Best ponchos for staying dry?

In all the years we have been, last year was the first that we needed the rain ponchos. There were 31/2 days of rain rain rain. So after using my Walmart ponchos I decided to invest this year in something a little more sturdy for myself and my 10 year old. Any suggestions?

The Walmart brand was good for quick sprinkles or Kalie River Rapids, but I have learned that I prefer something more in anticipation of heavy rains.

Those are the only ones we use...they did just fine in the heavier rains. Anything more substantial will have to be carried around until needed. The disposable ones are so easy you can stick them in your pocket. Then, after I use it, I put the wet poncho into a small bag from one of the shops....then I put my belt through it and it's out of the way.

We bought econo-ponchos from Target last year. In a sprinkle, they would have been fine. However, it POURED. We purchased Disney ponchos in the park. OMG - they're SO much better. We gave the lesser ponchos to someone else.

They are nice enough (and expensive enough) that you don't want to just ditch them. They definitely take up more room than the econo versions. However, if you get hit with what we got hit with, these are far better.

I hung them up to dry after that day and brought them home; they're hanging in the back of my closet. I almost look forward to using them again!

We used the dollar store ponchos, only good for one use, they rip so easily! So we got the WDW ones, they are sturdier & last. We've used ours for approx 8 trips now. 4 of them take up about the same room as a small, thin sweatshirt. I prefer the WDW ones.

agree completely - we tried the cheap Wal-Mart ones and they tore. Got the Disney ponchos many trips ago and they just keep going! Also I've read (and I asked 2 CMs) if they tear you can get a new one for free (just give them the torn one). We have not had to try that out as ours haven't torn. Worth their weight in gold IMO (although I wouldn't pay that much for them!)

My Disney poncho ripped. I will be heading to WDW in September. Anyone have problems recently getting a free replacement?

They're really good at replacing them, unless it is so old it says " Opening Day Animal Kingdom 1998 " it shouldn't be a problem

I bought an umbrella when visiting the World 3 years ago, one day after I bought it, it had broken. I went to our resort gift shop and asked if they could replace it. The cashier wanted a receipt which I hadn't saved. I accepted the loss. We headed to the parks with the broke. Umbrella (we were walking through gift shop to head to bus stop, so the broken umbrella came with us so I could double check that I did not have receipt). Thought I would try another store to see if there was anything they could do about it and viola! New umbrella!

My Disney poncho - which I bought back in 2008 - caught on one of the uprights as I took my scooter into the Chinese pavilion back in February and tore right down the side. After the scooter died (different story), a security lady gave both me and DD new ponchos and gave me a Disney Parks umbrella as well. DD only had one of the cheap Walgreens ponchos, too.

What I need for the parks is a poncho with sleeves, as the sleeves of my fleece underneath got soaked. Wet fleece takes forever to dry ...

We purchased Coleman poncho's from wal-mart which were about $4 each. Much nicer than the cheap clear $1 ponchos you see. They come in about 4 different colors so at least you don't look like every one else in the park. :)

How much the Disney Ponchos go for? I bought the cheapie ones last trip and I hated feeling so sweaty when wearing it. Thinking of just getting the Disney ones this time.

I've only ever used the walmart and target ones. They've worked fine for me.

It's not worth it for the trade off of having to carry around an actual jacket. I go bagless half the time and I'd rather have a disposable tucked in my pocket that I could toss when I was done.

My mom is not fond of them but like me she doesn't want to carry a jacket so she makes it work.

She wears them at any sign of sprinkles. It's all about the poofy hair.

I want to say the parks ponchos are $8 for kids, $10 for an adult. They are so much better than the cheapo dollar store ponchos, and you can fold them up to a really, really small size.
