Rarotonga bldg. last Sept. I will tell you what I did and didn't like about this particular bldg since you're definite on the resort.
What we did like:
First it was in a great location, near parking and the monorail. One day when it rained we were able to get right to the monorail station via the GCH without getting wet! It is that close.
Also, we had an end unit closest to the Neverland Club (which we used, or rather the kids did) and the arcade.
Although facing the quiet pool, the patio was secluded by very leafy plants so it was very private and accessible.
What we didn't like:
The bldg seemed run down. Perhaps it was due for a renovation? The room smelled musty (I had them come spray air freshener - it helped) and it was humid. I'm not sure the a/c was working right. A funny noise came from the vent although it would get cold after awhile. It kinda sounded like it was dying or something. The carpet was a bit dirty as well.
The bldgs along the beach seemed like the best bet but one is concierge only, I think, and I'm no sure how much more you pay for that.
So that should get you started.

Most of the buildings are rehabed every few years - fresh paint, sprucing up, etc. - and you need to realize that some people will love the Polynesian no matter what and some will not. Your own experience may be vastly different from anyone else's. You should decide what conveniences are most important to you.

Is being closed to the GCH important? Then maybe Raratonga or Aoertoroa may be good for you.

Is being close to the beach important? Tuvalu is close to the marina and Tahiti is right on the beach. Hawaii is also but that building is all concierge.

Is being close to the TTC important? Tahiti and Rapa Nui are closest.

And really, the buildings arenot very spread out. You can walk from Tahiti - the building on one end of the resort - to the GCH in 5 minutes.

Check out Tikiman's site for the building locations or if you have a Passporter, the building locations are inthere too.
