Best rate for Poly?

I recently booked the Poly through AAA for 4 nights in early December (Tues - Fri) and if I did my math correctly I think the room portion equals approximately $288/night including taxes.

Is this a reasonably good rate for the Poly or AP rates typically much better?

TIA! :flower:

Early December is value season at the Deluxes. I think a code or Annual Passholder rate for this time would be in the $229 range (that's about a 30% discount).. AAA rates are about 15% off tops, I think. Disney's offers are usually better but don't come out 'til much closer to travel time.

For my two cents, Poly is WORTH it. We stayed in June and I half expected it to be a letdown after all my plotting to get there... It was NOT disappointing... We loved it.

I was trying to stay there also. AP rate was $387.00 for water view.

AAA rate will beat rack rate by 10-15%. A room code will be even better (20-25%) and AP rate will be a little better than room code.

Not sure about Dec. '05, but for Jan '05 the AP rate for a non-concierge GV room was $214/night ($233/night incl. tax).

Keep the AAA rate and modify reservation if/when room or AP code comes out. That's what we did. Good luck.:flower:

PEAK season is a lot more $$$ than VALUE season. I know, we're going during peak season.

Thanks!

This is actually a package deal so I would have to give up my passes and therfore my dining option in order to switch to APs. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't paying $100+ over what an AP rate would be (I'm not happy but I can deal with a $50 difference :) ) For our needs, I think that the 10 day MYW passes (no exp) will work better than the APs :earsgirl:

I booked a reservation this morning with an AP at WL.

I really wanted the Poly- but they told me $387.00 for lagoon view and $286.00 for the garden view- so I passed.

Still unsure- but really would like to be able to see the water!!

We booked a GV Poly room for 6 nights, with 7 day park hoppers and 6 day dining plan for 2 adults and one child in September for just under $2885. By my calculation, the room portion comes to $278/night, which I guess is about $45/night more than the AP rate (when you include taxes). Once you factor in (1) the extra $150 for one AP, which for us would only get used the one trip as we only go once per year given the distance, (2) getting the ability to purchase the dining option which is a great deal as we love to do character dining, and (3) the peace of mind of having our vacation booked now and not stressing about getting the AP code, I think the AAA option is fantastic.

Obviously this fits our tastes and circumstances very nicely and may not be as advantageous to others. The dining really makes it work for us b/c we love the character dining experiences and like to have at least one meal per day that is nutritionally balanced.

We also got the $25 Disney Dollars with the package, which we love to let DD5 "earn" before the trip so she can buy what I call the instant gratification souveniers.

I don't have a December rate to compare, but the AAA rate on a concierge, garden view in mid October is $318.00.

Just booked Poly. 10/13-10/17, 2ppl. park hopper tix. GV through AAA, $1893. I'm sure a code would be cheaper, but I don't like waiting until a month or so before my trip to make my plans. I was told you couldn't couple a code with a AAA discount. Anyway, I just like having my plans set, even if it costs a few more bucks, and AAA saved me $158 compared to Disney direct, that'll cover a towne car service, Mickey's Halloween Party, and some food.

bengalbelle - do you have that rate booked for 2005? If so, you somehow got a deal and I'd hang on to it. I keep getting quoted $456 (including tax) for a garden concierge room with a AAA rate for the end of this October, which is a little more than I want to spend so now I'm looking at WL. That's 10% off rack. Mid and late October would still be regular season. I'm hoping some better rates come out!

Rack = $455 - 10% AAA discount =$410.4 + tax =approx $456/night for garden view concierge.

Oh, I just looked at rack for garden view, non concierge and it's $354. With 10% off and NOT including tax the room rate would be $318.60. If you really wanted concierge you might want to double check that.

pretty good. We went last July with an AP rate and it was $233 a night including tax. Also went last Feb with an AP rate and it was $209 a night including tax.

I didn't book it because I don't want concierge. I just had him check rates at WL, Poly, POR and POFQ. That's what popped up and what he (Neimiah sp?) told me. October will be a budget trip for us as we're planning a land and sea cruise in Feb. 2006 and we would be staying at the Poly then. We're just trying to get there in Oct. for MNSSHP and for DH to do the Richard Petty Driving Experience. If the MNSSHP dates are correct on wdwinfo then we can actually go during value season and still make the first or second party.

I thought the rate sounded low too, but he confirmed it and gave me the description of what we could expect staying concierge. :confused3

Wow, I wish he'd answer the phone when I call :) I think he made a mistake though. That would've been a really good deal.

We're going to a MNSSHP too for the first time this year! We'll miss you though - ours will probably be on 10/31.

Have a great time.

This will be our first time at MNSSHP too. We went to MVMCP for the first time in December and enjoyed it. We've heard MNSSHP is more fun! I would love to go on Halloween night, but when I found out we might could make it and still go in the Value Season, I've gotta try that. Leaves more money for our next vacation.

Too bad I didn't book it, but I'm not looking for concierge and we weren't firm on our dates. I was initially working around 1 day DS would have off from school, but he'll be in preschool so it won't be such a big deal to take him out for a few days if we want to change dates.
Hope you have fun too! I'm already looking forward to it!!

Same here, we've done MVMCP and I'm really excited about a MNSSHP!

Take care :)

THrough a postcard rate I got 239/night (266 with tax) for a garden view in May.
Hi, are the ap rates usually lower than a postcard or are the postcards as good as it gets? :)
