Best Places to Eat at Hollywood Studios?

We've been happy with our meals at 50s Prime Time, Hollywood Brown Derby, and Mama Melrose.

If you want unique Disney experience I'd recommend 50s P/T which has decent food and the best atmosphere of the bunch.

I have been to the 50's PT several times and always enjoyed it. The food is decent but the atmosphere is a lot of fun. Mama Melrose's was great when we went there - we went later in the day and it was pretty quiet. I have also eaten at the Sci Fi - we stuck to the appetizers and they were great.

My family's votes:
1. LOVE Sci-Fi (great burgers, chili & shakes) & tremendously fun. :cool1:

2. 50's Prime Time - Great choice for home cookin'.:thumbsup2

3. Hollywood Brown Derby - We really enjoyed the food on our last trip. :) Not the greatest choice for kids - because of atmosphere - high end.

4. Didn't have a good experience at Mama Melrose. Food was just *o.k.*and servic was on the slow side. Plus, the poor waitress dumped food all over my DH. :sad2:

5. Counter Svc...Hmmm, not the greatest here. :confused3 If you must, the burgers aren't bad at the Backlot Express, and here's the good part - You might catch a Jedi Training show while you eat. That's enjoyable.

Good luck! :goodvibes

H&V was decent. ABC Commissary is where you are forced to eat as penance for your sins.

Seriously. Just walk into the ABC and you can feel a gray cloud settle on your soul.

DH and I had our first ever ressie for dinner at Sci-Fi back in May. We enjoyed it so much we called back and re-booked it for lunch again later that week. The service was pretty good but the atmosphere is the coolest. Sitting in the cars, watching the movie clips, stars..it was really cool. The food was good, service was okay, and price (we weren't on DDP) wasn't too bad.

I like the Brown Derby. Sci-Fi and Mama Melrose's are ok. There is no good CS places at DHS

50's PT is also where the waitresses get on to you about bad table manners I guess.

So, far the Sci Fi and the 50's PT really sound both like a good time. Mixed reviews on Sci FI food though and it seems like everyone likes 50's PT food.
How to choose????

We will be there soon. :cool1:

Oh, do we need to make reservations for either of them now or when we get to the park or no reservations needed?

If you are past your 90 day mark, I would either call or go online right away and book your ADRs for them. From what I have been reading on other posts, 50's PT is a pretty hard one to get so if you decide to do that one, I would do it now. Sci Fi, I am not sure if it is as popular (never been) but I would also get an ADR now if you are past your 90 day mark. Waiting until you get to the park may be too late. Also, I too recommend 50's PT....the pot roast is awesome, but beware that you may not finish it all....however, the fried chicken looks wonderful and the S'more dessert....OMG!!!!!

Just curious .......Can you take left overs with you back to the resort, doggie bag? I don't know if a microwave is available or not at CBR, but I know we have a fridge in all the rooms.

I have taken leftovers from differnt rest in Disney and had my midnight snack. I sould think you can still do it, you paid for the food :santa:

Thanks for the heads up on reservations and I guess we got lucky, because we just booked for this Friday.

We are going to Prime Time 50's!
