Best Pool

Just looking for people opinions here but what property has the best pool for families with small children and what has the best adult style pool?

* Best pools for really small children - SSR and AKV (zero entry)
* Best pools for older kids - BCV (sand bottom, lazy-river like with a great slide) and BWV (great clown-faced slide - my kids LOVED this pool!)
* Best pool for adults - WL/VWL pools or the SSR quiet pool across from DTD (can't beat the amazing views)

Best pool on property is SAB at BCV. That said, all of the resorts have very good to great pools.

We have enjoyed the following DVC pools:

1. Animal Kingdom Lodge: we have found this pool to be very relaxing and fun. Our 7 year old loved the water slide and mommy and daddy enjoyed the peaceful setting with easy access to restroom facilities and the bar.

2. Saratoga Springs: the pool is great and again very realaxing. For small children is has a small water slide that was great when our son was a toddler. The Donald Duck water area is also great for kids. We enjoy the slide, but access requires that your kids have to be out of sight and that bothers me. The hot tubs are excellent.

3. Wilderness Lodge: a great pool that is just like being at Yellowstone Park! Great setting, but often crowded.

4. Boardwalk Villas: the clown pool was a lot of fun. The pool doesn't have zero access so it's not quite as accessible to small children. The setting is fun and the excitement of the boardwalk is nearby.

5. Old Key West: when we stayed at OKW, the new water slide had not yet been installed. The pool was a lot of fun and the setting is very peaceful.

We have not used the other pools.

I would summarize by saying that all of the pools are excellent and worthy of the Disney name!

I believe that Stormalong Bay also has a zero entry area, at the end farthest from the slide.

Other than Stormalong Bay, which is like a mini water park, I'd say that all of the other pools are equal. They all have slides and are quite large. SSR and AKV do have the zero entry areas, but other than that I'd say they are pretty comparable.

Yes, SAB does have zero entry. GF and Poly pools also have it.

I was just at SAB for the first time this past week. Tell you what I enjoy Luna Park at the BWV much more. Just the size of SAB alone kept me busy keeping an eye on the kids. We had one at one end with the zero entry sand bottom and the other two wanting to go down the slide and swim around. SAB is beautiful but for young families it can be tiresome.

Haven't really tried any of the other DVC resort pools yet......

Best pool all-a-round for uniqueness is SAB at YC/BC imho.

And I agree, for very young, the zero-depth entry pools are best (SSR, AKL)

My kids are teens....they love water slides. And they like 'em fast. They tried BWV, SAB, OKW, POR & VB.....hands down, they felt OKW was the fastest. They actually felt the volcano slide at the Poly took a close second.

I can't picture it... Are you talking about the sand beach entry?

Yes, that's it. That whole largish area is no more than about 18 inches deep, too. That's the area where they have "beach parties" and tons of games for little kids.

If you go to SAB at the BCV be prepared to be extra vigilant about watching your kids. I can't tell you how often I heard panicked parents screaming for their children.

It's a great spot to sit in the water/sand with little ones and its a huge area. Cant wait for the grandkids. Zero entry leading into 2,3 or 4 foot deep area's are not something to take your eyes off either.

And some areas are 8 feet deep with a strong current.

SAB is a very cool pool - but it is a scary pool to watch kids in - particularly at a certain age and skill level. The eight foot deep with current part - that part is really scary - because you can step off into water above a grownups head.

AKL and WL have smaller slides - teenagers get bored quickly, but they are great slides for the elementary age set. The VWL community pool has "hidden springs" that are great fun - very different (SAB has a similar area in the pool).

BW has a great slide. The pool, however, is deep enough that preschool children need to stick to the steps - and can be found bobbing in the middle of the pool in lifejackets.

SSR is a great pool for little kids - it has a toddler slide in addition to its larger slide - and zero entry. (SAB has a little kid slide in the ship as well - SAB has everything -which is one of the reasons its a hard pool to watch kids in - its large).

OKW has a nice pool slide and a pool that is unremarkable, and yet really enjoyable to lay around. Its a little quieter than the other pools, and its large.

Agreed, but there are 3 lifeguards (one walks it nonstop) posted at that spot all day. I would keep an eye on that as well, but even the zero entries like at POLY are not necessarily that great for tots IMO. Kiddie pools (18 inch deep) are suited better for little ones IMO-they are not in a pool that water depth goes over their head. SAB just took a big step further with the huge 18 inch deep area, sand bottom and sandbar so you have a more relaxing area for adults as well as a large enough area to react to your child "heading the wrong way".

We all can choose, but if I plan to spend a few hours in a pool with "really small children" and can choose, it would be this area of SAB.

Pretty sure the new AKV kids pool will be king for kids soon from what I saw.
