Best restaurants for kids

I liked taking my little ones to the Buffets. It's easy to get them their own plate of food. It's fun taking pictures of them with the characters and seeing their reactions to them. My youngest really liked the Crystal Palace.

We also like to do the character meals, but I will warn you that while my son did fine with the characters when he was 18 months old, my daughter was an entirely different story! She was deathly terrified of all of the "non-human" characters - Mickey, Pooh, etc. She did okay with Cinderella and the Princesses - thought that they were fun, but she had a meltdown at the Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's. We learned that if we kept her inside the table, away from the character, she was okay, but it wasn't worth putting her through that. If I were to have another child, I might only make one ADR with characters to test the waters.

Our favorites are Chef Mickey (my son loved to watch the Monorail and then ride it afterwards over to Magic Kingdom) and Tusker House -- we would get there when the park opened to see the opening parade and then right over to the restaurant. I have never taken my son when he was 18 months but he has always been so well behaved in restaurants and as long as your child is already used to going out to eat often, he/she should be fine! Have fun! I also hear that the younger kids like the Little Einstein character breakfast in MGM. :cheer2:

Ours is Crystal Palace. We go there every trip ever since DS was 9 months old. We'll be going back again next month when he'll be 19 months old. His favorite character is Pooh though so we go for him and just so happens the food is GREAT too.

I agree with the character buffets comment. Pooh at Crystal Palace, Mickey & Co at Chef Mickeys, and JoJo and Little Einstein characters at the Hollywood & Vine

Also, the Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex Cafe may be visually stimulating for your 18 year. Perhaps, too stimulating it depends on your child

I also recommend the Starlight Cafe at MK where your child will enjoy Sonny Eclipse

I agree with the previous comments about the character dining. When we took my son at that age he loved the McDonalds at AK. Silly but true, the food was familiar to him and he loved the theme.
