Best Rate changes, what can I do?

I knew I shouldn't have booked the Best Rate because we are always unsure about what resort to stay at, etc but I did anyways because I thought it seemed like a good idea and a good rate. I booked AKL at $177 nt for 5 nights in November. The thing is that we are still going for 5 nights before that and I haven't made that ressie yet. I was just going to see if any regular AP rates came out and just work from there on which resort to stay at for those 5 nights. Now , my husband is looking at the finances and all of the overtime that he will have to work for this trip and he was hoping to go cheaper this year. I don't want to lose out any money on my AKL ressie. Is there any changes that I can make to it without losing my deposit. Can I call them and ask for a 10 night stay at a value/moderate resort and if it is more money, that would be ok. Any ideas or opinions would be great!!!!

I believe they have waived the $50 change fee. You can call and do a change, but remember that AP rates are based on availability and there may not be any availablity for your dates. Good luck!!

So, do you think that no matter what I change my ressie to as long as I don't cancel it, then I don't lose my deposit and I don't have to pay $50. I could change it to May or next October if I wanted just to not lose my deposit? I don't like calling CRO, I am always afraid to ask questions!!!!!
I like knowing the answers before I call. Thanks for any help that you can give to me.

According to recent reports, yes. You should be able to change your ressie without paying the $50 and without loosing your deposit. Now, the question is, can you change it to May or do you have to change it to a time within the current Best Rate availability? They might only let you change it through February since the BRProgram is currently only available through Feb.15th. That is what I don't know.

I posted a couple of days ago that this is my plan if lower AP code rates come out. Since I can't cancel without loosing my deposit, I figured I'd just change it and keep changing it if need be. We'll use it eventually!
