My Daddy brought home a pair of beautiful sterling silver and turquoice etched dangle earrings from a reservation out west back in 1975. They were gorgeous and my sister eventually gave them to me. Sorta hippy and indian styled.
I lost one of the earrings but held on to the single earring in a jewelry box. About once or twice a year, I'd pull out that silver turquoise earring and hold it in my hand, remarking how beautiful it was and how sad I was to have lost it so long ago.
I did this for easily 20 years..or 25. A long time.
One day, I had gone through my jewelry box to clear things out, paused to admire the lone earring, then put it back and shut the case. Later that day, I went looking for something in a DIFFERENT jewelry box and as I started to lift out the lone earring to admire it, as I always did...it hit me.
For almost 25 years, I had been admiring the single earring from two different jewelry boxes! Two earrings, two boxes. So happy to get them back!
