I am looking for a point and shoot camera for night photos, and suggestions.

No point and shoot is going to give you really good night pictures.
A Cannon Rebel will do a great job, but it's significantly more expensive.

Exactly what type of pictures are you trying to take? I might be able to give you some hints.

Correction, no camera is going to give you really good night pictures. Photography is all about you controlling the camera rather than what the camera is. My cheap $200 7 year old camera takes better pictures day or night than my coworker's $1500 Canon Rebel dSLR because I am taking the pictures with the cheapie and he is taking pictures with the Canon.

Even the cheap p&s cameras have night portrait, night scenery and fireworks scene modes. What you need is a way to keep the camera steady, since those kinds of shots use slow shutter speeds. A regular tripod works. You can buy a small tripod or something called gorillapod which works. You can fit the gorillapod in your pocket. In a pinch you can even rest your camera on a trash can. Using the self timer and you won't be touching the camera when the picture is being taken.

Technology is getting better. I had a DSLR that needed a lot of manual adjustments to take good nighttime shots. Now P&S can take pretty decent nighttime shots.

I used a Sony CyberShot HX7V (older model)
I'm currently looking at the Lumix ZS40

These are from the CyberShot

Sorry, inserting images didn't work, probably too big.
