We're staying for 9 nights and for the first 4 we were going to stay at either Y&B villas (studio) or WL villas (studio) and then we were planning on staying somewhere cheaper for the remainder of the stay-like a value resort or moderate or possibly the swan or dolphin. But I've been concerned about our 3 and 1/2 year old who gets very homesick after he's away for a couple of nights. I was wondering if it might be worth it to stay in a fort wilderness cabin because it might feel a little more homey. (we can get it for the $169 a night rate). Any thoughts, ideas etc would be appreciated! the last thing we want is to be at Disney World (which he is so excited to go to) and have him crying at night because he wants to go home!

When I first read your question, I thought of the same solution. Wilderness Cabins are very homey and cozy. They are also easy to get in and out of--i.e., no long walks through the lobby and hotel hallways. They have bunkbeds--may or may not be a good thing for your child. All in all, more of a home-like experience.

The cabins are really fun and quite large. Plus, you have the added bonus of having your own kitchen inside as well. One thing that I disliked was the transportation inside Fort Wilderness itself. I would not stay there unless I had a car. Otherwise, you have to take a bus to get to the transportation hub to take another bus (or boat). We took this once (to MK on an eride night) and it honestly took us over an hour to get back. There is also the Murphy bed that folds into the wall that your son may find really cool if you don't want him sleeping on the bunk beds. The bedroom has its own door that allows for some nice privacy between that and the rest of the cabin. I also found it to be very quiet and relaxing there

My first thought was a FW cabin also before I even finished reading your post. I would say go with the cabin. They really do feel like home!!! :D
