Best ride to do at night

at WDW we hit almost all the rides early in the day and didn't really do any at night, until MNSSHP and we did Big thunder at night, and that was awesome!:thumbsup2

So, what rides would you suggest are best at night... have a different feel to them? If you could only do one at night which would you do?

In Disneyland, the Matterhorn (the Tomorrowland side). No question about it. It's so much better at night. Not only do you get a great view, it seems much faster, too.

In DCA, I'd pick Screamin' for the same reasons.

I know a lot of folks love the Matterhorn at night, as well as Big Thunder. If you ride the Teacups (and remember, they are pretty speedy even when you don't touch the wheel so beware of sensitive tummies), those are cool to do at night. The Storybook Land Canal Boats are great at night. The People Mover used to be great at night, but of course, that is long gone!:sad1: Jungle Cruise is kind of cool at night. Alice, for the little outside part at the end. Dumbo, I imagine, would be cool at night.

Dumbo is such a joy at night! Totally makes you feel like a little kid. And add me in as another vote for Screamin'.

Oh yes, big thunder is awesome at night. If you time it just right and go during the fireworks show it is even more awesome!

I really love Spalsh Mountain at night. When you stop at the top just before that drop, the view is so beautiful :thumbsup2 and I just love that moment before you go hurling down! :scared1:

2 of my favorites-to-ride-at-night are predictable: Jungle Cruise and Big Thunder Mountain. My other favorite night-ride is the Casey Jr. Train...it's a totally different experience than during the day!

I, too, miss being able to ride the Peoplemover at night. Also, the Rocket Jets at night, back when they were high up on the PM platform & you could see everything all lit up...

We always do BTMRR at night during the fireworks, it really is an experience.

Thanks guys! How do you manage to time it just right to do the rides during fireworks? What time do you get in line?

We use our FP's just as the fireworks start. Many people make their way to see the fireworks. Never failed.

I agree that BTMRR is the best at night! It's a gorgeous ride. However, it's even better during the holiday season when the lights from Reindeer Roundup can be seen from the cars. Really and on that note, Disney does such a fabulous job with Christmas decorations that it's worth visiting the park in December just for the lights!

Also:
The Teacups are so pretty with the 'paper' lanterns lit up. And the Storybook Land Canal Boats are extra fun with Ariel's underwater kingdom lit up (easier to see at night), all the twinkly lights in the cottages and castles and of course, the monster ducks napping in Pan's London Park. :lmao:

The Matterhorn Bobsleds is also beautiful at night, and also the queuing area outside of IASW.

I **love** DL at night. LOVE.:love:

I don't think anyone mentioned this yet - or if so, I missed it - but how about the Mark Twain? That still runs at night, right? I remember riding it on it at night years ago and I liked it better than in the daytime!

Oh, and often times, the POTC line is almost non-existent during fireworks and Fantasmic. We went on POTC 3 times in a row once while the fireworks were happening because there was nobody in line, so keep that in mind!

In WDW I rode Big Thunder Mountain during the fireworks and it was other worldly. I can only imagine that it would be the same for DL since MK and DL are so similar.

We love riding Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain while the fireworks are going off too. We also enjoy California Screamin and Tower of Terror at night as well. Grizzly River Run is kinda cool too at night.

I completely agree! One year, my family was on BTMRR and got right to the first big hike up and made it to the finale of the fireworks just before we went down. Best experience of fireworks at DLR hands down!

I also agree about the Matterhorn on the Tomorrrowland side at night, Screamin, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE ToT at night :)

Last time I was there, I happened to ride Matterhorn at night. I came outside of one of the caves on the backside of the mountain and was staring right at a beautiful full moon on a balmy summer evening. It was almost a religious experience. :worship:
